For all of the marine salvage experts in the comments: The owner, Sherrif, and insurance company all told us the boat was a total loss and were only concerned about getting it removed regardless of any damage that might occur during the recovery process.
Lift bags were not a viable or safe option with how hard the river was flowing. Those bags have an enormous amount of surface area and they rip to pieces when you tow them any faster than about 5mph and we were moving along at closer to 15-20mph by the time you factor in the speed of the river flowing plus the 5+ mph that we were moving upstream. Lift bags are NOT as easy to use as everyone thinks they are

Old worn out wear rings allow cavitation inside the pump and really hamper clean flow of water through the pump. My dad ran a jet up and down the Colorado River and he literally changed the wear ring every year. And it always made a remarkable difference in speed and low end torque. Depending on river/lake conditions, its best to measure the clearance quite often if you want peak performance.

I guess the only positive thing about the windows being blown out is that the panels all seem to be flat panels of glass so you can have them cut to shape at most any glass shop. If they were curved glass windows then you would be looking at big bucks to replace them.

That demonstrates the power of water. It is a lot more dense than everybody thinks it is and weighs more than everybody thinks it does. Before they got it up out of the water they were barely going upstream against the flow of the water, which he said was moving between 20 to 25 MPH, and that was enough to pop the windows out of the frames.

      "Holy shit now its junk"
The motor quit running so it would probably have needed to be taken apart and rebuilt anyway. The windows will need to be replaced. It is a boat so everything was made to get wet anyway. The hull and cab are still in good shape and no holes in the hull.
Not junk, just a used boat that needs some work. A little more than expected, but not so much for someone who could afford to buy a used jet-boat in the first place.

They can be found on the civilian market atleast in Europe, don´t know about the US. They can go almost anywhere because they are made for shallow water operations. They stop from full speed in 2,5 boatlenghts by reversing the waterjets, that´s a rush i tell ya.

If your gonna buy all of that for your boat, then must get FLUR as well, heat readings do help in a lot of different situations.

I’ve commented before but I never know if you see them because there’s so many people commenting. If you want to try running a jet boat with your same set up (twin 400 hp turbo diesels with Hamilton marine pumps ) but all electronic controls (joystick docking, power steering and helm modes) you’re welcome to try the Osprey (36’ Hinckley picnic boat) any time. I’m in Camden Maine on the Atlantic Ocean. A beautiful spot. Would definitely make some great content.

Pretty messy recovery guys, take some extra time and do the job right. If you want to demo your boat power, drag a piece of scrap upriver.

Was that the Missouri or the Platte? What folks don’t understand on here is the enormous power of a spring runnoff situation like this, and pulling dead weight against. No way would I want to put myself or my crew under water to attach those float bags. Glad they recovered it and only the windows and not lifes were lost

very impressive how it pulled it up. one thought you need a self contained battery sump pumps that can be pre attached before starting the pull that would help drain the boat while on plane. key they have to sustain underwater barrel roles lol but true. Great job.

The cut to the sunken boat suddenly being on plane, almost suspiciously cut... We really want to see all that water pour out of the rescued boat as it gets on plane.. I mean especially because there is a drone on it that whole time, that footage must exist! And I'm definitely not the only one who wants to see it. Not at all complaining how about the recovery, y'all do good work and good videos

A while back, I witnessed a recovery where an inflatable float harness was used for a sunken vessel. It might have been SeaTow but I don't think the recovery vessel was their normal yellow color. It was a decent sized Princess Flybridge cruiser. They just harnessed her up, turned on a pump and she breached like a whale. Pumped her out and towed her off.

Yeah I do salvage and boat towing for a living and this is exactly how I would have done it. Only difference is I would have just gone off the bow trailer eye and not the cleats. Helps to lift the bow as you pull it to drain the water out.
