That's because it's not mind numbing, it's very telling. The detective is listening for what he's not saying, establishing a baseline, gathering intelligence on his background, grafting his mannerisms and behavior through a quick Myers Briggs, and letting the culprit explain their story while asking paced questions involving time & place.
This allows many things, but ultimately it's about exposing holes in their alibi.

The kind of world we live in now unfortunately. Our justice systems are broken these days and from all categories. Criminal, family, federal and all others. All of em have so many people who have no business being in their position. Judges, defense and prosecuting lawyers, dcs workers. It’s scary to think of crooked people being in such high positions and having our kids and our freedom in their hands to do as they please!!! It’s scary. And it happens every day. So many innocent people in prison, kids being taken from good homes, kids dying in foster care and much much more. It’s a sad and dark world we are in today!!! And the worst part is if you truly didn’t do anything wrong but they slam the book at you or flip your life upside down or take your kids, it’s damn near impossible to get out of it and don’t ever bank on the system admitting they were wrong and fix it. Instead your purposely pushed into the darkness to be forgotten about.

Agree. Some are questioning the long segue into the crime at hand. This cop knew exactly what he was doing. He established trust, gathered background info & potential motives & then cut to the chase. Such interrogations are crucial if we’re to better understand disparate/psychopathic types of individuals. It’s not just that he committed the crimes but how he got there. It’s fascinating stuff!

Me, my brother and 3 sisters really got away unscathed, and my parents were loving, and never cut corners or did anything illegal, or never beat us. This is a perfect example between big city (Phoenix) and small city Detectives. This Detective is clearly well educated and very experienced. You see these interrogations with small city Detectives that constantly stop, leave the office multiple times, fumble words and even get called out for their fabricated "knowledge". Not there fault, they just don't have the experience, education and support needed.

Seriously, I wonder how his daughter feels knowing now that her dad is a sexual predator and murderer. "Miller entered a plea of “not guilty” to the charges against him, citing reasons of insanity. The prosecutors argued that his actions stemmed from his desire. They quoted his consumption of violent porn, “the BDSM sex he engaged in with his ex-wife,” and the document he wrote as a teenager detailing his desire to rape, mutilate and kidnap a girl as an indication of his true character. They alleged that Miller attacked both women alone in the dark while they were riding their bikes along the Arizona Canal, stabbed them in the back, and sexually assaulted them as they were dying or after they were dead."
