  • Keith has his hands on an AEA HP Carbine in .30 cal this week and he is stoked! This short gun is built like a tank and Keith puts it to the test. Ever seen a grown man slap around an airgun barrel just to see if it will hold true!? Tune in and you will! Accurate? Yup! Rapid fire!? Yes please!

This was a review full of positives and negatives. This was an enjoyable and honest video. It's quite frustrating to see the usual "all praise" reviews on CZcams (we all know who they are) so this was a nice welcome change.

Would make a great quad gun. Won’t hurt as bad when it gets scratched up compared to a 2K+ FX ,LCS, or many other high end guns. Been watching this brand for a couple years now and seems to be gathering momentum with air gunners. Waiting to see how parts, service, and how it holds up. Cool design for sure.

Nice review and showcase of its capabilities Keith. I have the standard version 32" barrel .30 Challenger and it is super powerful and super accurate. Price point is definitely the strong point of the Challenger series. Dano winner made me a barrel band setup for it and that really turned the corner for it as I have the DonnyFL Emperor on it. At full power she still is too loud with the supersonic crack when shooting pellets but turned down to the 9 o'clock position it is quiet and a tack driver. I haven't chronograph tested at that position but it eyeballs some problem red squirrels at 35yards. Long barrel equals P.I.A. for anything other than bench- or rested shooting. I like your intentions for the model in your review. I am thinking a .22 or .25 version would be awesome for ratting and inside/tight work for pests of all types. Like your way man....it is always a good journey brother!

I have both the Challenger Bullpup and standard stock 24” .30 and it has amazed me how much power it puts out, accurately.
The 24” barrel .30 is putting out standard .22 lr muzzle energy (not hv) with the 50gr pellets for at least two magazines (18)!
I tried the FX hybrid slugs in it, and I didn’t get that great of groups with it, but Diablo pellets tightened the group from about a 2” circle to thumb sized with 18+ shots.
I am no shooter 1721 or 68 whiskey, so thumb sized groups are impressive for me...

Would love to see your thoughts on the AEA Challenger .30 with the 32 inch barrel. Macabespeed and Shooter1721 gave some decent reviews, and it shows phenomenal adjustable power (I've shot one). Being an unregulated pcp, I imagine someone could gather dope on that Power Adjuster to dial in more consistent shots as the air res depletes. If any one could successfully pull this off, I bet you or Norm could.

I have the 30 cal HP-SS Plus, basically same gun with just a different tank. I have easily put over a 1,000 rounds through mine and it works great. Shoots pellets and slugs both easily. I have a red dot on mine as well. It is just a fun gun to shoot. I would rather shot it than my two 35 calibers. I get 4 magazines out of mine at full power. I turned it down slightly and I now get between 5 & 6 magazines before needing to refill. My only complaint and warning is the magazines. I let one slip out of my hand while loading it and the clear plastic piece spu around really hard and snapped into two pieces. So, I bought two more magazines to be on the safe side. I did manage to superglue the two pieces back together and it works now.

The Pellet Shop is my go-to armory for all my AEA needs. They have a lot of stuff other sites do not (I hate the words "Out of Stock") and prices are good.
Bonus Tip: IMO you can't ever have enough ammo and mags. It is December 31, 2022. Currently The Pellet Shop is selling HP-series plastic mags for $20 each. That's a damn good price and lowest on the Net AFAIK. I liked that deal so much that I (figuratively) bit the bullet and bought 8 (behold the power of this Santa).
With the two magazines that came with the airgun I now have 10 total. That comforts me.

Like you, I have some grand ideas swimming in my head, of what needs to be; tweaked, changed, augmented. The greatest inventions are always rather just improvements on an existing notions.
The valve "locking" at such low pressures when 4500psi is available, means there's much more FPE available to be unlocked, even in such a short barrel. A major drawback of the direct gas cycling being used for the semi-auto function. Doesn't the air rifle world know, that the paintmarker world dropped mechanical cycling actions for electromagnetic cycling over two decades ago?
So much room for an amazing mousetrap... I'm definitely getting one of the .457 versions of this "truck gun" though!
Then again, I also had a tipman 68 when we were long past that technology too
Aside from an antique 12gram .177cal Benjamin air rifle I had as a young man, my passion had always been firesticks.
Then came paintball and a foray into high volume low pressure launchers (think Spud guns, but pnuematics and T-shirts)

The Bullmaster is far too heavy but I love its design. The Blitz is pretty long but a little lighter than the Bullmaster. I bought the AEA due to its weight and folding stock. I note that their HP Varmint AIR RIFLE in .22 is about 70 fpe at muzzle- wow- that's hitting hard- almost what the FX impact can do fpe-wise for their .22- the HP Varmint AIR RIFLE in .22 is getting same FPE as my .25 eagle claw- That's huge-
do you think the .22 HP would be accurate to say 100 yards? 150? or woudl it be pretty much an under 100 yard gun in your opinion? (I'm looking for a good hard hitting .22 for bench shooting at longer ranges- the FX woudl be awesome, but way too far out of my $ range)

It falls slowly and steadily over the shots. Not enough to effect anything under fifty or so. I think their bolt action guns are plenty accurate. Hard to keep,on target with drops that drastic, if I don't keep, increasing spring tension. It seems to be pretty consistent in those numbers I mentjoned- several, tests were right around the same results. I usually click up,a setting when it gets to 850, but that is over a 50 fps drop from where i started . Woild, like to find something with perhaps, just a drop of say 30 feet per second overall, without having to keep guessing on what tension setting for spring to use.

  • @surreallife777
    @surreallife777 Před rokem

I was going to buy one but I’m too scared now. Love the design hate the build quality. Example, a professional shooter on CZcams bought a high powered gun from this company, and it would not fill with compressed air. So he replaced it with another identical rifle from this company and believe it or not, this one would also not fill with compressed air. It was defective too. There’s another video with two Russian twins who have a CZcams channel, they bought this gun and they never used it for about six months. He went out and shot with it and notice something was really weird so he took the barrel out and it was full of chopped pellets. I guess they fixed it and he was shooting with it again and the mag would get jammed after one or two shots. Possibly because these are plastic holders and overtime with hot and cold temperatures they get warped. If you’re skeptical, I suggest you go into the forums and see what other people say. I don’t know why this happened, but he said one of his guns from AEA exploded and almost took his eye out. Too bad, because I was looking forward to buying one of these guns

how do you think it'd handle slugs and longer ranges past 25 yards - 50 +

Can it function 125 grain slugs if you crank it up? It could be converted to single shot. As I saw where a fella was selling a .25 he converted. Nice critter getter.
