test memory DDR5 and DDR4 only Pro version ?
I know this is random, but does anyone know what is causing my laptop to beep when it tries to boot? Only way i got it to work was when i spammed esc and number lock. I’m confused. Again, anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Brian, I am no computer guru, but still able to follow most of you videos. I don't run any tests or changes unless 100% safe....
Also note to add, even when using older version of memtest i tend to test ram until it gets minimum 3 passes, so it means it runs 3 full testing cycles. Some times errors appears after longer stress test as heat builds up in memory module itself that brings problems. So in short don't believe on first pass, aim for longer tests.
Same goes for overclocking!

This happened to me and after a long time ( weeks ) testing i found out it was the bios, after updating the bios never had another problem.
I ended Edge in the task manager and got a blue screen. Microsoft is evil.

Another great video with simple instructions. Now a question, is there anything to test my memory, man it is hard getting, peace out Bro.
While a good introductory video on testing your ram, there needs to be a more in depth discussion on ram timings and ram voltage settings before giving people the advice to replace their ram if they are getting errors. Furthermore with regards to AMD cpu's, the memory controller is on the cpu itself , and if the cpu is over clocked, that will have an impact on your computers ram. The ram maybe perfectly fine, it maybe just the rams timings & ram voltages are set wrong in the bios, or it could be a too aggressive over clock is being applied to the cpu. Finally, it your system has more than one stick of ram, make sure they are of the same speed and same timings, preferably from the same manufacturer. And if you are getting errors, you should test each ram stick individually to determine which stick is causing the problem.
Beautiful software, keep in mind the more Ram you have the longer the test will last. I do 20 rounds of testing because it isn't unusual to have error this late. Great video!

And would the memtest86 test discover such errors with the motherboard memory slots, if there are any? I was building a MAME arcade and retro emulation PC. Since that's all it would be used for I didn't need the biggest, newest, brightest or fastest hardware, so I got the cheapest RAM. I built the PC and it failed to start. Before going through the arduous task of taking it apart and putting things back in one by one and testing, I looked up the QVL and the RAM wasn't on it. I went through the QVL and bought the cheapest RAM that was on it. Put that in and PC fired right up. In this day and age of technology, I don't see why ALLl RAM doesn't work on ALL motherboards.
Nice video Brian now there are two queries for you 1. What is the difference between Memtest86 Pro and Memtest86 free, and 2. What would happen if one happens to have say a laptop that has one stick of RAM soldered in the motherboard does in that situation mean the machine is defunct as I am assuming that most people (like me) would not know how to replace that stick?

I have errors. So should I just replace my rams with the same type because I can still return it because they are brand new or should I get another pair. Or is it because the camp speed is too high??
I've tested two RAM sticks using software recently and it ran for 2 hours and all sectors came back fine but when I used the RAM isolated with just using Windows the one stick would blue screen all day. Didn't make sense at all.

Cheap memory often suffers with ‘bit dropout’ you can get the same thing with good memory if it’s been over clocked too far.
Best case it crashes, worst case it corrupts the registry hive.
Does memtest 86 tell you which ram stick is bad ?
Memtest is okay, but I prefer OCCT.
How long does OCCT take usually. Memtest took 9 1/2 hours for me. Looking for something that’s faster.
@@dbisgood I usually run it for an hour. But, if there are any problems they tend to show up within the first 10 or 20 minutes.
Will it tell you which memory stick (of 4) is having the issues?
only the pro version can do that, don't know if it is accurate, all I know is that the free version will not do that
What 4TB storage drive do you have?
As I'm planning to buy one, but it gets really confusing to make up the mind because of negative reviews and PMR thing.

Memtest86 has been around for quite a while and has a good reputation.
I would usually first go with the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool and run it at default settings.

I keep trying to run the diagnostic tool but it freezes mid way. Same with resetting windows. Dont know what to do
@@mourad80 You could try running SFC and DISM to repair any corrupted system files. If this doesn't help, it could indicate a deeper issue with your hardware or software.

Hi, and tanks for this video ,at boot time I have a " 3F0 " error, with " Can't find windows, please install windows ", this is a one year old HP 45L Gaming desktop running win 11. I can access the UEFI that didn't find any problems with memory sticks, and all other components. Can I use my older PC (win 10 Pro) and copy this software and move it t on a bootable USB stick, , and be able to test my memory sticks ?

You can. But 3f0 usually from ssd/hdd error. I got 3f0 problem last month and solved by replacing ssd
What if the test passes with no EXPO enabled and fails with EXPO enabled and then testing the initially failed sector alone with EXPO enabled passes?
Pc crashes with EXPO off, never had this issue before

I don't know man. My PC is keep freezing when I start any kind of game. Any small load freeze it. And very few time it show blue screen of death too. Is that ram problem?

My Razer Blade freezes evrytime i start MemTest86
Sometimes it won't even start. Sometimes after a few seconds of testing.
(Best was after 1:45 minutes)
Also Window's internal testing app freezes at 1%
I already installed other RAM … but it did not change the issue.

Since i switched it, it seems that the RAM itself seems to not be the problem.
My Laptop freezes on different occasions. Sometimes when trying to install Windows updates, sometimes when trying to install a program, even in the BIOS.
And like said when trying to diagnose.
But I can run Windows etc … it just is unstable. I have no ideas left what's to do.
i dont see a usb flash drive boot option in my drivers :(
I want to do this on the works computer, a program we use crashes every so often even though system resources are not being used. I personally think its a caching issue on the ram

I have a windows 10 box that will not connect to the Win 11 box on my network. The Win 11 box will connect to the Win 10 box. I know my network (public vs private are set right, so I think it is in my services. Would you consider (re)going through what services need to be on for the computer to connect via the network? Along with anything you feel is necessary.
Probably SMB version disparity. If you're on the same "WORKGROUP", both machines are using the same SMB version, both are set to PRIVATE network and *NOT* PUBLIC, they should be able to see each other UNLESS there is a firewall port blocking issue on one or both machines!!!
I don't have a Windows 11 box but I saw similar problems linking between Windows 10 and Windows 7. I also saw this issue when setting up scan to folder on copy machines linking to windows computers. Windows 7 was a breeze. Windows 10 a little bit more difficult. Some copy machines required firmware updates to properly do the SMB security "handshake" with Windows OS. An extremely annoying problem to troubleshoot. Many hours could be wasted. Even anti-virus software caused non-functionality, so I had to discover and make exceptions in the 3rd party anti-virus software. Sometimes I just setup a "network share"...scan to just one folder with sub-folders...then mapped the shared network folder(s) to each user's computer. Only problem was when the network share computer had its login password changed...every 90 days or so...had a lawyer's office that did this...a real pi$$er!!!...and my company didn't even charge them extra to do the correction. Every single "scan to" location in the copy machine address book had to have the login password updated!!!🙄
@@fookingsog I compared the 2 machines settings, they were the same. Even shut off Kaspersky firewall, Win 11 doesn't tell you what network you are on, but both computers have a network address. Tried to compare services between the 2, but really didn't know which ones to check. I did set the SMB setting to SMB Direct, which both now share

Should you test each RAM individually or as a set? I have DDR5 x 4 (one slot on each DIMM) running at XMP. Get an error at 5 minutes stress test on OCCT. Should i test with one dimm installed at a time?
I looked on the site but can't see where it says what size USB flash drive I'll need to download the program.

memtest86 is good lots of ppl use it never had problems with memory here
