    One thing that I like about this fight that some people seem to fail to notice is that during the "2v1" Qrow doesn't actually do anything to assist Tyrian in the fight, he simply doesn't attack him and focuses on taking down Clover instead. Tyrian meanwhile actively pushes and twirls Qrow along, keeping him in the fight. Tyrian was rigging the entire fight ensuring that Qrow and Clover would wear each other down. Even before and in the early stages of the fight he tried to make himself seem like the lesser threat. He pretends to have been knocked out by the crash and when he joins the fight he intentionally avoids attacking Qrow, primarily blocking him instead giving Qrow the illusion that he was weakened and/or vulnerable. That way when Clover continued pressuring him, Tyrian was able to spring this so called cease fire on Qrow which mind you he doesn't really accept more like just chooses to avoid attacking him for the time being, ultimately failing to realize that Tyrian has ultimately rigged the entire clash in his favor. I believe Clover realizes this near the end, because he starts trying to separate the two and begin focusing on Tyrian but by then it was too late, Qrow was too tired and desperate to win to see through the ruse and in a moment of weakness, thinking Tyrian had been immobilized, he knocks down Clovers aura, giving Tyrian the moment he needed to strike.
    Ultimately this fight was doomed for Qrow and Clover from the start. Tyrian had so thoroughly rigged everything in his favor and took advantage of both men's circumstances. Qrow's feelings of betrayal mixed with Clover's stance on following orders made it child's play to pit the two against one another. No matter what Qrow or Clover did, one of them was going to die. This entire fight is just one great tragedy. Just as Tyrian fully intended.

      Doesnt matter if he wasn't actively helping Tyrian, he's still attacking Clover WHILE Tyrian is not restrained. Far as I'm concerned, he was using Tyrian as collateral/bait but still should've have been the primary target first. Cause even if he and Tyrian fought after Clover was killed, it's still a waste of time and still would've had to have fought twice.

Imagine if he and Hazel were fighting the heroes together, they'd _have_ to dodge Hazel's attacks lest he overpower them and Tyrian could capitalise on their moment of distraction. Qrow is an idiot too, but only for punching Clover when Tyrian had been captured. Everything before? 100% justified on Qrow's part

      His nieces were about to get captured by the military. He needed to get out of there fast and that meant taking down Clover to get him out of the way. If anything, Clover pressuring Qrow to the point he had to team up with Tyrian was worse.

    • @skyemori3209
      @skyemori3209 Před rokem +7

      The explanation is...there actually. In reality, 1 of them is going to die. Either Qrow dies or Clover's. Even if Qrow focuses on Tyrian, Clover will prevent him which will be Qrow's death door will come in if you ask me. Qrow is an exceptionally skilled huntsman just like Tyrian, knows even if his emotions were stirred by seeing his niece and betrayed by the ones whom he known for a while, he made the decision to finish it fast or else he'll die. 2nd to point out, Clover is the biggest idiot of the three. While Qrow gives clues on who to team up with, Clover insisted to attack Qrow than the threat who is just there. But he realize it too late, if he only do what Qrow's does, it would be an easy thing for Clover and Qrow win this one even if 1 of them dies, at least capturing or subduing Tyrian. 3rd, Clover has a choice and chose the other way around. That's how can you tell someone is stupid enough to die. Qrow was right to take on Tyrian, Clover's was an idiot for stopping Qrow, and whatever Tyrian's can do, it is up to the two who would fall. Since in the beginning, Tyrian is rigging the fight between the only two and directing it to them instead of his.

    People keep saying how stupid Qrow was for teaming up with Tyrian instead of trying to take him out first, but the thing is, Qrow *did* try to focus on Tyrian first. The moment Tyrian entered the fight Qrow immediately switched to him. And then again, even after Tyrian offered to team up, Qrow still moved solely to attack him. Problem is, both times he focused on Tyrian, Clover used the opportunity to attack Qrow while his back was turned.
    Clover was so focused on following Ironwood's orders that he prioritized Qrow's arrest over tyrian's arrest.
    Qrow only switched targets when he realized Clover wouldn't let him focus on Tyrian without dealing with him first. In other words, Clover forced his hand. And Tyrian of course, used this to play both against each other, allowing them to wear each other down and do the dirty work for him.
    To his credit, Clover seemed to realize what was going on towards the end, switching to focus primarily on Tyrian. Unfortunately, by then it was too little, too late.

      @@SirSpangler I'd still wager Clover would've been able to take Tyrion out. Unless Tyrion's aura has crazy regeneration, it should have still been gone or at lest weakened form the short time before when he lost it. If he did still have it somehow, ti would've been even more greatly damaged by the crash. That and Clover's semblance is luck (though Clover's and Qrows semblances seem to rarely even matter when it comes to many of the fights they're in.) and Tyrion seemed to have difficulties against Clover's weapon, mainly how to even counter it.
      All this being said, again, Qrow was the voice of reason for a short while while in the transport, and pretty much said it was fine and that they should talk to Ironwood to clear up what's happening. Until Robyn decided she wanted to fight and Qrow decided he didn't want to be the rational one anymore.

