"Sorry Mr. President...I don't dance...now GET OFF MY PLANE!"
This has got to be one of Harrison Ford's most underrated performances
Harrison is the True Jack Ryan

Awesome line !!!

Had the opportunity to meet the actor that played the president on a set some years back where my daughter played his secretary in the film. He is a great well spoken educated guy.
Donald Moffat looks like he had class. God rest.
He reminds me of James Cromwell.
I always wondered where I saw him, turns out he’s Gary from the Thing
Harrison Ford is the only man alive who could convincingly play a scene in which his character gives the President of the United States a telling off.
"And while I'm here, there's this little matter of a missing Ark."
Sean Connery could have at the time as well

Just three years later, he would later be elected to office as POTUS and help take care of some hijackers of his official aircraft.
Jim Greer: "You took an oath, if you recall, when you first came to work for me. And I don't mean to the National Security Advisor of the United States, I mean to his boss... and I don't mean the President. You gave your word to his boss: you gave your word to the people of the United States. Your word is who you are."
Jim Greer would take a piss on all these J6 insurrectionists. The lot of em.
Admiral Greer was always an honorable sailor. The oath isn’t to the president or any human, but to the constitution and the people it represents.
In real life, I can't imagine the President taking a meeting like this without his chief of staff or a trusted aide present. But certainly this is a powerful moment in the movie.
Well I’m not so sure in this case think about it. Ryan has them by the balls and they know it. There busy trying to cover their ass. Also in this case the president probably wanted to talk to him alone so no one could acknowledge this conversation ever took place.
Richard Blake - This is actually loosely based on Iran-Contra... The President is based on Reagan/Bush. Bush pardoned the six key figures(who would have been used to testify against him). Who was the Attorney General who carried that out??? He is the current AG... William Barr!!

He was: President Ford
"I'm sorry Mr. President.....I don't dance."
Wow.
It’s the old Potomac 2 step jack 😂👍
The first time I saw this movie, when the President mentioned Greer, I thought Ryan was gonna punch his lights out.
You could see it in his eyes. His eyes are saying "The fact that you are the President of the United States is the only reason that you're not lying on the floor right now with a broken nose."
Right? Greer was his mentor and an honorable man like Jack was. He deserved to go down!
If I remember the book correctly, Jack agreed to keep quiet. But the others committed suicide rather than be held accountable. But also in the book, they had sent more forces to attack the Cartel and the rescue was much more significant. The book was a precursor to the Rainbow Six series and went into greater detail about the Anti-Cartel Operations.
For 99% of the book, I could not put it down. One of Clancy's absolute best. But unfortunately, that last 1% seems forced and simplistic. Clancy had a hard time sticking the landing. So I read the book, except for the last 10 pages or so and imagine an ending like would have wanted!
Almost correct. In the book it was reported to the committee, and it was decided collectively to deal with it quietly. Jack did what he was legally and morally obligated to do.
It's a really good read.
@@shade9272 not a big book reader but always wanted to know the ending.
It also lead to the President in this book tanking his re-election campaign on purpose, and J. Robert Fowler becoming President. Fowler almost lets WW3 happen in The Sum of All Fears.
"I dont dance" has never been badass until mow
When i first saw this movie as a kid, i never really understood the ending. But later as an adult, its one of the better ending i have seen in movies. Well acted but the most important of all, plausible
Yeah there’s no gotcha ending so it’s more realistic
please explain to me, im an adult but not american i still dont understand
@@kucingganteng3148 essentially the president tried to persuade Jack Ryan to help him cover up the president's illegal war in Columbia. But jack Ryan who has stronger moral compass than most declined, hence the line I don't dance. In the final scene of the movie( not in this clip) we see jack swearing in, to testify publicly in front of Congress on all about the president illegal war. Essentially all the things that had happened in the movie. Which is a realistic n plausible ending to a political thriller like this.
@@silkychan6099 Ironically as the book points out, prior to the cover-up, the only thing that was illegal was not informing the Intelligence Oversight Committee. Had they done that even retroactively within a certain timeframe and it would have been legal. Deploying the troops or the missile strikes isn't illegal, the lying, even by omission, to Congress is.
the line about the lecture circuit didn't stand out to me until i've seen war criminals like hillary clinton and henry kissinger doing the exact same thing.
What people fail to realize is that Jack Ryan, in this secnario if it was real, would have lead with 'Your men went behind MY back while my boss was DYING of cancer, sent men off to fight the Cartel and left them to die when I found out. And to top it all off YOU are going to say this is MY fault because I did my job. You're damn right I'm fucking upset.'
ok
I love how the president's voice switches. "How dare you come in here and lecture me"
He was definitely offended at being confronted like that...but, even after that, he tried every trick in the book to stop Jack Ryan from doing what was right...and Jack Ryan didn't budge an inch!
At that moment... the President knew the gig was up. He was going down!
He was naturally ready to put on the BS dignified and calm demeanor until Ryan cut through that and questioned his authority-then he let his emotions get the better of him.
"HOW DARE YOU SIR!"
"HOW DARE YOU COME INTO THIS CZcams VIDEO AND BARK AT ME LIKE SOME LITTLE JUNKYARD DOG! I AM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" - President Bennett
My response....
Yes you are sir....you have and had a responsibility.
NO HOW DARE YOU!
"I don't dance..." is the line I remembered since my childhood and have spoken to a few people.
The feeling was towering. And the consequences dire. 😂🤣
When you're in the right...never compromise. That, of course, is what Jack Ryan meant, when he said:"I don't dance".
It's simply another way of saying:"I don't compromise. You're through, Mr. President"!!!
Denial, appeal to authority, negotiation, reward, threat. All in the span of three minutes. Ryan crumpled up President Bennett like an empty cigarette pack in that meeting. Bennett knew he was through.
Ya gotta love this man! Jack Ryan didn't back up an inch, when it came to confronting this evil toad of a "President"!!!
“…like some little junkyard dog!”
No, I think I would talk to a dog with more respect than I would a slimeball like this President…
Ryan is the dog in the analogy.
Cool 🏂 style
Sorry Mr President.....I don't dance......
Best line in the movie. His polite way of ttelling the president to go fuck himself. Jack Ryan had too much integrity to go along with his scheme. Especially after all he witnessed and endured. Awesome movie all around.
It's pitty that here in Europe we don't have politics that have so much integrity as Mr Jack :-(
PawelK198604 it's pretty much gone down the drain here in America.
It's the same around the world and it's mostly the voting public to blame for voting in the same paries and expecting a diffrent result, if we want change, it's up to the public to demand it because politions don't seem to want to do it, too many are bought off or too scared to fight for the common people.
😏
We need more people in Washington like Jack Ryan
Sadly, they don't last long. The system won't let them.
We had edward snowden and liberals attack him.
Sadly, you don't get that far up the chain by being straight up.
In Tom Clancy's (RIP) world Snowden would return and be hailed as a hero. And the oversight committee would act and push legislation through to curb the power of the NSA and the Executive Branch; government officials would be held accountable even if that means impeaching the sitting President.
But neither Obama or Trump or Biden and the majority of Congress and probably the Supreme Court have taken any action on Snowden's whistleblowing. The world we live in, the CIA wouldn't need to go before Congress to request additional funds for their illegal war. They CIA would just get the money from the defense budget and get to work.
In terms of spy thrillers that come close to telling the truth I'd look at Mark Wahlberg's Shooter (2007) that was expertly directed by Antoine Fuqua. It paints a much more accurate picture.
@@kane357lynch conservatives attacked Snowden as much as liberals. Fox News was pretty vocal about charging him with treason.
It sure was nice to watch movies with class, good writing and believable characters.
And yet, there is nothing actually believable about a CIA official standing for truth and integrity. They're all corrupt to the core.
Absolutely. Many modern actors are too self-aware which makes it difficult to lose yourself into the character and the storyline.

