I was literally about to say "See this is what I wish they'd done with Psychic in 40k instead of just gutting it". I'm so glad t hey *didn't* do that to AoS 4 though, this is... honestly super cool.
What I’m gathering from chanting is that you don’t pick the prayer you want until after the chanting Roll and you can see which prayers you can get off
If you have to choose between Manifestations or Spell Lore, I don't expect to see Endless Spells in the game very often I hope there is a way to take extra lores
So much interesting design space in the Prayer system. Slaughterpriests gaining Ritual Points for killing models in melee? Army wide Rituals where multiple Priests can contribute to the same Prayer? Setting up funky 'sigils' by getting priests to stand in certain positions (like a 12 inch triangle?) to summon a creature in the middle?
I recently purchased some Kharadron Overlords, and decided to wait till 4.0 to start playing, these videos are very informative and helpful. 4.0 Looks good
So, the Ritual Points... @12:57 you say a two "cast" priest would have two pools, I don't think that makes sense, it works if each prayer attempt allows a single roll to add points to a single pool then prayers are "cast" from that pool... two d6 are rolled, a 5 and a 6 show giving 11 points, two prayers are "cast" for 4 points each leaving 3 points in the pool for next turn. Having two pools seems needlesly complicated but we are talking GW here.
I like the changes. assuming, the spells wont be too much different from the current ones, having access to situational spells of a lore, without "wasting" a spell slot, sounds fun.
Fun thing to note: Magical Intervention, the new command ability that lets you cast on your opponent's turn, cannot be unbound unless your opponent sacrifices one point from his power level supply to unbind instead of casting, making the command even better than we might have thought. (At least if the rules actually work the way they're described.)
So can"t be 100% sure, but pretty sure you get to pick a spell lore and still get to get endless spells since while you only get to pick 1 spell lore, endless spells aren't in a spell lore, there in a manifistation lore. And then they can group invocations under the same title and doesn't matter whether it's a endless spell or invocation, a priest or wizard can get rid of it and that annoyance goes bye-bye.
Rob.. mate, you’re a legend. I literally didn’t read the article. I waited till you gave your take. Whoever said “Robsplaining” needs a pat on the back. Totally where I am with AOS4. Super hyped, lots of great choices so far. Keep up the great work Rob!!
What I don't like with prayers is, now you roll the 3 or 4, or you don't shebang and you're off. But next turn your probability hasn't reduced or increased, and by this I feel the balance of prayers is easier to maintain. Now it's almost guaranteed when going into round two, opponent's will have a good number of ritual points and they'll auto pray out prayers unless they roll 1's a lot. And that doesn't exactly feel right to me. Well unless the ritual points are actually spent. In which case it's fine.
Ive been on the fence still on how i feel about 4e but... actually making magic this much more important, is really good and makes sense for the setting.
I would say you probably don't have two pools for chanting. I would imagine he just chants up points each round and you spend the points in when you want on whichever prayer
I do wonder if they are going to spell lores with all wizards having access to all if there will be generic rulebook spells, it would allow them to enhance theme and would fit with only stormcast being able to buff saves. mentioned.
I'm hoping we see manifestation lores for those that don't currently have their own. I think it would be really cool to see some magic ethereal fish or lobster make an appearance in the Idoneth
I dont think you have to chant the same prayer over and over seeing as the goal is simplification youll probably be able to just pray and accumulate points
Not having to mandate single rat to cast more-more warp power sounds awesome!! Hopefully they keep 5hp casters roughly the same with the ability to cast death frenzy as well as more-more on a flexibility or even a contingency basis if you have multiple casters.
@@originalblob you roll a d6 if you don't use prayers to gain prayers points with that specific priest. You can accumulate prayer points along the turns. You roll a D3 if you spend prayer points to activate the effect. Here the confusion being a D3 the 2+ is a 3+ on a D6, so the failing 1 is the results 1-2 on the D6. Failing (the 1 on D3) you suffer mortal wounds and lose some prayer points accumulated
The more I rewatch your videos I am starting to change to a positive opinion on 4.0. Having things like anti-infantry on units feels very flavourful. Do you think a lot of similar role based rules are coming or will they be a bit conservative you think and only have really elite stuff get them? I would love anti-large on halberd or spear type units as like a charge defense against impact hits or something.
I'm a bit confused by the slaughterpriest warscroll ability blood sacrifice. Roll a d3 and on a 2+. So they mean a 2+ result of a d3 which would be a 3+ result of a d6? Just seems like a very weird way. Could just say roll a d6, on a 3+ do d3 mortal wounds and gain a bloodtithe. Probably needs less text as well.
The way you wrote it will imply rolling a d6 and then a d3 to determine the number of mw, this way you only roll a d6 (to represent a d3) and then if you get 1 or 2 you do nothing, if you get 3-4 you deal 2 mw and if you rol 5-6 you deal 3mw.
This is exciting to me, the keywords r ironjawz which leads me to believe ironjawz and kruleboyz r going to be split up. As a kruleboy that is huge news
@@jtowensbyiii6018 orruk warclans wasnt a subfaction. it was the army that all orcs were forced into in 3rd. IJ and Bonesplitters were their own armies before that and it seems GW is going back to splitting the greenskins into their own armies again.
Good to know GW likes Unga-Bunga melee armies like Khorne over armies that actually take a brain in every game. As a LRL player, it's fun that a like sub 150 point priest can just... prevent my Teclis from playing the game? Fun times, guess Teclis castle is just want it is and we pray they don't have some stupid teleportation nonsense.
Pretty sure Teclis is fine He is pretty hard to unbind as it is Also, we haven't seen how his scroll is changed As a god of magic, I am certain unbinding in AoS 4 will be just as difficult as it is now
notice how the spell says "reduce the power level of the wizard by 1". I'm fairly certain that Teclis, the god of magic, has a power level a *bit* higher than one. He'll be fine, it just means he won't be doing quite as many things on his turn.
@@cmleibenguth because it’s way too powerful for those who have good casters, especially now with blizzard. And many armies have no protection from it. So it’s a mechanic that often just happens and you have nothing or very little to interact with.
40k players seething coping shitting and farting in jealousy after what they did to psychic in 10th

Honestly I liked the change to psychic stuff. Made it quicker. And the game take along enough as it is.
Necron supremacy, we don’t do magic we do SCIENCE!
A priest heavy army could make for a very big swing every other turn.
well im playing tzeentch so thats amazing

I usually only half understand the actual gameplay and meta ramifications til the Robsplaining happens. Ty for your service dude O7
Robsplaining... I like that, I think it should be a regular thing "and on this weeks episode of Robsplaining"
If you have to choose between Manifestations or Spell Lore, I don't expect to see Endless Spells in the game very often

It sure seems like that. But don´t forget that you will also lose one unbind.
Great for when you have more total wizard power though.
Excited to see the full rules list! Can't wait to see what my Kruleboyz Shawman is gonna get!

The unbind says it works only on your hero phase, so no more dispelling your own endless on opponents turn.

100% that guy
Spell caster are going to get buff in Aos 4...if wasn't for skaven that can shoot them out of the table turn 1
As an ogor player - what’s a two cast wizard?!?!
The prayer part has been written badly by GW, i had to reread it multiple times
