    You can always tell the show-watchers and book-readers apart based solely on how they reviewed the last three episodes. I'm VERY happy with 6, 7, and 8. The entire season was fantastic - a bit rushed maybe - but we all know the budgetary constraints in the streaming era. Also, show producers develop good working relationships with actors and often use them in other shows. I didn't even notice that Mike Evans was played by the High Sparrow until it was pointed out to me.
    I think a lot of people were thinking this was an action-packed alien invasion story like every other alien invasion story out there. This story takes a completely different angle on the entire genre.

      I’m honestly happy it wasn’t an action packed alien invasion story since the mystery is what was so dope about it to begin with.
      I guess that’s why the book readers favour the last 3 more; they know what is to come and how it’s being set up.
      Me and the show watchers on the other hand felt the mystery aspect ended after 5 and since we don’t know what’s being built up the quality overall feels much worse.
      And ye mike Evan’s was one of the best characters; tho, him and the highsparrow are such similar roles I thought about that for a lil longer than needed. It urked me enough to mention

    There is a great version of the three body problem in the novel, We Appy Few, which is set during the battle of Agincourt, and is explained using an hourglass in a bucket of water that someone spins while standing next to the shore.

    Definitely read the books, I'd say. Best books I've read in years, though I love a good science fiction.

    Book reader here, imo episode 6-8 were better than 1-5, as they took it times to set things up and also very much follow the plot of the books, 1-5 however felt like they rushed through it, many plot and concept left out, mysteries revealed too soon, and dumbing down the science, it seems to me that the showrunners aren't fans of the 1st book.

      The consensus I’m gettin is u book readers like the last eps more than us normies.
      Completely agree with the dumbing down and rushing through the mystery elements. I guess that’s why I like the early eps more- the mystery of it all.

      Yes, it was kind of rushed, but as a fellow book reader, you know that the events from TBP is like 1% of the story, and we probably only have 4 seasons (if it's renewed).

    Will is more important later on, but I agree his presence in the first season is not as interesting. But they had to set up the character somehow. And for sure later seasons will be fire:D The story in the books really starts to go crazy in the second book.
    About the one girl being invisible, it's not that she is invisible, but that the sophons are able to wipe her off camera footage by corrupting the data (to protect their followers). But I agree it is not explained at all and you just have to assume.
    Also, the books basically tell the story of what would happen to humanity if they knew in 400 years they will be invaded. At least thats what most of the story is about.

    Three Body Problem trilogy might be the greatest Sci-fi novel, written in my lifetime... The science and philosophical concepts in the show were a bit watered down compared to the books.
    The adaptation was overall good though, it didn't deep dive into the scientific & philosophical questions that makes life very existential... Season 2's main plotline would be based on book 2, which is even more insane and mind bending... It's only after you learn the true nature of the universe, it makes you truly appreciate the novels even more... Hope they do a good job in explaining the concepts in the show in detail, instead of dumbing it down...

    Tatiana got her powers from Sophons. Sophons took the effort to erased her from footage, as well as other people's eyes.

      @adamrak7560 Před měsícem

      but it also takes lots of effort for them to do. Most likely the erasure fully occupies a sophon for the time. So they cannot have many "invisible" operatives. The most efficient if they only have one, but I haven't read the books. Still stuff in the show was really simple and obvious for me, felt a little dumbed down.

    If you've read the books, you would feel episodes 6-8 are great, even better than the first 5, in how things are set up for what mind-blowing stuff is to come.

      The actor who played Sir Davos from GoT plays Wade. And the actor who played the first rounds of the game with Jin Cheng in the show also featured prominently in GoT.
      There's two off the top of my head and I'm sure there's more

    Auggie is definitely the worst. The actress is just way too pretty to make a convincing nano-partical business savant. I'm not saying you can't be pretty and smart, but it ruins immersion completely for me. The odds of being supermodel hot and generational scientist smart are pretty slim.

    • @FlamingoFuzz
      @FlamingoFuzz  Před měsícem

      Ye I agree 100% idk how it is in the book but most of em look fresh outta college and they all supposed to be some of the smartest people on the planet; which just adds to the lack of immersion
