PERFECT! That picture of the screws all labelled was really helpful. I wish every tutorial did something like that! Thanks!
Brian thanks for the detailed instructional video with the installation of the XS rail, I just installed the same rail on my 1895GBL using your video and the procedure was effortless. The only surprise I had was whenever I installed the mounting pillar into the dovetail it actually went in with just my fingers, fitting snug but without the use of any tools whereas removing the factory rear Buckhorn sight from the barrel dovetail was the usual tight fit requiring a brass punch and a small hammer to drive it out. I've got you subscribed and am looking forward to your upcoming videos!
You're welcome & thanks for watching! I'm glad the video helped! Yeah, their are some definite variances in tolerances from rifle to rifle.
Thanks for the video. Just finished putting on my rail and your video was great preparation for it. Popped a Vortex Venom on top. Already watched your handguard install in case I want to put one on. Thanks again.
You're welcome & thanks for watching!!
One of the best "installation" videos I've ever seen on YT. Good job man.
Thanks so much!! Really appreciate that!
Really he didnt even know which way to drift sight out. They go one way for a reason.
Oh
@@mirta19422 I was thinking the same thing. On a Marlin that dovetail drifts out to the left.
,mm m
It’s been said, but this is one of the best installation videos I’ve seen. Subscribed.
Thanks so much!!!
Thank you for this. Just received my rail and the instructions from XS are lacking to say the least. This is perfect.
You're welcome! So glad this was helpful to you. Thanks for watching!
I watch all your install videos. Had a gunsmith install my RPP hand guard on marlin 336Y and the flange wasn’t even seated in back of receiver. Watched your video and you said barrel band screw goes on the right side. The gunsmith had it turned around on left. Don’t know if that kept it from fitting right but I reworked it and the hand guard just fell into place without any persuading. Keep up the awesome videos.
You’ve earned yourself a new subscriber. Really good looking rifle man.
Thanks so much!!
You are very methodical and knowledgable. Appreciate your instruction
Thank you! I really try 👍
Great video, well talked through. Thanks for putting it up.
You're welcome & Thanks so much! Glad you found it informative.
I like the idea of a scope on my Marlin 1895 Cb 45-70, but I don’t like how it makes it more delicate!! I love the iron sights because of that reason. And they are very accurate.
Super cool set up !
Thanks!!
Nicely done. I appreciate your instruction. Thanks!
Thank you and you're welcome!
Very good installation video, very informative!
Thanks so much!!
Awesome video brother 👊💪👍💯 love my 45-70 and watch you to see what I can do to make mine better.
Thanks so much!! Hope you find these videos helpful!
Quick tip: I find that if I stick a magnet to the side of whatever driver I'm using, it makes handling small screws WAY easier.
Nice, thanks!
Great video. Beautiful rifle. Subscribed.
Thanks so much!!!
Great video! Suggest cleaning screws and threaded holes with alcohol before loctite.
Thanks & thanks for the tip!!
That's the build i wanna make. The difference is that i'll do it in 30/30.
The only issue is that's gonna be a bit tricky, (not impossible) to get all these parts in France.
But as long term project it will take the time it needs. I'll build it whatever it takes.
Best regards!
🖖🏻🇫🇷😎🇫🇷🙄🇫🇷🖖🏻
That'll be nice! Good luck. I hate that parts are so hard for you all to get over there.
Thanks for watching!!
Great presentation.
Thanks so much!
Old with new looks great.
I'd love to see that Marlin scoped, suppressed and with flashlight attached! Great customization so far! :-)
Thanks!! The suppressor is the one thing that may have to wait a while, haha. Newborn baby and building a homestead...the wife says no right now LOL. Thanks for watching!!
@@buildhuntxplore Congratulations! My wife and I also had a baby last year, so any firearms plans had to wait. I own a stainless black powder replica of Remington 5.5" revolver in .44 from Uberti, but a nice S&W Model 66 and a stainless Marlin would make a great .357 combo. But that's in the future far ahead :-) BTW, I forgot to mention some nice black sling for your Marlin as well :-)
I put a Dead Air Ghost-M on my CST mounted to a 3 lug from Hansohn Brothers, works really well with .38s. .357s are still a bit loud though, maybe right at the threshold of ear safe or slightly over it.
Nice! I’ve used a buddy’s and ran .38s...man was it quiet!
Also screw driver bits specifically designed for firearms have squared rather than rounded (commercial) edges. Many don’t know how they’re different and why drivers or bits that otherwise are the right size mess up screws on firearms.
Hi Brian, had been looking into a Marlin 45-70 and your other videos started coming up, have been watching your Forrest to Farm channel for a while, really cool that you have another channel going.
I've been looking at the 1895 Dark which is parkerized vs chrome with an 18.5 inch barrel and 4 rd capacity, if you were buying again, would you stick with your current build?
Thanks for the content! - David
Howdy!! I would stick with the current version because the stainless will hold up better in our humidity than the parkerized finish. On my 1895 SBL, I have considered getting it Cerakoted to a darker color, but because it gets used so much, stainless is the better option over parkerized for me. The only thing I would change would be to put a Ranger Point aluminum handguard on this 1894CST. Thanks for checking out this channel too! Lots to come on both channels!
Any chance we could get a part number or a link to the rail? I could be blind, but, I'm looking all over for link, but seem to be missing it. Thanks!
