    I have a 2017 Giulia Veloce Q4, and I absolutely love it! Crisp steering and handling, good comfort, nice sound and so far absolutely reliable and a blast to drive! The electronics allow for a (very limited) amount of tail slip, so its a ton of fun on small, winding roads. Autobahn low altitude flying is fun, too, with a lot of Porsches and other sports cars not being able to keep up with the Giulia in curves. On long straight sections, pure horsepower wins, of course, but as soon as the curve fun starts, heavier cars (such as Porsches) find it increasingly difficult to keep track. Brakes are great and are, as the rest of the car, very crisp and responsive.
    Seats are very comfy and provide a lot of support even in fast driven curves (I have the Lusso seats). The leather trim is very nice, and the wood inlays are good quality. Trunk space is adequate and the seats are very easy to lay down to gain additional storage room. The shape of the space between the trunk and the backseats is a bit small, though, so you'll find it difficult to get large boxes through there.
    Electronics is a bit of a weak spot, I had three or four recalls for software issues. Nothing dramatic, but recalls nonetheless.
    Overall, the car is very enticing and definitely a driver's car. If you're more on the "conservative" (slow and fearful) side, this is probably not the car for you, but if you enjoy driving and want to let the car fly every now and then, by all means, get this absolute masterpiece of Italian engineering, you won't regret it! It definitely is worth the money, and can compete with German car in all aspects, except maybe for resale value, but if this is your first priority, then you're not an Alfa driver anyways.

    Having owned my Giulia Veloce 2017 (same color options, that Misano Blue is majestic! Yellow clippers really make the car pop as well, I have a tobacco leather finish inside which really elevates the joy of sitting inside it) for the last 2 years I can agree with you on almost all points. It feels sharp, responsive and kicks a good amount when you put your foot down
    I also agree that the exhaust is a bit too quiet, at least on lower revs, dosent really sound naughty until you hit 6-8k rpm, I plan on changing the exhaust system further down the line to something a little more punchy
    One of the few things I would change are the seats, they are good but I miss a bit more adjustability, I had a 159 ti sport wagon beforehand and it nailed the seat adjustments, the Giulia is missing a little on that front, but that's more of a nitpick
    Yes it can be a bit tail happy, but I've only ever experienced that on snow, but in a fun way, it feels planted when you need it to be, but it can have a good laugh if you let it go for a little bit. Then you laugh as well
    I am very sure you would love this car as your daily just as much as I love mine!

    I will admit in my past I have owned a E46 320D Saloon and I absolutely hated it , .
    It felt organic and not integral and above all not charismatic .I was looking for a 159 2.4 JTDm at the time but could not find one ..
    But ironically I found one a month and a bit later at Denbury Diesels ..
    So I made the arrangements to part ex etc and purchased the 159.
    Oh it felt like “ I was Home “ from all of the Alfa’s I have owned in the past and with this one ..
    I could describe it as having a chemistry with the car , I knew exactly what the road was like under the tyres , how much grip I had , how much steering turn I needed and in what direction etc etc ..
    I never tried but I felt I could drive a road I know well with a Alfa blindfolded from what feedback it gave / gives me ..

      My business partner had a 4 series and I liked it. Huge boot and a nice looking car. Not very involving to drive though (like many BMW’s). If you drive a Giulia you will be amazed at how much more alive it feels - and it looks better too in my opinion. If you are in the UK, then 4wd makes sense in the Winter but don’t expect it to perform like a rally car! If you want a purer driving experience then buy the rwd, as it steers better and also its quite a lot lighter than the AWD. Have fun!

    I am going to pick a Veloce myself in a couple of weeks. I am not saying I am buying, since you buy a car but you "simply bring home" an ALFA!
    I am particularly thrilled to drive a Veloce Real Wheels Drive since in ITA (and other European Countries) the Giulia Veloce is All (4) Wheels Drive. This adds circa 60kg in both side of the front, making a small vaiance to the otherwise brilliant and precise proportion of weight (front / back). Furthermore some drivers found a small lost of grip in extreme driving conditions with 4WD in Veloce model.
    What do you think? Is the real wheel drive Veloce the best driving experience of all Giulia and maybe in the class (Qaudrifoglio is not of this planet, so let's exclued it)?