    • @SirSpangler
      @SirSpangler Před 4 lety +34

      @@bradleyhandsonjoehallschro5419 Oh? You think Clover could have taken on Tyrian alone, and that Qrow would likewise think so? Tell me, what's the margin for failure on that? Because, if Clover can't... there's no going back from that.
      Look at it from Qrow's perspective. He could disengage, *hope* Clover can take Tyrian despite needing 3 to 1 odds previously, *hope* Clover can keep Tyrian from killing a completely defenseless Robyn throughout said fight, and *hope* that Tyrian wouldn't just himself disengage the moment the fight turned against him. Likewise, This is all assuming that Clover, who as we saw in the fight vastly prioritized arresting Qrow over Tyrian, wouldn't just immediately leave Tyrian and Robyn and go in pursuit of Qrow.
      *…Or* he could just stick around and help handle the situation himself. Like seriously, that's a lot of things for him to just hope works out.
      Another thing to note... aura seems to replenish itself fairly quickly. Cinder had her aura knocked out during the fight at Haven, but then fought Raven just a few minutes later. Jaune had his knocked out during the fight with cordovin's mech, but then boosted Nora moments later. And I believe there are a few other examples throughout the series. Considering the fact that none of these are ever treated as odd, it indicates that aura may not actually take all that long to replenish.
      So yes, for all we know, Tyrian's aura was fully replenished, or at least decently replenished. He himself didn't seem all that concerned with getting in a fight with two of the people who recently defeated him.
      Also, did we watch the same scene? Because I remember Qrow trying to deescalate even during the fight on the transport. Hell, the only reason he got involved in that fight at all was to try and stop the other two from beating the crap out of each other.

    • @bradleyhandsonjoehallschro5419
      @bradleyhandsonjoehallschro5419 Před 4 lety +6

      @@SirSpangler I'm not saying that Qrow thought Clover could take on Tyrion, but he'd certainly have a better chance beating him without Qrow being there (going by that it was CLover vs Qrow vs Tyrion). It would also be safe t assume that since Qrows semblance is bad luck and Clover's is good luck, they'd just sorta cancel each other out.
      Now how's Qrow teaming up with Tyrion 'handling the situation'? Teaming up with a murderous psychopath to beat down another guy into submission/giving up? Did Qrow think that Tyrion was gonna be honorable and not take down Clover and just have a 1v1 with Qrow afterwards? Now I use 'team up' but I know that's not exactly what happened, however, when you stop fighting the literal agent of that world's devil and let him fight alongside you... you kinda did that to yourself. We can guess that Clover wouldn't be able to stop Tyrian from killing a k.oed Robyn, but Tyrian could've done so before he engaged with them. And yeah, *maybe* Clover would've still pursued Qrow if Qrow left in a bird form, which would've just made Clover look all the dummer by leaving Tyrion with Robyn.
      As for the aura regen, I don't recall Cinder losing her aura before she fought Raven. I remember her being injured from silver eyes, but there's no indication her aura broke, she just sorta... collapsed. And isn't Jauns whole deal that he has a ton of aura? He has a lot of it, it replenishes faster than others, he's able to boots other peoples auras and semblances with his, it's sorta his deal.
      And no, we watched the same scene. On the transport when Qrow decided to get involved was after Clover tripped up Robyn and knocking her face first onto the floor (CLover had ample time before she stepepd back into the fight to go and cuff her, 12 whole seconds I believe.) After Robyn goes down, Qrow says "hrh, fine" and takes out his sword and attacks Clover. Clover says he" wishes it didn't have to come to this", Qrow responds with "it didn't have to." To Qrows credit, he's right, he was the one that made the first one against Clover instead of just sitting their or helping Clover to properly restrain Robyn (and thus proving to Clover he wishes no ill intent).
      Qrow never stepped between Robyn and Clover. Clover seemed to have had a handle on things and Qrow destabilized it by attacking Clover. It doesn't really matter anyways when characters hit each other, they don't really take physical damage until their aura's depleted.

    People say nobody's actions in this fight make sense, but I can only really see that for Clover. Robyn is a malcontent whose tentative alliance with Ironwood has just been shattered by the revelation that he's abandoning her city (And her teammates, who are still down there), and essentially turning Atlas into a police state. Starting a fight in the Bullhead wasn't a good decision, but her only other option was basically sit quietly while her city is abandoned, her friend is arrested, and she's taken into a police state, where she'd likely be detained or "disappeared" on arrival. She has no reason to trust Ironwood or Clover.
    Qrow has just found out, through a panicked and cut off message from his niece, that Ironwood is planning to abandon Mantle and declare martial law, and then finds out that there's a warrant out for his and his family's arrest (When he, at least, hasn't broken any crimes). Even still, he tries to talk Clover down, but with Tyrian agitating and Robyn backed into a corner, there's really nothing he can do but defend himself. As for his makeshift alliance with Tyrian, with Clover focused solely on him and Tyrian being so apparently willing, he didn't really have much choice there, either. He was probably planning to backstab Tyrian as soon as Clover was out of action, but was beaten to the punch.
    Clover was absolutely stupid, yes, but technically he was only following stupid orders. Like all the Ace Ops, he puts far more blind faith in Ironwood and the system than he really should, and shows a relative lack of free thinking shared by the rest of the Ace Ops, sans Marrow. He followed his most recent orders - Arrest Qrow -, above all others, including detaining Tyrian. Had he put aside his orders to team up against clearly the greater threat, he might have survived, but he didn't, and that's the point. it's to show how bad that kind of fanatic, near-robotic loyalty and discipline can be.
    Add on the fact that they're probably operating on little sleep and high exhaustion (Remember, the attack began in earnest in the evening, and Clover died the following morning, so that's probably 24 hours awake, and at least 8 or so in combat) and Tyrian fanning the flames, and while it's not great writing, it's not as horrible as some people make it out to be.

