      A very European style of ambulance design - basic high roof van with minimal conversion as oppose to a custom box on a chassis

    • @CVEmergencyVids
      @CVEmergencyVids Před 4 lety +1

      Fire Wizard Yes. Demers usually makes custom box ambulances with their signature lighting hood over the cab. It is also used on their van conversions. Makes for a European vibe indeed! Seeing more Demers and Crestline Coach, another Canadian partner of Braun, in the USA now that Braun is able to sell Demers and Creatline built units south of the Canadian border.

      Huh the ambulance agency in my city has these! (Altoona, PA if you're curious, known as AMED) Pretty much the exact same setup too, so far my favorite on the Mercedes Sprinter van, it just fits the styling so much better, thanks for putting in the info, it's weird seeing it somewhere else, and only one other place

    Watching all these clips makes me think if someone wanted to hit a UN convoy, the easiest way with the least resources would be on the streets - even the reserved lanes don't always stop the vehicles getting snarled up in traffic more than long enough for a human IED or armed strike team to be effective.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 Před 3 lety +2

      Not worth it. High value targets are protected far better and low value targets would still be difficult, for no payoff. It’s why it hasn’t happened.

    • @Stargazzer811
      @Stargazzer811 Před 2 lety

      UN diplomats have highly trained security specialists, both from their native countries and also a security detail from the NYPD. Those individuals are armed with concealed semi-auto sidearms and some of them carry fully automatic PDW/Short Barrel Rifle style weapons. The vehicles are bullet proofed as well. The only reliable way to hit a UN convoy on the street is a bomb under a manhole cover along the route, which is also nearly impossible as the sewers along the route are monitored by cameras and sometimes by physical patrols if warrented.

      None of these are from precincts, so it’s not an issue. It’s a surge event with lots of specialized units. About half the vehicles seen here were Secret Service anyway, as they provide most of the security for foreign dignitaries.

    • @Nachspeil
      @Nachspeil Před 3 lety +1

      @@afcgeo882 The secret service generally doesn’t protect foreign dignitaries unless they are in contact with the potus. Close protection of foreign dignitaries is undertaken by the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) of the State Department

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Nachspeil That’s false. I worked for a foreign head of state visit’s team and there were two USSS agents assigned to the visit from the plane to the plane. They drove him (the president) around in their Suburban the entire time. His own security was in cars from their consulate. This was an unofficial visit too. I drove a cargo van with their baggage, purchased goods and one of their security guys. Had to follow them around every place they went for three days straight. This was in NYC.
      I chatted with the agents extensively and saw their credentials. They were based in Brooklyn. I even know the address.
      Yes, the DSS does protection for dignitaries, but so does the Secret Service.

    Can we Standardize this issue? In California, it is fairly clear. A very bright steady burning red light requires you to pull over to the right and stop. If I even have an entire "Christmas Tree" of lights behind me without that steady burning red light, I will not stop....And be within my Legal Rights.

    • @afcgeo882
