How to play Skyrim with mage

Skyrim has some elements that immersive sims also have, but it's really a linear RPG. You can, however, go for any quest you like. No need to follow the main story. It's advisable that you do some of the main story, some of the Thieves Guild questline, the entire Dark Brotherhood questline, the Dawnguard questline: Choose to be a Vampire Lord, the first Black Book in Raven Rock, Solstheim, the Bards College, and definitively the College of Winterhold.
