I'm one of those people who have had the pleasure of seeing Queen back while Freddie was still alive. I saw them twice back in 1980 & 1982 and saw them do this song live. This cover is amazing and I'd think Freddie would be tickled to hear it.

@@bethvargas8841 You're correct. Brian has said in interviews that the center section, or "Operatic part", was too complicated to reproduce on stage due to all the overdubs. When I saw them as it came to that part the stage went dark, the band snuck off, and the video section of the song played on a screen. As it came to the heavy part the stage lit up again and they finished out the song.

M- Thanks for all the hard work to chop, cut, and trim what it took to get this one past the YT copyright police. From what I've heard, the problem is Queen, not PTX. Hopefully, that's true and you won't have similar problems with future PTX reaction uploads. There are LOTS more great titles in their catalog! When you get to it, "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" should be a slam dunk. Tchaikovsky died in 1893, so he won't block anything! :-) PTX' arrangement of "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" received one of the group's 3 Grammys! That's pretty amazing when you realize that it has no instruments and no words.

Other reactors use pauses to get past the blockers... It's hard to do in PTX videos because you have to pick the right spot, and it's easy to get caught up in it. While commenting DURING the reaction can make the video longer, try pausing to make a quick (5 second) comment about something cool that just happened. 4 to 6 pauses usually helps in a video this length. This is the PTX video I LOVE watching new reactors watch. There is SO much to enjoy. Great reaction.

You have entered their world ... enjoy the ride. I noticed that every time Avi (the bass) hits his low notes you move your hand to your throat as if you are trying to imagine that sound being produced ... it is that amazing. Avi has his on tune ... Change on the Rise which showcases his lower register ... powerful is an understatement. Save "Mary did you know" and "Silent Night" for this December ... watch one the 11th of Dec and the other on 18th .... two Christmas presents you will enjoy ... every time you hear them. ... Bonsoir demoiselle!

With their name - it was taken from the 'pentatonic scale' which is five musical notes - so because there is five of them they used 'Penta' and then 'tonix' ( their version of the plural because there's five lots of the scale as they all sing ). PTX will do fine - everyone knows who you mean if you just use that 😊 Your reactions are awesome - Someone mentioned that when we ask for requests that we should say if it's an original or a cover - I think that's a great idea when someone is just discovering PTX. Then you can go check out the original afterwards to see how you think PTX did ! Enjoy learning more about them, we're here to help ! 💝

I don't know if anyone also mentioned it, but there is a story behind the couch. Early on, Scott, Kristie and Matt sat on a couch making videos as a trio that they posted on CZcams. when they applied to appear on SING OFF! that were told they needed a minimum of five members so Avi and Kevin were added. When Pentatonix won SING OFF!, it included a record contract, but the record company, figuring there was no market for acapella, dropped them. But, instead of quitting they went back to their roots and started doing videos on the couch and uploading them to CZcams. They proved to be so popular, they were signed a new contract and the rest is, as they say, is history.

It's a shame that CZcams forces reactors to jump through so many ridiculous hoops to get past the blockages...
All things considered, you did a great job of capturing the key elements of their arrangement. (Mitch's "guitar solo" was a huge one!). If you're familiar with Queen's original version, Pentatonix did this one as a homage to the Queen original, doing as much as possible to capture the sound and feel of it, from the opening, that sounded almost exactly like Queen, to the left-right "sound panning" fade that Queen liked to use, to the "piano transitions". Rather than do a lot of the crazy breakdowns they're noted for, they really tried to stay true to the original, and it's amazing how closely it tracks to the Queen "Official Video". Thank you for putting in all the effort to get this one up and running.

The app you used to pronounce their name in your reaction to hallelujah, did a fairly good job. If you break it into two words pronounce the penta the same way and American would pronounce Pentagon, and tonic‘s the same way you were here in American talk about gin and tonic. When you put penta-tonics together you get it pretty good.
If you go back to their 1st performance on “The Sing-Off” (A TV a cappella competition that they won to get their start) they are introduced and you will hear how they pronounce the name correctly.
If you want an introduction to the group, there is a Pentatonix for beginners video on CZcams that will give you a lot of good information, but it may show you some of their music as well. If you are up for a marathon viewing of their discovery, there is another CZcams video that has all of their performances from “The Sing-Off”. I just watched it again today with my kids, we love it.

