In this video, Brittany takes the ice with me to hammer on forward stroking and snowplow stops. She makes great progress by the end of the video.
Brittany recently began skating at the age of 33 in hopes of building a strong foundation of skating skills. Her ultimate goal is to make it as an ice girl on an NHL Ice Team.

I love how you use students that are at different stages of their learning journey rather than 'expert' skaters. I can relate so much better when I can see myself in the student and it shows the natural skating progression rather than a perfect end result that there is no way I could replicate with such little time on the ice. The details you go into are everything and is a constant reminder that skating is a very active, conscious process from head to toe. Kudos to your students for sharing their skating journey's with us - it is very helpful!

Truly exceptional teaching - incredibly fine-grained perception, beautiful explanations and clear instructions to match - our heart-felt thanks to your 'skating heart and soul' !

it's not the hamstring (=musculus biceps femoris) that works most during snow plough stopping but rather the quadriceps muscle which prevents the knee from bending thus keeping the body upright. The hamstring works when one stretches the leg behind and holds it in this position.
The hamstring in case of stopping plays only a secondary roll being the antagonist of the quadriceps; I think, the more experienced a scater is, the less he uses the hamstring because he knows how to master the kneework with quadriceps only (or almost only). Sorry for bad english.

When you do a one-foot tango stop, where do you put pressure on the part of the stopping foot?