If a truce or even an alliance between the two is to happen, it's up to Clover to step up and regain the faith Qrow has lost in him. But he didn't. What’s interesting is this is a fight between some of the most dangerous Huntsman we’ve ever come across in the show. Not powerful like Maidens or with some constantly using some flashy ability, just raw skill and semblances that tilt things in their favour in a way that is terrifying to really consider. Look at Tyrian and his semblance. The man can cut through Aura, the one power that makes all the death defying stunts the characters pull off possible and if his hands didn’t glow when he used it he’d be even scarier since you’d never know when to block with a weapon or to tank with aura. Qrow and Clover can manipulate luck to their favour, though they’re flavoured as good and bad respectively. That isn’t a power you can dodge or plan around, you can only pray that when you fight either of these two that your shoelaces don’t come undone or that their allies show up at the best possible moment. And to top it off, they don’t have the weakness of being unskilled or physically weak, these are Salem, Vale and Atlas’ most skilled and reliable warriors as a whole. I mean, Tyrian is the one sent to capture Ruby and kill the other Huntsman from Haven, Qrow is confirmed in universe lore to be a celebrity in Vale and Huntsman circles since he’s that strong and is widely known to be the best in the Kingdom, and Clover is the leader of Atlas’ top group of Hunstman. It would’ve been great to have a couple of the main cast here simply to watch and realise how outclassed they are.

  • @meumixer
    @meumixer Před 3 lety +8

    watching it at half speed... qrow's expression and body language just before he and tyrian """team up""" is so heartbreaking. he just looks resigned. he doesn't want this, but in the moment, tyrian is the lesser threat (or at least seems to be) and if he wants to get back to the kids, he has to incapacitate clover. it's the logical choice, in qrow's position, but in his mind he doesn't really *have* a choice - fight tyrian AND clover (at best, he'll be too worn down to help the kids when he gets back to them, at worst... he doesn't make it back to them) or accept the only help he's going to get, even though it's from the enemy.
    his plan was probably to knock clover out and then take on tyrian, but clover sealed his own fate when he disarmed qrow. honestly, he likely sealed it when he told qrow rwby was under arrest, because if clover is willing to fight qrow like this, what would he do to the kids? what if they're hurt? what's happening to them *right now* and qrow's not there to help? qrow was willing to go quietly and ideally talk it out until he realized the kids were in danger. robyn escalating didn't help, sure, but clover seemed to forget that they were *already* in a prisoner transport. he could have just quietly requested backup to meet the ship when they landed to take qrow and tyrian both, but instead he decides that securing the *literal serial killer* is less of a priority than arresting the man he's been working with for however long, who he probably knows well enough now to talk it out with, and who is a reasonable person and not fucking insane like tyrian.
    also... my personal opinion is that the punch that broke clover's aura was a *lucky* shot, not an *unlucky* one. clover's good luck helps qrow in the moment, not qrow's bad luck hurting yet another person he cares about. because - correct me if i'm wrong - we never see clover touch his pin during this fight, so he's not focusing his semblance; we know qrow's bad luck affects others seemingly at random, why would clover's good luck not work the same way when not focused?

Tyrian expertly played both men's emotional instability (Qrow) and frankly idiotic sense of "duty" (Clover) against each other. The few times Qrow tried to engage Tyrian, Tyrian just maneuvered in such a way that it either worked for him or against Clover; or Clover directly interfered and tried to attack Qrow while his back was turned. My problem is mostly with the way Clover was so mentally stunted by his loyalty that he prioritized arresting the PRO HUNTSMAN he was on FRIENDLY TERMS WITH over the fucking SERIAL KILLER.

      And your fifth time missing how many times the characters disappear, including qrows sword. And how many times the characters could see things coming but didnt because somebody forgot what line of sight is.

      Avery Whitaker ? None of that matters if you enjoy the scene. Enjoyment is subjective and for some people completely independent of quality, which is also subjective. He’s not oblivious because he likes it. You’re ignorant to think that because you dislike it, everyone must.

      @@KevSB07 quality is objective, this scene was made poorly, see the amount of continuity errors. People should in my opinion call bad things bad, which even if you enjoyed the scene, it is not good objectively, and subjectively is not what I'm trying to get at.

    The remarkable thing about is that Tyrian barely had any aura in that fight, yet, he still had the upper hand when it came to his moments.
