What did my Walk In Humidor Cost?

- In this video I show what it cost me to build a Walk In Humidor in my home. This was a closet conversion so there were no walls to open up or any major structural work. My math in the video is a little off ($1250.00 minus 333.73 {Salvaged Lumber} = a total cost of $916.27). Post any questions in the comment section. Thanks for 1000 Subscribers! Please SUBSCRIBE.
i feel as though i speak for everyone in saying we need another tour of this masterful closet
Very very nice. I'm envious. Now all you need is a cigar lounge in your home. Unless you already have one...lol
You the man 👌🏾one DAY Ill get to that level one DAY ✌🏽
Fantastic work, looks great!
Awesome job on the humidor. Great cigars, I see. Some still with the box. The presentation of materials, design, and setup once that door opens is 8.8/10. If it had been double doors it would be my ideal home humidor.
My math was not stated correct on the walls. Total cost was $1250.00 minus $333.73 (because I salvaged the lumber for the walls) = $916.27. This was my total cost with salvaged lumber walls.
Too rich for my blood
Great video and what an awsome walk-in Humidor.
I think the only thing I would have done different is to lower the ceiling. It would have been easy and since humidity rises I think it would be easier to keep humid. If you make a huge collection of cigars then it might be a requirement /
A 150 cigar DM treasure chest humidor costs like $1500, so under 1k for a walk in ain't bad at all!!
Sir, I’m grateful for this video!!! That’s a beautiful setup!!!
Well done - I dig it. In fact, I dig it so much that I'm going to do the same thing in my retirement home; which Lord willing I'll be moving to next month. Thanks for sharing this brilliant idea Sir. Cheers,
That is absolutely beautiful..... Even the door being white makes it look super elegant... Fantastic job
Fantastic brother ive watched every video on your work a very good series on your project 🦁
This is incredible! Love this! Smoke on
Props to you! Great work!
That is absolutely beautiful. What a great smoking room as well. I am sure you’re enjoying it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words.
This is a great price for not only a walk in humidor, but for a humidor in general. I’ve seen some boxes that might be 18 in x 12 in for $300-$350
Will definitely come back to this and your 9 parter when I get a place that I will be at for a good while.
Thanks for sharing!
Cool idea. Thanks for making and sharing the video.
Absolutely amazing and superbly done and thanks for the motivation, I will cut my cost down to hundreds of dollars. Thank good sir
“WOW”!! Amazing! Thank you very much for sharing!!! You just gave me n idea 💡.
Truly a fantastic job sir.. INCREDIBLE
How cool is that! That's outstanding!
Excellent job bud, never thought of turning a closet into a walk in humidor.....great idea
If you own a home and have a closet, you can have a walk in humidor! Thanks for the positive feedback.
i love your humidor. im going to do one in my basement mancave under my stairs next year. looks pretty simple to do too. thanks for the video.
Sounds like a great plan. Let me know how it turns out.
Did you do it?
Great video, thank you for uploading all the info you provided.
You did a great job. This looks awesome. Good job.
Thanks for watching
Man, this is gorgeous!!!!! I so wish I was handy. Very nicely done!
Never late to start
Absolutely outstanding! Well done....
Thank You!
Very well done my friend.. Would love to have one of these in my house and now after watching this i just might have to start making me a new project soon lol
If you enjoy cigars and own a closet you can build one. I'm trying to start a walk in humidor movement:):)
Fantastic work! I also love your litlle personal smoking space. That is so much nicer than having to step outside to smoke. Living in Vegas you are either freezing or frying when you smoke. Very little time in between the two "seasons".
It is great for the fall and winter.
Looks awesome. Beautiful handwriting too
Thanks!
Nicely done.
That, my friend is awesome! A small price to pay for your beautiful puros. One day I hope to be able to do this, and if/when I do I may just follow your lead and go with same materials. Sealing the pine, and vapor barrier was good thinking! Enjoy!
Thanks for the kind words and good luck!
Wow!! That's pretty awesome. Keep it up.
Thank You!
Wow great video thanks for the insight :)
Great job on the transformation of the closet. Now I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I have close to 1000 cigars in 2 refrigeratored style humidors. Thanks for the video.
Let me know how things turn out. Thanks for the comment.
Just dont use cedar if you dont wanna mess up your cigars.
Wow thank you so much for posting this. Awesome Awesome job
Thank You very much!
that is beautiful great job, we subbed you.
You are super talented!
def going to build one of these when i build my next house.