      @@TheAlfaNut yes probably a used Quadrafoilio would be better. Or a Veloce without the ti designation as no more power than a Veloce. It just has some styling bits added from the Quadrafoilio without any increase in power. Previously Alfa reserved ti to the top models only which meant they also had more power. Eg I used to have a - 146ti, which was the most powerful in the 146 line up a 2.0l twin spark engine. But with the Giulia veloce and veloce ti there is no difference in power just Quadrafoilio wheels red start stop button and a spoiler even the front inlets are missing. • @joergmaass
      @joergmaass Před 4 lety +4

      I have driven both the QV and the Veloce, and they are two different cars. The Veloce is a nice, crispy fighter jet that is a blast to throw around on small roads and Autobahns alike, the QV is more like getting strapped into a Saturn V moon rocket that tries to take you to "infinity and beyond". Don't get me wrong, it is not uncontrollable or anything like this, but you should definitely bloody well know what you're doing behind a wheel before you even think about driving it. A bit of race experience comes in handy as well. Don't forget, it has about twice the horsepower and torque of the Veloce, and weighs the same! When I did my test drive on wet November roads with the QV, I was drifting sideways on more than one occasion, and I had the DNA selector on the tamest setting. Do yourself a favour and get the Veloce first, get used to the power and the crispness of the Giulia, and when you've mastered the Veloce, by all means get a QV, this is a supersports car in a very deceptive and attractive package that'll have you grin like a maniac every time you drive it.

      I’m also doing a ecu remap with some amazing ex Alfa techs and the results have been staggering I’ve been told - even the Alfa dealer who put me on to them said they do a tremendous job. And all who have done the job are super satisfied.

    Great review thx Chris. I had a Mito 5 speed for 10 years which I loved however after a decade of Australian summers ungaraged it's trim was looking rather poor. Factor in a AU$2500 90.000K service, brake pads and some other hoses and a trade-in value that was flushing down hill faster then last nights vindaloo I decided to upgrade. With no new model Mito and the 1st gen 2019 Giulia's receiving bad reviews here for poor interior components and build quality (plus not really wanting a 4 door) I jumped brands and went with a BMW 230I M Sport 8 speed Auto. I love all the tech and I don't miss the endless gear changes and it does have plenty of power but not the "feel" of an Alfa. Initially my plan was to keep the Bavarian Mustard Weiner for 5 years (mainly because it came with 5 years service and roadside) and then look at a new GTV, however Alfa have now dropped the GTV concept. With Alfa upgrading the materials it uses and interior build quality on the 2021 Giulia's now receiving excellent reviews I'm thinking it time to re-ignite my Alfa love affair? Will wait for a sales campaign with servicing included as the 5 year or 75,000K service costs here are well over AU$3000 - does the engine in the Giulia have an annoying and expensive Timing Belt change required every 4 to 5 years at $1200 like the Mito did?

    The answer to that is simple. Firstly you have to ask yourself of you can afford it. 2nd, the veloce will be a great car. Everybody will watch when you pass by because it's rare and special. 3th, how will you feel driving the veloce and a Quadrifoglio passes you. For me the 3th is very important. I don't want to be jealous, i want to be happy and that's wat I am every day I walk to my car.

    Veloce for me is really best variant. I live in Australia and the Quadrifoglio is too expensive to buy and maintain since I live in Australia there is no chance of using its full potential.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  Před 4 lety +2

      ....but looks like a jelly mould! 😉. Tesla’s are fast for sure Alex but the point is that fast isn’t the only consideration. My current car is a hybrid and does not stir my soul one bit. I need something sporting and Petrol powered and if that makes me a dinosaur then so be it!

    • @alexshepherd
      @alexshepherd Před 4 lety +1

      The Alfa Nut that’s fair enough - I do get where you’re coming from, I’ve owned Alfa Romeo 164, 166, 156, 147 GTA, Spider, Gtv, and Giulietta :) the Model 3 is quite unlike the Model S though, it does bring its own sense of character when driving; you can feel the techie inclinations of the designers but there’s a surprising competence to the chassis behaviour. I think it drives better than it looks, and the sheer power (not just torque) is surprising too

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  Před 4 lety +1

      To be honest, I have nothing against electric cars - I’ve owned 2 hybrid electric cars now (Mercedes & BMW) and its obvious that they will replace internal combustion engines before very long but that is another BIG reason why I want a fast, petrol engined Alfa before they get banned! Tesla will end up being the biggest player in the market as they are light years ahead of all the other manufacturers, even the ones who sell electric or hybrid cars already.
