loerya99 tell all of those lazy Democrat voters that!
They outnumber republican voters but are just to damn lazy to go vote, otherwise the Dems would win more elections!
They are too damn busy with their faces in their smart phones, hanging out at the club, sleeping or some other thing!
They spend longer in a grocery store line, but won't stand in the voting line which is usually shorter and only takes about 7 minutes!

I usually smile when some people think others don't have common sense while those people look at them too and think they don'thave common sense.
At the end, election choice like others is a personal one that mirrors each person's individual and group experience. Since we can never have the same exact experience with others, it is unwise to expect them to see things our ways and so vote the way we choose to.
Having this awareness and maintaining it as we debate and interact with others is what is missing in today's highly self-centred world.

This allows for anything from small differences to extremes & even civil war. Such is life. Twins are so unique, they have been studied for their unusual commonalities.
Well said, but so? We resent, get angry & embrace others for these differences & welcome others to our poles for their support & potential influence. Our palet; our planet.

We have to teach our young people, middle school and high school, Civics and History. I wish we could stop groups in Texas, Georgia and other States from re writing history. I wish we could stop the DAR and the Daughters of the Confederacy from vindicating racism and treason. I wish we could teach skepticism and critical thinking to everyone from grammar school up.

Everyone has their history and it isnt for anyone to deny it because they werent there and didnt live it and didnt hear it and didnt inherit it. The Northern elite wanted and still wants to write hsitory for everyone else whether it be POC or Women or The South. Fooey! on that. Most of the south didnt own slaves for instance. And anyone who doesn't do her best to avoid, hide, trick, mitigate and expel invaders ransacking and burining their homestead doesnt have a will to live.

Historically, a failed impeachment could actually strengthen Trump. The key is McConnell. He would allow an impeachment trial under one of two situations. 1. There is the needed 2/3 majority of senators to remove Trump (unlikely, IMO). 2. There isn't a 2/3 majority of senators and he can both embarrass Democrats and use impeachment to regain Congress for his Party (more than likely, IMO).

Rather than a fireside chat, as a baby boomer, our TV was on every evening for the news until I went off to college. Some of my earliest memories are of the news. There was that scary man (Joe McCarthy), and I wonder if 4 year olds today get exposed to today's scary man (Trump). I think a four year old's judgement of character may be better than many adult's. I was never frightened by the news, but felt I learned a lot from it. With adults plugged into their phones, I think children are missing much.

Yes! and “Who we are cannot be separated from where we're from.” says my favorite professor, Malcolm Gladwell.
1968 wereThe Wonder Years and I was ten years old. We came home from school and went out to play.
We sat down to dinner and watched the news. Walter Cronkite calmly read the days events.
John Wayne and Batman made me want to do good. Martin Luther King, Jr, and Joan Baez taught me empathy.
Laugh-In and The Smothers Brothers made me laugh.
My friends and I bought a POW bracelet. We picked up glass bottles to make a few cents and we gave away those few pennies as we one by one dropped them into the Salvation Army buckets at Christmas and to the Jerry Lewis Telethon at the end of our lovely Summer.
I grew up, joined the military, raised a family. I feel grateful to have eaten a lovely dinner and then turned on my computer and now I'm reading some very thoughtful and smart comments from a few other fortunate people like myself.
I believe people want to be good. I believe Social Media is a very Wooly and Wild, Wild West but we're getting there.
Happy Holidays and Peace to you, Ruth Depew

Lincoln lost the popular vote. Lincoln would have sent troops into the sanctuary cities and states in order to force them to obey federal law. I think Teddy Roosevelt would have done the same. What tripe this is.

Bzzzzzt. WRONG. In a 4-person race for the presidency, Lincoln received 39.8% of all votes. The #2 person got 29.5%, #3 got 18.1%, and the last guy got 12.6%. Lincoln got more electoral votes than the 3 others combined, but that did not matter. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1860_United_States_presidential_election

ANY irreconcilable policy controversy requires reframing in ways both parties can agree to. They both agree to "border security" as a legitimate issue. Only numb skull are stuck on a monetary amount for a "wall." Last I knew we lived in a democracy. If crime is the issue, there are plenty of ways beyond "wall" to negotiate strengthening "border security." How about a fact based inquiry e.g., Where are the drugs coming in over the border? The air? The ocean? Over land? Those numbers are available if "border security" is the ACTUAL rather than a fake political issue.
