Hey Bill good to see you again, man I’m so sorry to hear Black Lapel didn’t work out for you. I have a blue DB Suit from them and it fits perfectly and looks great too. From one big guy to another May I make a suggestion? When wearing a double breasted suit I find it’s always best to go Classic, Wide lapels and a classic full cut. For your DB suit I would recommend getting your trousers pleated and having them cut to where you wear them above your stomach with suspenders. I have my DB Trousers cut about 6 inches above my regular pants size. I also have the chest cut more generously as well. Just a few tips I thought I’d share.

I almost bought from them - I was in NYC to visit ProperCloth for a suit fitting and hoped to see them, but there was a mixup and they did not have an appointment. That is not a good fit on you. Proper Cloth is my shirt maker, but their suits did not fit me after three times (low arm holes). Great customer service however from PC. Good to see you posting.

It’s interesting how you CZcams will make you subscribe to people that you’ve ever seen or heard of but then you end up liking him

I think the problem with these MTM companies is the reality in which their advertising is highly flawed. They're not lying, but usually tend to be highly misleading about their products, which creates a false interpretation of the reality in which a customer gets a suit according to his measurments.
In reality...One gets a suit with a silloutte that's already made based on a certain body type, and all they can do is to make slight alterations within a pre--existing strucure, which basically implies that in order for a suit to fit you, One needs to have bodily proportions that are analogous with the intended "mole" of the house, and profile of a man that can sport these garments well is usually describing a reasonably tall around [5'11"] , slim to athletically built young guy, without any vsible flaws and/or deformities.
That's why the suit from Suit Supply fits me, but it doesn't suit you so well. For myself, they can work within the given mold, and only slight alterations are required.
A bigger fella like you requires a change of an entire mold; a foundational change of silouette if you will, and they don't bother to include slightly bigger people in the picture...mostly because they're too cheap to do so (too thirsty for profit).
So basically you have two choiches.
    You can:
    (1) choose to alter the suit closest to your size
    (2) choose to alter a slightly bigger garment.
If you choose the first, the suit will be too tight (your size, but not your sillouette in mind) . And then when you send them a complaint, they'll send you another suit which won't be restricting, but sleeves will be too large, button placements will be of, and or pockets would be mislplaced as altered garments are of a same sillouette, while only difference is the reality in ehich they're meant for a taller guy

Jos bank did good for my custom suits. Gonna do a video for that later this year. Nice suits. Good quality. Fits well.
Most MtM struggle due to exactly what you’re saying.

Thanks for another great video! I think it would be helpful to post your measurements, and then the measurements of one of your suits that nails the fit, and the measurements are of the one you're reviewing, measuring each suit with a tape measure. It would be a big help to see just how different companies can be from one another in terms of their blocks.
Also your fav cheaper suit is no longer available at JC Penney, I'd be interested to hear what you think of what the Stafford Replacement for it. It still seems like its got a higher wool content than others in that tier, though it's probably a much better option to spend just a bit more to get something from Spier and Mackay or MySuitTailor.
Going to be any new EDC videos too?

    • @TheDadBod
      @TheDadBod  Před měsícem +1

I don’t have any EDC planned but I can look into another. My next two are going to be a portable clothing steamer and custom Jo’s Bank suits.
I had to slow down the rate of releasing videos due to health issues. I had heart surgery at the beginning of the year. Healed up fine but with kids, a dog, a full time job, and the dad bod; I was always stressed to the max to review, write, release, and edit videos, outside of my normal 40-45hr a week job, plus make sure I’m not neglecting family time. I’m working to get in an every other month video schedule. Especially since the stuff I review tends to cost way more than the channel brings in.
But I don’t want to stop the channel. I love being able to help people.

@TheDadBod Oh, totally understand, I appreciate all the work you've put in already. Nothing comes before health and family, ESPECIALLY CZcams channels.

I’m retired but when I worked I wore bespoke suits and shirts. I’m considering gettin a MTM sport coat to add to more wardrobe since I dress a little more casual but I’m not going to get something on line. I want someone to actually take my measurements.

I’m planning on that fairly soon. Hopefully this year but no guarantees

Are there MTM shops near you ? Some of the MTM chains have on line and some local stores. Enzo, Suit Supply, Indonchino, Hall Madden come to mind.

I have a video from suit supply and Indochino. Both bad experiences. There’s a Jo’s bank nearby. I got nice suits from them. Video to come soon for that. Thinking about doing a full bespoke suit at some point in the fairly near future.

@@TheDadBod I watched both your vids on those. I have seen numerous mentions online of Suit Supply not being good for big guys like us (I am 6'3 dad). I must have gotten extremely lucky - Indochino Chicago store was amazing, they fit me perfectly. I own two suits and two sports jackets from them. Perhaps great - local - staff was the key. I am moving up now to Nicholas Joseph in Chicago to get access to higher end fabric choices for travel and warm weather - 4ply high twists and fresco.

I like your suit reviews, but I think one day you should review a bespoke suit. I know that bespoke can be super expensive but in my opinion, a man should own one bespoke suit in their lifetime. If not try Askokey suits.

I’m planning on it. Not many where I live. I have to drive quite a ways. About an hour and a half.
