  • BUILDING A TURBO KIT IS AS EASY AS COMBINING STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLDS (OR SHORTY HEADERS), A SIMPLE Y PIPE AND A TURBO FLANGE. NOW JUST ADD THE WASTE GATE AND AWAY YOU GO!

Best thing I’ve heard yet. If you’re running 91 you shouldn’t be trying to make massive power.

Wish I would have caught this live! I have a mercruiser 454 that I wanna add boost to.

Same for me I also have a stroker I'd love to know of the turbo would be to much for

Richard you are the man. I have learned so much knowledge from you. I need to learn efi tuning in the future. I'm building a 97 454 that I'm going to try to keep the factory injection with a big single. It's going in a 85 chevy 4x4 1 ton. You are a godsend sir.

Air density is lower in the west usually due to altitude. So the higher octane fuels need more air than is easily supplied by your average engine.

Anything BBC you got my attention.

You can adjust your valve timing with 12:1 compression so that the exhaust valve hangs open a second longer so that it removes some air and fuel before it compresses. Effectively lowering your compression ratio and waisting powered rotation… and defeating the purpose the compression lol. Only benefit is that it would offer some cylinder cooling also.

That’s called dynamic compression ratio . My 10.1 static Compression ratio motor is 8.25.1 dynamic

running 12.0:1 then minimizing dynamic compression with cam timing will also have a negative effect on spool rate-no need for that compression ration on a turbo unless full race

@@richardholdener1727 It was just a general statement. You were discussing boosted 5.0s I believe, I must’ve missed the turbo part. And I agree, I’m a keep it safe then step a foot back kind of guy. Lol. Build it strong enough for 1500, only give it about 1000. High compression is sketchy to me if it’s boosted or juiced. Had a 14:1 302 for my first build and never did it again. Takes a lot of time and money to get it dialed in just so. Takes a day and the same amount of money to boost it and drown it with fuel, and you’ll have better gains 😎 I’ve seen you kind of preach that too lol.

@@scottanderson2403 sure is, I just figured that people who don’t understand how you run high compression and boost, probably also don’t know what dynamic compression is.
