I've seen these cruise through our small town with less than 2000 people in rural wv I dont own a rivian but seeing their service truck all the way out there going to work says something about how good their service is
@Couch Potatoes it's true that the electric motor itself is, in general, more reliable day to day than a comparable gas engine simply due to the number of moving parts involved. But there is also value in being able to repair those individual moving parts as necessary rather than replace the entire electric motor when it finally does kick it. And if you factor in the increased number of systems being included on electric vehicles you can expect an increased number of failures of those systems. When those systems are things that you cannot simply fix yourself by hitting up auto zone or Walmart, then you can expect an increase in the number of required service calls, and therfore the existence of this truck.
That's probably part of it, but when it comes to doing consumer electronics maintenance, you do just simply need a lot of tools, especially if you're going to try to repair instead of replace everything. And if you're trying to be a luxury brand, you almost certainly have the money to make some truly impressive maintenance vehicles
Awesome service 👍🏻. Seeing the tools strapped in the cab reminded me, I'd love to see you do a video on safely strapping down a spare wheel for vehicles that don't come with one (or the space for one). Without becoming a projectile in an accident in the boot in an SUV for example.

The fact that they use there own vehicles loaded to be used for a purpose really says something showing what there trucks can hold and the features the rivian is by far my favorite
John Deere approach i think is what you're looking for. Anyone can fix apple products. But yeah, Rivian encourages working on them yourself, but no need to fix issues that are under warranty.
Lexus has been doing mobile service/roadside service for more then 20yrs so I’m not surprise that my old boss Mike OJ is now running the show at Rivian! I Don’t mind doing that again🤙🏼

Tesla also offers mobile service and mobile tire services, you bozo. Tesla was the first automaker to offer mobile services. We primarily use Model S vehicles that have been retrofitted to become service vehicles. We also have a small fleet of Ford Transit vans that have also been outfitted to be used for mobile service. The mobile tire team uses a large Mercedes-Benz van that has a tire machine and wheel balance machine on board.

Not necessarily. If you're selling what is very definitely a luxury vehicle then I would argue as part of that you should be able to do at least some kinds of repairs at the customer's house. Like replacing a screen for example, you should not need to take that to a shop, I would imagine the reason there are so many different tools in that is rivian probably wanted to do as many different kinds of repairs as possible at a customer's house or on the road. With the amount of money Tesla makes, I would imagine they could probably get their hands on some vehicles that could go as far as basically rebuilding an entire Tesla so long as the frame is intact, especially if they get those semi trucks that they've been trying to make for a while fully functional, you can absolutely make an entire mobile service garage out of one of those things and I think that would be the sickest thing ever
Electrical fires for modern batteries on EVs pretty much never happen, and only a handful have ever been documented in the last 5 years. 15 unrelated safety features have to all fail somehow before that can even begin to catch a battery on fire. Not to mention, that is a fire extinguisher that would worm for electrical fires.

They've started delivering Rivians here in Canada. I just checked how far my home is to Rivian's Canadian service centre. 3,756 miles! I kinda doubt they'd dispatch a service truck to help me where I live. For me owning a Rivian would equal being on my own.

They've started delivering Rivians here in Canada. I just checked how far my home is to Rivian's Canadian service centre. 3,756 miles! I kinda doubt they'd dispatch a service truck to help me where I live. For me owning a Rivian would equal being on my own.
