Lol'd. I was 12 when I played the original Kingdom Hearts. Holy mother of god, I remember struggling on this fight, and the moment I was able to beat him, I was so happy.

KH1 was more difficult. It's Terra that was difficult >.>
I don't know about that. Practically every one of Sephiroth's attacks were a one or 2 shot, the QTEs had to be dead on or he'd one shot you, and this was usually about a 10 minute endurance fight of avoiding his main thrust attack or Heartless Angel along with 2 other phases. if you're in the 40s-50s level range. It's definitely fair to compare this particular boss fight to DS difficulty (both franchises I'm a huge fan of, btw)...
RagedTron In KH2 he's a lot less challenging actually. The player here kinda went too aggressive. Honestly.
But his attacks all are easily avoidable.
Heartless Angel, you CAN jump into the air and attack him, which stops him from taking your HP and MP away.
His standard attack (The multi slashes) can actually be countered midway of it (Guard and then press Attack to use Counterbreak)
The volcanic eruptions can be walked away from even though he vacuums you in.
Reflecting his dark spheres will avoid you getting hurt by them as you push them away.
Sephiroth can take TWO finishers, if you use more, he will teleport.
Then his meteors can be avoided by using Arial Dodge.
The other thing about this battle that I discovered recently is that if you make him lose 3-4 and a half hp bars, he'll use different attacks. And what I found out, if you stand at a certain distance, he'll be spamming the standard attack (mostly this), Heartless Angel and dark spheres a lot. Which is all easily avoidable to be honest.
Reason as to why I said Dark Souls is nothing like this, Dark Souls has a lot more ways to dig your damn grave compared to this here. Dark Souls requires you to be aware of your surroundings and prepare for unexpected.
Sephiroth is only threatening if his attacks actually make contact.
Dark Souls. Holy hell that's a lot more of a rough time. I really wish I could say it's about the same difficulty.

For a second, I thought he cheated or something, but then I remembered there were abilities that made you retain 1 HP. It proves how long it's been since I last played it. I miss it :(
10 fuckin' minutes of beating his ass and getting our ass kicked. Not to mention that we almost died countless times and sephi just dust the dirt away from his shoulder like nothing happened. Dammit!!

I remember the first time I went face-to-face with this almighty boss and in the cutscene, Donald and Goofy looked like they were gonna help me out. Next thing I know, they're not there with me. I was all alone. I was like "WTF? That shit don't make no sense....I'm fucked ;_;"

Man I remember spending hours trying to beat him. And I remember clearly how triumphant I felt when I finally beat him.
Just that epic feeling of that final blow... That FINAL strike that let you know YOU won, that YOU earned this victory. You fell like you've reached that height of hypness, YOU have become a true, udder, bonafide badass! That feeling you can NEVER truly forget. Congrats to you for beating a legend my brother.

You can use Trinity Limit or High Jump and Aerial Dodge to reach him while he does Heartless Angel.

hearing the original ost instead of the updated one in the 2.5 is so nice, also not being able to use any drives during this fight made it truly fun and difficult.
I really like the reverb in the old KH2 ost, the 2.5 tracks just feel a little less lively without it somehow, although that's probably just nostalgia

For those of you that say he cheats at 8:16, you have obviously never experienced the heavenly abilities of Once More and Second Chance. Yes, Sora's hp dropped to the critical zone while Sephiroth was giving him a full body haircut, Sora retained 2 hp the entire attack. I may have the descriptions flip flopped but Once More allows Sora to retain 1 hp should his health get that low in the middle of being combo'd, Second Chance also allows Sora to retain 1 hp after taking massive damage. Sora was still in the animation of taking damage while he was being attacked which is why he lived through Sephiroth's free full body haircut with 2 hp.

Shouldn't you have your forms fully levelled? At the very least, have your glide? It helps to reach him before he can cast Heartless Angel. Plus, I do believe there's an aerial launch start move you can use to reach him. I can't remember exactly, it's been years since I've touched this.
This is great, nice job on this one -I remember he really was so difficult to beat in the original game. Now I'm working up to beat him in 2.5 HD

do you know you can actually stop the heartless angle attack. if you kinda stay close while he ascends you can hit hi before he reaches the maximum height he can go for that attack

What lvl where you at that time? Im at lvl 58 and I got Ultima Weapon, but still, his Perish attack gets me every fricking time

second chance
Once More lets you survive a combo with 1 HP left (Provided you have more than 1 HP when you get hit of course). Second Chance is similar but is for single attacks. Those two abilities and Leaf Bracer (which lets you heal without being interrupted) are essential for difficult boss fights.

for some reason his thunder attack was able to slip by during the heartless angel, leaving the rest of his magic unscathed. didn't think that was possible either haha.

One of the more enjoyable videos vs Sephiroth I've seen. The ones where he's beat in 4 minutes without taking damage or other ways are so boring. It's always fun to remember how hard and powerful Sephiroth was, not seeing him be destroyed without trying. Nice vid. :D
I forgot how BEEFY the sound bites for Sephiroth's attacks were.
Also, I didn't know you could cast Thunder just before you get robbed of your MP! That could save players so much trouble!

Something that you can also do that you didn't mention in the description is use aerial dodge and your high jump to attack sephiroth before he takes all of your mp and hp away with the attack where he says, "Descend. Heartless Angel."
Well... It seems that I need to use magic more often... I never understood how Reflect, Reflera and Reflega work... And how the heck can you avoid/cancel/nullify/what kind of sorcery is this/block the heartless angel attack??
You can either use the Trinity Limit attack to reach him, or just have High Jump with Aerial Dodge equipped together to reach him.
