Honestly, I picked up one of these from Duane Reade (in NYC bought by Walgreen's years ago) in 2019 for about $20 knowing what it was mainly to shell it for parts and to see if I could eventually succeed in reprogramming the chip with my own custom games or something. Back when I still had ambition and wasn't suffering from extreme depression.
I had another very similar version of this when I was younger after the cartridge slot on my Nintendo DS broke. It was actually pretty great and the batteries lasted freaking forever, which was a big plus for road trips. The games were just enough to keep me entertained on a 3-4 hour road trip so I guarantee you that my parents thought that it was worth every penny of the $20 they spent on it while we were on the trip where my Nintendo DS broke.
It wasn't enough that Waddle stole a Kirby sprite: that enemy with the long nose was ripped from the Commander Keen games, too. Biggest injustice to Commander Keen since Bethesda tried to make that mobile game.
Regarding the tennis out, it actually was an out. The sides are considered out in singles but are not out in doubles. Great video though, and I'm glad they included a new installment of punchout on that console.
This harkens back to where I was so tempted to buy one of those Sega Genesis plug and play consoles (I thought it was an actual Genesis) at the Family Dollar near my college.
I remember having one of those things, the only game that i was familiar with was Sonic & Knuckles, meanwhile the other games were some weird stuff i don't remember.
What's bad is that my grandpa actually bought the same handheld console on the thumbnail before his death a year ago. I kinda feel bad for him now knowing it wasn't a legitimate retro console that he thought it was.
I grabbed one of these at a garage sale for a dollar. Gotta say it looks pretty cool with the lit up buttons. Can't really give it any other compliments. The fighting game was the only one I "dug" into. After a while I was able to pull off all of the moves, but the supers (special meter moves) in particular do insane damage, so spamming them to just steamroll, chip, and stun loop the CPU was kind of a fun challenge. Also, final boss is just a mirror match after you've defeated the other 4 characters and there's no ending, just returns to start. The molasses speed is torturous, so still can't recommend it. City Battle is probably the best game on it, but even it seems to drag on forever.

Note from the guy who manages the spreadsheet: My Arcade does not own Data East. With the major exceptions of Windjammers, Glory of Heracles, Karnov, and... a 4th one I can't recall, all of Data East was bought by G-Mode, a division of Marvelous (the Story of Seasons and No More Heroes guys). G-Mode, however, has no idea what to do with most of them, so they let Marvelous USA license them all to My Arcade for cheap, as they got them all for comparatively nothing anyway.

To add to the list of things this console rips off, the Baseball game is a pretty transparent ripoff of Backyard Baseball, a PC game that came out in the late 90s and spawned a pretty successful franchise of kids' sports games.
I might like this if I was 5 again in the 1980s but it's 2023 and you can play much better for free on your phones these days considering how powerful average smartphone is!

