Nice demonstration. Having stripped my now 10 year old MBP several times, I have a few tips for anyone attempting this:
    1) phillips 00 and torx 6 needed
    2) the four short screws on bottom case furthest from the hinge side have a shoulder and so should be kept separate from the other short case screws
    3) don't forget to re-seat the microphone at 11:15 (removed at 9:43)
    4) yes, the keyboard ribbon cable at 12:08 is tricky to re-seat. It helps if you make a 'pull tab' by attaching a piece of thin 1" tape to the outer side of the ribbon so that you can pull the ribbon back into its socket (towards the hinge-side) as you position it with your spudger.
    5) most important - you won't remember the steps so either make very detailed notes before you start or have an alternative working computer to watch the video as you do it.
Before replacing speakers, it might be worth removing the bottom case an using a hoover to remove all the accumulated dust (this considerably improved my muffled/crackly speakers). The same holds for a muffled microphone, remove it, hoover and clean the hole (miraculous results on mine).

Thank you. I was quoted $285 by my local computer repair chain for speaker replacement. I bought the speakers and tool kit for $40 and was able to do the replacement myself. This video did a really great job of walking me through the replacement process. I watched it twice before I started and everything except the microphone replacement was covered perfectly. I realized the microphone repositioning step was missing and accounted for that. Again, thank you.

I wish I had bought new speakers when I did the WiFi card upgrade lol. Did basically the same repair twice, because right after I did that, the speakers went out. Glad I changed them, they had 13 years of junk (not mine either, I just got the laptop) built up in them and the left speaker was shredded lol

Hi. Very nice explicit video. I have a question. How to check if the subwoofer is working on MacBook Pro 15" 2011 without opening the laptop ? Few days ago I had a cracking noise on the right side of my laptop. I was suspecting that the right speaker is broken. I went to a guy to fix it, after 40 minutes he called me saying that he replaced the right speaker and the subwoofer...saying that they are attached together. The sound is not cracking anymore on the right side. But I feel the sound it's not so loud and bassy anymore as it was before. I'm thinking that the subwoofer was broken and he only disconnected the subwoofer and left only the 2 speakers working. Any advice? I'll really appreciate.

my 2011 macbook pro speakers are acting weird. suddenly the sound quality will lose volume and sound very thin. (sound like tin can speakers) if i smack the back of the macbook usually the sound will improve back to normal. sometimes it last a day or more then will revert back the lousy sound quality. do you think this replacement will fix this intermittent problem?

    • @GRIBSOFT

@@GRIBSOFT to anybody that had a problem with losing bass and midrange. (speakers sounding like tin cans) i found the problem to be loose solder connection for the small 3 watt amp on the logic board. i could push on the solder joint and get the sub to work. THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. NOT A BAD SPEAKER. your choice is repair the solder connection or replace the logic board. changing speakers is a waste of time and money.