You are very intelligent and so active I enjoy your videos
I appreciate that!
Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
Thank You!
Very good . Am in the Bahamas . Will make this . Thanks for the share
Good Luck!
Ballin’, truly magnificent 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
You're a badass my friend
That’s awesome!
Looks great!
Beautiful, well done.
Thanks!
Im sure it would also be a great space for wood and stringed instruments, I'd say thats not a bad deal to maintain an investment or collection. Great conversion.
Very cool, well done! Thumbs up!
Thanks!
Love it Very Nice
Excellent Job...
This is superb .
I know I'm a few years late to this party, but what a great idea and set up! Giving me ideas to convert a closet in my basement. This seems to beat the free standing 5,000 count humidors for a fraction of the price.
You seem to be very handy. It would be quite easy to cut in an outlet inside your humidor and pull power from the outlet the extension cord is plugged into. Then you could eliminate the cord running under the door. I work part time as an electrician it just happened to catch my eye.
Agin, great work! I'm jealous, my stack of tupper-dors looks foolish haha.
Great video!!!
Awesome walk in closet humidor!
Thank you!
This looks awesome. Now I just have to pick a closet in my house that I want to do this with...
It has worked very well for me. Good Luck!
Well done sir!
Thank You!
Very nice! Hope someday to make one of these that will replace my little coolidor!
Sounds like an excellent idea.
fantastic!
Did a great job.
Beautiful! Your talented brother
Awesome video.... thank you
Thanks!
Nice job, enjoy!
Thanks!
Wow brother amazing job...
Thanks!!!
Impressive very impressive.
Thank you very much!
Looks great. How many hours did you put into it? You do need to value your labor. Thanks for the great content.
NICE!!!
That’s awesome
Good for you. I like it when the poor man beats the system👍
I would like to see more people doing this because it works perfectly. Thanks for the comment.
I use to have a huge walk in my father's store I own few desktops but thags the way to go....it's nice...
Thank You. I am getting quite a bit of interest in is video series.
Looks great
Thanks!
That's sickkkk
Good Job!
Thank You!
Hello, first off I LOVE your build! I noticed that you used Yellow Pine on the walls, can I use Yellow Pine sheet (panel) and cut them to fit my walls, or only tongue and groove? Thanks!
Nice muh man
very nice, i like it
Thank You!
Well done, sir. I’m jealous.
Locate a closet and build one. Everyone should have a walk in humidor. Thanks for the support.
Very nice sir. Thanks for the tips as I am using this video to help build mine. Maybe I missed it but what humidifier system are you using?
I purchased a "Set-and-Forget" humidification system from Stabell & Associates. They design commercial walk in humidors.
What I don't understand are the 8 dislikes. WTH??? This is freakin AWESOME!!!!!
Thanks!
Great walk in humidor.
I gotta ask though, was it any issues with putting an electrical outlet in the room?
Well done. Now, where do you smoke your cigars?!! 😂
My walk in humidor is actually in my Cigar Lounge. I have done "Cigar Lounge Tours" over the years but it has been a while. I will try to get one out there soon. Thanks for the comment.
Very cool
Thank You!!
Can I do the same thing with a bookcase with glass front for my cigar room. Seal it and put a humidity cigar system in the bottom.
Well done Sir, I can't even control the humidity in my 100 cigar humidor.
Thanks!
That's impressive
Thank You!
Extremely impressive! I'm sure you've been asked this, but would walk through the construction process for us? Great care must be taken as this is no ordinary closet. If you've already done a video addressing the construction aspect of this project please attach a link to it. I'm ready to do the very same thing to my hallway coat closet and would greatly appreciate your advice and guidance.
I have a 9 part video series on this build. It is in my playlist on my channel.
Thank you so much for your reply. I found the series. I’m planning construction soon. I know we all appreciate your hard work. Amazing.
Did you use American cedar and if so have you noticed any changes to the flavor of your cigars that is the only reason I have heard not to use it
I think you have done an amazing job
I did a lot of research into this build before I started. American Red Cedar (ARC) has the same basic properties as Spanish Cedar (SC) except that it can be twice as aromatic. Typically the walk in is built with 100% SC. No other woods are present. They recommend using considerably less ARC for a build just for that reason. The only place I used ARC was the shelving, shelf brackets, trim, and floor. If I had used it on the walls and ceiling I think that it could have tainted the taste of the cigars. Using the small ratio that I used I have not noticed any taste differences. Thanks for the interest.