I have this as well as an 8-bit version that I also got from walgreens AND a "Data East" official licensed version OF the 8-bit version that is identical to the normal one but has 5 extra games that are actual Data East titles (Shout out to 8-bit Crude Dudes/Busters for not totally sucking!) but all of these get hardly any use since I also found a GENESIS PORTABLE at Walgreens with an SD port to add roms, but that actually came with a slew of great Genesis games in-built: Splatter House 2, Mortal Kombat 2 and 3, Decap Attack and many more. It's literally the best thing ever.
I bought this at CVS a while ago. It sat on the back of our toilet until we moved and we threw it away lol. The interesting thing is that the box I bought had Pokémon DP sprites on them, but I spotted this again at the store recently, and they’ve been removed.
The best thing about this is that through this video I have stepped into some kind of rabbit hole. For the 2, maybe 3 people reading this, I will now introduce you to this rabbit hole. WARNING: There is a lot text. This Gameboy knockoff is not the only console like it. There is another console called the MiWi, a knockoff Wii plug and play system, that runs the same games that this one runs with the same menu and the same Waddle Doo sprite in one of the games. It is played with a knockoff Wii Remote and it uses motion controls for the sports games. The controls on that version of the console are some of the worst controls ever. How do I know all of this? Well, Vinny Vinesauce once played on a MiWi on stream. There is also another console named the Arcade Neo, made by a company named Millennium. The thing looks like a bootleg Gameboy Advance and instead of having pushable buttons you have LEDs on a display that work via touch controls. Surprisingly, the controls on that thing are pretty responsive. Now what do you think what games it runs? The exact same games that the other 2 consoles run, but this time the menu looks a bit different. However, it still has the same music and it also uses the Waddle Doo sprite in one of it's games. How do I know all that? Well, I own one of those. I also own another console from Millennium named the Arcade Genius. It looks like a fake Wii U gamepad and it runs almost all of the games that the other 3 run. There are also some other "original" games on that thing that the other once don't run and it has it's own unique menu with no music at all. The controls on that thing are terrible. This all leads me to believe that the games and software on these consoles are just stock assets that are somewhere out there and that everyone can just use for their console. There are probably a lot more consoles like this, so if the guy still reading this is interested, I guess there is a lot more to find out about this. You can see if you find more and maybe tell me what you found later, if you want. Or you can just forget you ever read this, idk. I just wanted to share something because I find this very odd. I will admit I also have a bit of nostalgia with the Millennium consoles because I played with those a lot as a kid, even though I owned a DS. I was a troubled child.

If you get a Go Retro, it's a similar Gameboy knockoff, but it's actually quite fun! Even though that's mainly because it has two Mega Man games.

I have this as well as an 8-bit version that I also got from walgreens AND a "Data East" official licensed version OF the 8-bit version that is identical to the normal one but has 5 extra games that are actual Data East titles (Shout out to 8-bit Crude Dudes/Busters for not totally sucking!) but all of these get hardly any use since I also found a GENESIS PORTABLE at Walgreens with an SD port to add roms, but that actually came with a slew of great Genesis games in-built: Splatter House 2, Mortal Kombat 2 and 3, Decap Attack and many more. It's literally the best thing ever.

I bought this at CVS a while ago. It sat on the back of our toilet until we moved and we threw it away lol. The interesting thing is that the box I bought had Pokémon DP sprites on them, but I spotted this again at the store recently, and they’ve been removed.

The best thing about this is that through this video I have stepped into some kind of rabbit hole. For the 2, maybe 3 people reading this, I will now introduce you to this rabbit hole. WARNING: There is a lot text. This Gameboy knockoff is not the only console like it. There is another console called the MiWi, a knockoff Wii plug and play system, that runs the same games that this one runs with the same menu and the same Waddle Doo sprite in one of the games. It is played with a knockoff Wii Remote and it uses motion controls for the sports games. The controls on that version of the console are some of the worst controls ever. How do I know all of this? Well, Vinny Vinesauce once played on a MiWi on stream. There is also another console named the Arcade Neo, made by a company named Millennium. The thing looks like a bootleg Gameboy Advance and instead of having pushable buttons you have LEDs on a display that work via touch controls. Surprisingly, the controls on that thing are pretty responsive. Now what do you think what games it runs? The exact same games that the other 2 consoles run, but this time the menu looks a bit different. However, it still has the same music and it also uses the Waddle Doo sprite in one of it's games. How do I know all that? Well, I own one of those. I also own another console from Millennium named the Arcade Genius. It looks like a fake Wii U gamepad and it runs almost all of the games that the other 3 run. There are also some other "original" games on that thing that the other once don't run and it has it's own unique menu with no music at all. The controls on that thing are terrible. This all leads me to believe that the games and software on these consoles are just stock assets that are somewhere out there and that everyone can just use for their console. There are probably a lot more consoles like this, so if the guy still reading this is interested, I guess there is a lot more to find out about this. You can see if you find more and maybe tell me what you found later, if you want. Or you can just forget you ever read this, idk. I just wanted to share something because I find this very odd. I will admit I also have a bit of nostalgia with the Millennium consoles because I played with those a lot as a kid, even though I owned a DS. I was a troubled child.