wow had no idea Donald Moffat died, he also did a great job portraying MLB Commissioner Ford Frick in 61*.
He was good in "The Thing" with Kurt Russell too. Great actor.
He also played Linden Johnson in the right stuff in 1983. Donald was an actor of decent accomplishments but not a star, but in this movie he totally hold his own and has some very key scenes, this scene included
@@vids4791 “How dare you make me spend the rest of this winter tied to this couch?! I am The President Of The United States!”
Agreed
This is the epitome of having the guts to speak truth to power… The one major plus Ryan had going for him throughout the entire arc of the Jack Ryan series of books was the fact that he was independently wealthy enough that he was never beholden to anyone…….
Speaking Truth to power would be telling it to the American people. not in a secret meeting within the oval office and two people. Sure we the audience can see and hear it, but we are not in the movie.
@@olorin1710 well in the very last scene of the movie he is publicly testifying
Great fiction I must say. As anyone who has ever worked for a living in a corporate or government setting either knows or eventually realizes, those who can be "team players" are the only ones that can ever get anything near a "deputy" or "assistant to the of" positions let alone one of any authority or importance. Those with morals get to do the real hard work and be cogs in the machine at best or be forced to fall on someone else's sword at worst.
Well the issue was in the context of this movie was Ryan was standing in for James Earl Jones who was the director of the CIA.
He wasn't an insider. Ryan was known as a boy scout. They also set him up after he stood in front of the Senate and said on record he had not ordered any clandestine operations against the Cartels.
If this DID happen Ryan would have every reason to burn anyone who tried to have him killed and drop the blame at his feet when he had proof they lied to him dead to rights.

I did do that with my mother. She was trying to use government money (through my disability) to try and fix a mistake I made with her BF's car.
All I tried to was make a left turn. She tried to take it from me and was going to put it in an account but before she could do it, I told her, "If you don't give me that check so I can turn it in as an overpayment," which it was and she worked for them, "I will turn *YOU* in, telling them you're withholding it from me."

For all GOOD MEN who love Jack Ryan:
Society has taught us two types of men: nice guys or bad boys. They forget the third kind: The Good Man; nice qualities but FIERCE like a lion. He’s a GENTLEMAN (gentle=nice/man=fierce). He doesn’t follow all the rules but doesn’t break them, either.
Nice guys are on bench; Bad boys play the field; GOOD MEN leave the bench and field to go into the world to become of worth: works hard, stays healthy, develop confidence and is a traditionalist. He doesn’t chase women or success because all he has to do is present himself with his options. He also may be alone- at times- only because he’s not part of the matrix; He truly sees right from wrong. People will call him a “boys scout” but he isn’t because those are nice guys while bad boys become- later on- bad men or they crash and burn. Good men are the real leaders (even when they need to serve others at times).
JACK RYAN is that GOOD MAN.
Other great examples of GOOD MEN from movies: Oscar Schindler, William Wallace, Maximus, Count of Monte Cristo, Rocky, Jack Reacher, Ethan Hunt, John Mclane, Robert McCall, Jesus Christ.
Steve Rogers too.