StudnickaAquatics You proved that a person can use alternative material. I’m building a wall humidor our of Qtr Swn Sapeli and I’m using it for both the structure to have the appearance on the outside as well as on the inside. I have read a few custom humidor builders moving to Sapeli because it has great properties but won’t dis flavor the cigars. For your application due to space I think your materials are great. I’m sure you’re enjoying
@@studnickaaquatics80 not exactly true. SC has a high sap content which resists mold and bugs, but which also makes it far less aromatic and ultimately has less of an effect on your smokes. ARC, like you said, is twice as aromatic and will influence your cigars twice as much as a result. The aromas are also distinctly different.
If you plan on doing any long-term aging, the cigars that you age out in the open with open boxes will end up tasting like arc. That is not a pleasing taste 8n rolled tobacco
Excellent it did turn out really well. The only question I have is the door seal at the bottom did you do anything special so it's airtight? Thanks for a good review as always, GMM Naples Florida Minnesota Iowa depending on the season LOL
I did not have to use any weather stripping at the bottom of the door since I had a fairly tight fit. One of the main problems with home walk-in humidors is the lack of air exchange. In a commercial walk-in the door is opened and closed a few times every day. This allows for air exchange. In most home walk-in's the door may get opened once on a weekend, if that. This can create stale air inside the humidor which can lead to problems. I actually open mine every morning to grab a cigar to take to work. Thanks for the comment!
@@studnickaaquatics80 of course that makes a lot of sense you don't need the weather stripping then okay thank you have a nice weekend
I'm jealous 👍👍👍👍👍
How long did it take to build. Very nice but I notice your outlet is outside your humidor and the door did you seal around it. I'm impressed by the work you done good job
I worked on it off and on for 6 months. I took my time. The electrical cord goes through the wood at the base of the door and is sealed. I also sealed around the door. I have had it up and running for over a year now and it is working perfectly. Thanks for the interest in my channel.
Hell of a job!
Thank You!
Yup labor is a big cost. If you’re good at figuring and know what side of the to to use… you may pay in time, but cost goes down.
A wise man once said
“what’s your time worth?”
Another wise man said
“Show me the money you saved”
This wiseass says “know enough to get into trouble and who to call when you get there”
Nice work. Looks great.
Nice
Thank You!
Very freaking awesome. Im worthless or id attempt to make one myself
Thanks for the support. I do enjoy the walk in.
Did you have to do anything for the door in terms of keeping a good seal against the rest of your living space, or is it just a standard door installation?
It is a standard door install except that it fits real tight. I did not want to use weather stripping because of the aesthetics and the humidity. I do have to remember to make sure that I close it until it latches.
I’m looking to building one above my garage in my man cave. I’m not gong to keep the entire room at a specific temperature just because it won’t be used that often. How would u recommend keep the temperature right in the humidor
my whole house has cedar walls and ceilings already, and my father in law that built it for my wife before i met her still has a pallet, so when we build on over the next year ill defiantly be building one of this for my man cave
Very glad to hear that. Let me know if you have any questions.
StudnickaAquatics thanks, that will be awesome
I couldn't find the video on your cigar room itself. Can you provide a link to that video?
Living the dream
It is a very relaxing place after work.
Love it. Who makes the humidifier?
It is made by Staebell & Associates. I purchased it from aristocrathumidors.com.
How did you make it air tight around the door and ceiling and did you treat the sheet rock with some type of sealer and is it vented any other way besides opening the door. Very nice and classy job well done.
I have a video series on my channel that answers most of your questions. I did do a lot of research before starting this project. If you watch the videos ans still have questions let me know. I would be more than happy to answer your questions.
Honest question - Is the cedar actually needed? The cigars need humidity and temperature control. I've seen the online shops vids and they have huge walk-in humidors without any cedar used in construction. (I love the work you did, its awesome.)
You do not need the cedar. Three woods help to regulate temperature and humidity, Spanish cedar, American red cedar, and Honduran mahogany. No other types of wood should be used unless it is completely sealed. I have also been in cigar shops that do not have any types of wood in them. As long as you can regulate the proper temperature and humidity you will be fine. You obviously do not want any other odors or perfumes.
@@studnickaaquatics80 regular cedar has too strong of an odor and doesnt actually hold the moisture properly. It can destroy cigars. People may say it doesnt matter but if your collection is worth $100+k and you want to store cigars for decades then it absolutely matters. Id rather line my walls with plastic than regular cedar.
