Nowadays you couldn't do that with more modern trucks. 4.8 liter engine with almost 194,000 miles, bought it 3 years ago, used to be a motorcycle hauler at a dealership, then had 168,000 miles paid almost $2400, since then it's been a great truck. A decade ago, no, actually eleven years ago, I could walk out onto a dealer's lot to inspect at least thirty-five Silverado 4X4s and Z71s in enough configurations to make it interesting. These topped-out at $39,000 and started at $34,000; all were extended cabs or crew cabs. Just across the street the experience could be replicated browsing Sierras. Now, of course, the dealer would love for prospective buyers to spring for something much more opulent.

One thing I'm glad you showed : On the V6 Regular Cab W/T without keyless entry, they are still putting key cylinders on both doors. I spent at least an hour looking through Autotrader posts for new basic regular cab work trucks, and all the ones without the W/T Value Package or W/T Convenience Package (which give you keyless entry) didn't even have any pictures
I really don't care about keyless entry for a car this is key start. Also, it seems like a lockout waiting to happen if they were only going to have one door have a key cylinder when there's no keyless entry. While you could call AAA and see if they could Slim-Jim it open, you could also save yourself potentially hours of B.S. by just going to the passenger door and getting in that way if it also had a functioning cylinder.
Also nice to see that GM also started putting cylinder locks on the manual tailgates too. I have a funny feeling the manual tailgate won't look so bad in about 10-15 years when all those power-opening tailgates start dying, and you're either dropping > $1,000.00 for a new tailgate or several hundred to have somebody rip apart the tailgate to replace the electronics / solenoid
I realize the 2021's have been out for a while at this point, but thank you for doing a walkaround of "Plain Jane" pickup, you'd be surprised how hard that is to find now
I'm also going to guess that since the 2021 was largely a carryover from 2020, that the base trucks without keyless entry probably still have key cylinders on both doors

Most dealerships won't stock too many trucks like that because the profit margin isn't near as good as something with 4 doors. But in my home town every plumbing, electrician or pest control business owns a few regular cab long bed trucks.

I enjoy driving these with the big v6. Just such a good cruiser. My dad had a 94 v6 single cab. Loved driving that truck.

For everybody complaining about not having cruise control it's a bit ridiculous. If you are consciously paying for the lowest model with roll-up windows, then chances are this is strictly a work truck that you drive around your town and county with little time on the interstate weather its construction our lawn care or Plumbing etc. You're not going to be buying this to take road trips or do long commutes in. I've had cruise control for many years in most of my vehicles and the only time I ever use it is when I'm traveling on the interstate for more than an hour or so and out of normal City traffic areas.

I'd rather have manual windows, locks, no cruise, no AC manual trans, etc. If I want something plush and cushy I'd buy a car.

This is why im done buying new trucks. The last and only chevy i bought new was a 2012 silverado z71 4x4 extended cab for $32,000 (around $400 a month). The same truck today would probably be around $600 a month with money down.

@@andromeda9340 Exactly, everyone complaining about the 2wd one not having a hitch, cruise, or power windows/locks......evidently they don't know what a basic "plain jane" work truck is.

I love the new trucks. But honestly power windows and remote locks should be 100% standard. My 86 chevy has more options lol.

This is what a truck should be. Simple, 4x4, nothing fancy just a truck to get the job done and you from point a to point b. I'd honestly take that Silverado over the fully loaded high country model and call me crazy but there's just something about a single cab long bed that looks so rugged. Crew cabs aren't real trucks!

The crewcabs are the most common. I only see very little regular cabs around nowadays.