Amazing what they achieved in rimmed cartridges so long ago that to this day modern hand gun rounds really struggle to produce the same result as a 38 special +p or a 357 mag out of a revolver let alone a lever gun.
yeah, it's wild. Definitely a great round!
did you reuse the sights off the gun? Or is it necessary to buy the full kit from XS with their ghost rings? Sorry if you mentioned it and I missed it.
No worries, I had to replace the sights. The elevation change by adding the rail is just enough that the stock sights wouldn't work.
Oh nice, I thought this rail was incompatible with the Midwest Industries handguard. Guess I'm not done adding gizmos to my CST after all :D There any chance the irons will cowitness with a red dot?
Nope, the scout version is the one that won’t work. You’re good to go! Sadly no, the irons are too low to co-witness. Have fun adding more doo-dads lol. Thanks for watching!!
Capn Beeb Whatever. All you need is a quick detach mount for your red-dot. So you can swap from one to the other in matter of secondes...
🖖🏻🇫🇷😎🇫🇷🙄🇫🇷🖖🏻
Got a question. Will the XS Sights Lever Rail fit a Marlin 1894 .45 Colt Cowboy
I'm not sure, I'd check with XS Sights on that.
Would that scope rail work on henry rifles also
Sadly no.
What is that side saddle you have?
It’s the HopticUSA LongBow Quiver. The link is in the “Episode Notes” in the description. Thanks for watching!
Anyone know that what the name of the round carrier on the hand guard pictured in the thumbnail is !?!?
Howdy! It's the HopticUSA Longbow Quiver. Working on a video about them now. Rock solid setup!
@@buildhuntxplore here is the link.
www.hopticusa.com/product-page/lever-gun-longbows-38-357-and-44-mag
Can this sight rail work on a 30-30?
Yes they have a 30-30 model available
Who makes the ammo carrier on the forend?
It’s made by HopticUSA and it’s their LongBow Quiver. Lots of caliber options!
I went to their site, but wouldn't open up, are they still in business?
Hey man! I'm curious about the 1895 SBL XS rail system. I know that it already comes pre installed on the gun. Did you leave it alone? Did you remove it and then add loctite to the hardware and then mount it again yourself?
Howdy! I haven’t had to do it yet. It’s held solid so far, and I’ve shot some seriously powerful loads through it. I figured, it’s not broke, so don’t fix it lol. If it starts to have any issues I will definitely pull it off and add some threadlocker to it. Thanks for watching!
@@buildhuntxplore thank you for the quick reply!
Welcome! I try, but it can be a challenge at times lol.
@@buildhuntxplore that's good feedback to hear on the sturdiness of the Factory mounting of that XS Lever rail! As a Remington/Marlin employee, it's great to hear this feedback. Are your Marlins produced in Ilion New York? -Alex
Howdy! Yep all 3 of my new ones are actually from Ilion, NY. The fit and finish has gotten progressively better on each one.
whats the rail being used?
The handguard is the Midwest Industries, but Ranger Point Precision also makes a nice one now. Check out our other install videos on the 1895 and 336
Quick question, would this work on an R.C.?
It should. The RC stands for "Regular Carbine", whereas later models were just C for "Carbine". They changed the designation over the years. From what I've heard on 336 models, you may have to modify the forward mounting hole a little to get it to line up properly for the stud to go through. Just to be sure, I'd figure out the year of mfg, and call XS Sights before ordering. Also, some of the older RC's weren't all drilled & tapped on the receiver, so that would cause an issue too. Hope I helped some & thanks for watching!
@@buildhuntxplore Thanks, i appreciate the feed back. Ill look further into it. I know Its a JM(Marlin barrel) and ill try and find the year of mfg.
Welcome! Good luck!
Whoever disliked this vid shouldn’t even be putting an ikea bed frame together. Smh
Hahaha love it
@@buildhuntxplore It is a good video, very clear and easy to follow. That being said, some may dislike it as they have a negative view of turning everything into a tactical piece of military gear like a nice lever action rifle. What happened to the days when we got excited about a gun having really nice wood. Why do I need rails going so far up the barrel. What ever happened to simple. How many accessories do I need to attach to a simple rifle. This marketing move to sell more accessories to every gun made does get wearisome. But, it is a very good video for those that need to be totally tacticool.
Your videos are going to cost me money.
LOL I hear that a lot! Thanks for watching!!
Flat head screws, really must be 1894. Torques bits would be ideal in my opinion,
Haha. It would be nice for sure
A firm handshake they say. Maybe you should invest in a torque wrench good sir. My Warren & Brown deflecting beam torque wrenches have saved me multiples of their admittedly expensive purchase price. Working with small parts or soft metals invites stripped threads with vague notions of torque values. Especially on expensive one shot attempts I have made and failed resulting in marred equipment. But these were hard learned lessons that a simple ‘go slow with confidence’ advisory may have avoided. And behold the wisdom of experience versus the exuberance of youth. To be old and wise first you must have been young and stupid.
I actually got one, I just couldn't find it that day, haha. I've since found it and keep it accessible now. I do tend to over torque things by hand, so it's a very valuable tool for sure. Definitely worth the investment! Thanks for watching!
Ruger overall is making Marlin lever guns ok. One thing that would keep me buying one is the fluted bolt. That is just too much for me. Ruger’s attempt at making Marlin their own, which Remington did not do!! They came out with things like the Marlin Dark series, 336’s chambered in 444 Marlin, 35 Rem. But no fluted bolts Noooooooo!!
19 people correctly say Lever but cannot enjoy the video.
Edit: Magnetizing your driver bits is not a bad idea!
Hahaha love it. And yes, not a bad idea at all! Thanks for watching!
