So excited to finally drop this video of "I Wanna Take You for a Ride" aka the character select screen from Marvel vs Capcom 2. This track is based on the original 8 second loop that plays from that game, but expanded with additional music and lyrics as if it were a FULL SONG. I loved listening to the original loop so much that I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like if the iconic vocal loop would be if it were the chorus of a full length song, so I asked my dear friends from the band Lawrence to come in an help me co-compose the rest of the imaginary tune, and this is the incredible result!
Clyde Lawrence, who wrote the lyrics, did an amazing job incorporating some great references to the MvC2 game and community itself!!
I also couldn't help myself as an arranger but draw countless funky easter eggs from one of the greatest horn bands of all time "Tower of Power" see how many you can catch!!

1:22 - more trivia - these lines are from Yipes, one of the all time great mvc2 players. Hes mt rushmore legendary not only for his play, but his 🐐ed commentary. One of the phrases he made up was "where's your curly stache at??" - in marvel if you get "opened up" that means you've had your defenses broken, basically tricked into blocking the wrong way, or opened up like a can of pringles. So the curly stache is referring to the pringles can guy. Means you've been opened up 🥸

I was beginning to wonder if a video was going to be made for this cover due to it having Marvel characters in it and how Disney is really touchy about, well, everything, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this in my notifications. I’m impressed that y’all went out and turned a 15 second loop into a full, near 5 minute long song that isn’t repetitive or anything. Props to Charlie for listening to the loop for 35 mins straight. Great cover and animation.
Also: Went to y’all’s concert in Newport, VA with my family, y’all rocked house. 10/10 performance. Even bought a couple of shirts (which I’m wearing as of writing this message) for me and my sister (who’s also a big fan of y’all’s work) cause A the album 3 shirts look dope and B because y’all deserve the extra support for being such a great band. I have been a fan of MvC2 for over 20 years. I have the game on dreamcast and I bought the arcade1up version for $700 last year. I had to pause this video at 1:02 because I kinda started crying a lil bit because this is really fun and cool. Once the chorus came on, I actually said out lout, "what the f..." because it really goes well. Plus the overall lyrics..Capcom has some properties that they add lyrics and music to and they are timeless- like the Street Fighter 3 Menu and Character select theme. I think this is up there with them. The video editing is incredible. Thanks for this. I am now subbed and I follow on insta. Keep rocking!