They wanted to do a "Bohemian Rhapsody" cover from the beginning, but they were afraid that they couldn't do it justice. After five years they decided they were finally ready, at which point the real work on the arrangement began. I'm not sure how long that took, but I think about a year. Several months, at least. (Remember, they still had other things to do at the same time, shows to perform, a new Christmas album to put together - I think they start working on their next Christmas album the day after they release their current Christmas album - other albums to work on, not to mention just living their lives.)

There were a number of times in your pas through video where there were brief interruptions in your pass through video. I know you interrupted it for copy right purposes, but these seemed to be random, and hopefully you experienced it without these interruptions. Loved your reaction. They always bring amazement and joy to my heart.

This video wasn't one shot. I think it was 10 hours outside on a street they closed off. The couch was a on a track that was mechanical and it moved the couch. I think it was controlled by remote? At one point Kevin (the beatboxer) fell off the couch. Didn't get hurt! But he did fall off the back of it. And there was a malfunction which caused the moving back walls of the set to close when the couch was moving between them. The walls closed on the sides of the couch, damaging the set and things had to be repaired. 😂 but, no. this wasn't one shot.
their "Evolution" videos are one shot. If they mess up they start over. When they get it right in one shot that's what is uploaded.
When they perform live there is no track playing in the background so everything is the happening right then and there. If they mess up you hear it and luckily this group does not mess up very often and they sound as good live as they do recorded. If you want to hear how the sounds live you could watch one of the Evolution videos. "The Evolution of Ariana Grande" is a good one that is the most recent Evolution video.
In real time they're releasing new music every week from an EP they dropped last weak called "At Home" . It's because everybody is at home with the pandemic going on and they wanted to make music . They got together over a program like Zoom so they could talk and see each other even though they are in their own homes to pick songs, do the arrangements and discuss what they wanted to do visually for each video . Then they set out to record their parts from inside their homes without being able to hear the other members. They came up with lighting and learn how to use new programs and shot their part on their iPhones and then sent their recordings to their producer and he put all their parts together and they made an amazing EP! But the videos blow my mind because they're not together! Not only did they record their vocals without hearing the other members of the group, but they recorded their part for each video as well from within their own homes They just released the second Official video from that EP on Wednesday (titled "Blinding Lights") . It is SO good it blows my mind that they weren't even able to hear or see each other when they recorded it and that's also why you'll see five little separate "boxes" with one person in front of a different background for the video. They were all in five different locations. I really enjoy your reactions. Your facial expressions are so much fun because your eyes are filled with wonder and it's a really happy thing! Thank you

So I recently started following these 2 French guys on tiktok and after watching their struggles with American words,, trust me when I say this: do NOT worry about *how* you pronounce English words as a French person!😊 English is a freaking hard language to learn so I am hella impressed with how good your English really is! Besides, people love accents so don't try to stifle it hun!!❤ xox
Edit: ALSO, a little tip to help avoid copyright strikes, and I know it sucks, but pause the video throughout & talk about it. AND there is a behind the scenes video they did showing how this one came together😉

I remember them from a US TV singing competition called 'The Sing Off' in 2011, they won it with a $ 200,000 price. Wow, they have come a long way. Their CZcams channel currently has over 18 million subscribers and 4 billion views. Ha ha, I just found the video from that 'Sing Off' here on CZcams, and have to repeat, they have indeed come a long way, because that first song sounded like pretty disorganized chaos, LOL.

    Thanks. Nice reaction.
Usually, a whole song can be used in a reaction vid, as long as you do pauses. But in this case, since it's originally a Queen song, you're answering to a big-time copyright holder and maybe it was necessary to remove some portions. Too bad.
By most accounts, Mitch was not really using the megaphone as a megaphone... it was turned off and was just a visual prop.

Hi, nice performance. Excellent mix. The group who actually pioneered and established the style years ago were a combo called "Take Five". Way ahead of their time with this type of presentation. Also in league, but a higher shelf, would be Jacob Collier if you would care to listen to other. It's as much studio mastery as well as singing. Love and light,

Penta, meaning five, and tonix, a play on words, In music, the tonic is the first scale degree ( ) of the diatonic scale (the first note of a scale) and the tonal center or final resolution tone that is commonly used in the final cadence in tonal (musical key-based) classical music, popular music, and traditional music. So Penta-tonix meaning "Five musical Voices"

Elle est pas géniale l'idée du mégaphone pour rendre le riff de guitare?
