The D&D experience is generally about empowerment, and an adventure that starts you off as naked unarmed slaves that are a couple hours from dying of thirst is not how you create that feeling.

The LORE levels are off the charts on this story, just wished they delved more into pattern screamers and their place in the grand scheme of things
Based on little hints of the pattern screamers in this text, I believe it is possible that one of the secrets held within the city is the machine or method the pattern screamers used to cross into our universe from their dying one. Hence the gateway into a world long since uninhabitable.

In fact, if you really think about, we today are probably already 10% inside the doomsday scenario narrated by Jesus, with all these wars, diseases, and multiple attempts of authoritarianism. The creepy thing about Revelations is that you will never know If It has already started or not, since It's said that It would be an era and not a singular event. And for all events that take multiple generations to pass, you simply grown used to It, since It's the only reality you know.

I prefer this kind of SCP instead of the last one. The whole "SCP universe organizations are a hobby of immortals" which to me doesn't work with all the incredibly powerful entities around. It's fun as a story, but not a proper scp. Now this one help flesh out a lot of scps.

All the well placed details, the ways it connects to other SCPS and entities, the vast amounts of lore and the way it world builds and tells an amazingly well written story makes this not only an amazing origin story for humanity and all life within the SCP Universe, but also makes it one of my all time favorite SCPS! DJKactus truly out did himself when he wrote this.

Edit: oh..also.. if you guys like this, as me, maybe you like other similar things... those are more meta/philosophical themes but often based in some fictional lore... but also awesome narration... check out "Like stories of old" ( great analysies and narration of various themes in movies and other media ) and "Academy of ideas" ( more philosophical but very well explained and put together, great narration as well )...enjoy ^^

Out of all of the SCP universes, this one is my favorite. It is so well written and interconnected, it’s amazing.
Seeing your picture of the Firekeeper from Dark Souls made me realize how amazing a game set in the SCP universe could be.
I'd like to theorize that, since the Kaktusverse is already a jewel among universe building canons, djkaktus made this intentional.
What I'm getting at is that Apollyon and Abaddon, despite their different etymologies, are the same title: "King over the Darkness", as who 4840-A (Seth) crowned in the early days.
A call back to the Ouroborus cycle Part, the previous 05-1 mentions the Kingdom of Abaddon (a city-state of reality benders under the rule of their kingdom's namesake) to the Administrator, which lead to the creation of The Children being the answer to this new problem.
Perhaps there really was a Kingdom of Abaddon, in the form of Audapaupadoapalis, and just like how a random area in the desert was obliterated as a demonstration for The Children's power, the true Kingdom of Abaddon was obliterated by the power of Demon Lancelot.
Anyway, that's just my take on djkaktus incredible skip. And that concludes my TED talk.
(P.S. It could also be that the KoA was Old Europe where the Sky-Kings of House Apollyon once stood, then razed by the fae folk, the Daevites, and the Children of the Night).

This started out confusing and was a bit confusing until the details were laid out, but I quite liked this. djkaktus continues to amaze. I loved the music choices in this reading.
Your readings are always great, honestly. But can I just say, something about the way you said 'things are clearly in motion in the dark, and it's likely that, at some point, events from the ancient past, will cause some very real effects in the present.' was powerful. You do have a knack for that, I've noticed. You can explain things in such a crystal-clear way, but the way you CLOSE your readings always hits the deepest.
To be honest i love these long videos, i wouldnt mind having hour long videos so i can listen to while i do work.

@@techpriestemily Pretty sure the story is a direct reference to Yahweh or at least Abrahamic religions with both the symbolisms in the story as well as the characters tied to the story (the Gate Guardian, Cain, Able, Seth, Assem which is also called Adam) so you're probably on to something there.

As in, 'Cain and Abel'. Both of whom are among the earliest SCPs written. If a comprehensive SCP anime is ever created with all the lore , mythos , GOIs and all the places in the multiverse.....it might very well be the best anime ever created . Just imagine the plot and thousands of connections with each charecters and mind blowing revelations ( for those who are not familiar with it ) in each turn.

Most Gamers Against Weed stories tend to be fairly small-scale and character-focused, which gives them a very different feel from the more epic SCPs this channel tends to focus on. Still, I hope he covers them sometime, since one of my favorite things about the SCP universe is how it manages to incorporate so many different genres into one semi-coherent multiverse.
Their conceit is 'ok let's try another AWCY but try and make it not widely-despised this time'.

I think we're not too far away from a Grand Unified Theory for SCPs now. We just need to explain the entity that caused the foundation in an alternate reality to wipe out humanity upon learning of its existence, and also figure out a way to kill the unkillable lizard, and I think we'll be set.
Sounds like Cain is the younger (2nd) brother that called on the reason and affection of the people and was worship by them and cursed (the curse of plants dying around him and intentional harm is redirected back to sender).
While the 1st son discribed (Able/Abel/Hebel) was the one who raised an army to savage his father's (Adam El Asem) lands and was struck down and put in a stone tomb (the stone cube ressurectory tomb of able that reanimates able after he dies) plus the act of raising an army to war sounds more like the SCPs Able/Abel.
I thought Cain was the 1st son, the oldest, maybe there's a mix-up of the two sons or that's how the SCP lore interprets it, if so it doesn't really correlate well other mentions of them especially with Seth.

The city itself actually makes me think of the Bonus Dungeons from the first two games, in the first .hack series. The Flying Giant and the Floating Ruins. Both can be seen in the various fields of the server they're in, both were lost when something infected them, and turned them against their makers, forcing them to send them into slumber.
This is the best SCP video I've ever seen and I've seen A LOT lol. The background music is absolutely perfect.
