It is very very difficult for tv shows to have consistent quality plus where else could the show realistically go? They'd done everything and it was just running into repetitive ground had they continued with it.

They easily could have announced a last and final season that explores how Fran fares after his assault, whoever takes over the gang, Patrick being arrested, Moynihan's feelings towards Patrick for killing Siobhan, the possibility of Tommy waking up and realising she's dead, the unpaid debt to Terence May. There was plenty of material for a last season.
This was not a made up scene. The series writer was told by police during his research that this did happen in real life. However, in the real incident, the corpse was removed and put in the livingroom of the convict's house for him to walk in on following his release from prison

Aiden gillen is such a whore for all the heavy accent dramas…haven’t seen this show yet but Peaky blinders last season is taking forever so it’s either this or gommorah and I believe that’s in subtitles so love/hate it is

I fast forwarded all parts with Darren. The gangster with a heart zzzzzzzz its happened already in a hundred different tv shows and movies. Him and Rosie crying all the time got repetitive fast and a terrible actor too. He would sound like he is from Dublin then a different scene Mayo.

Fran was my favorite of them all. Shame the series ended, at least fran survived. Granted he'll never be able to sit the same way haha.
