Usually og devs dont port? Most of the time they are working on a new game so ports go to a support vontract studios, but lets not blame ea for this. Darth Aspyr was a Dark Lord of the Sith, he became so powerfull that he could use the Force to influence Mods to create Lies.
If they're stealing mods anyways, should've used the remaster mod. Would've been a better product and less buggy.

Didn’t realize I was paying $35 to beta test the game for aspire.
I paid just under $30 (with discounts) but still I feel ripped off...if it was just a lazy remaster/re-release I could be content with that (I'd be a little disappointed but I could live with it) but with this collection being a broken glitchy/buggy mess (both online and single player) it is heartbreaking. 😞

In an alternate universe, this game would have been handled by a company that would not only have shipped a functional product, but diligently worked with the modding community and lovingly crafted an ultimate version of the game that would have let us relive our childhood for years to come. Who keeps letting companies like this handle such precious IP's?

Region locked servers are for the best though. Unless you want in a room full of people across the globe causing your ping to skyrocket and you to be too laggy to do anything, it's for the best.

I still find it funny that I kept saying to people "stop overyhyping yourself, it's going to be another lazy 'remaster' of a game aimed to milk you because of you being nostalgic". I got hated on beyond my imagination, and when the game launched all the voices suddenly stopped. As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

The thing is Aspyr has no good devs remaining, havn't done for ages since 90% of them left along time ago. they simply do not have the ability to make games. All they had to do with this was just re-release it with little to no changes. Yet the changes they made completely rearranged the games code, File structure and even injected unfinished mod coding for no reason at all.. Nothing they done here makes any sense at all

This should've been the easiest copy and paste with retexture and optimization easy. You can't take a completed game just to break it and make it the worst. EA Battlefronts at launch with all the Pay to Win mechanics is far superior to the Classic Collection, and it breaks my heart. Unfortunately, it looks like Star Wars gaming is cursed, especially with Battlefront. PS4/5 weren't as blessed as Steam and Xbox to have the originals. If only.
The Dark Forces remaster is well recieved. I think Aspyr deserves the bulk of the blame here, not Disney. Aspyr has a 20 year record with like a hundred game ports, you can't blame the bigwigs for trusting their extensive resume.

Yeah the multi-player was never an all time banger, there were hit detection issues and jank before, but now its even worse.

The single player is also broken. At least for Battlefront 2 isn't buggy. Battlefront 1 seems fine. Also the flight controls are inverted and can't be changed on console. Also the sensitivity is too slow or fast at times. There's also audio and texture glitches.

Let's not forget that the single-player lacks essentially half the cutscenes, thereby ignoring most of the writing AND you're ONLY getting the cutscenes to play in your language. Thank god, at least the cutscenes! Otherwise, neither the voice lines nor even the announcer are in - for me - German. So you play through the story in sometimes German, sometimes English. Probably the case for all the other languages as well? Yeah, there are worse things, BUT THE OLD GAMES HAD IT COMPLETELY IN THE LANGUAGE YOU CHOSE TO PLAY IN. It's just annoying that they didn't bother for shit - especially since it's an otherwise very IMMERSIVE story and just game overall. Who cares right?

@@Austin2tall97 They did steal/use the old uncredited mod. They failed to get it out of the game before launch. Likely the patch was held up in Sony/Nintendo's security process approval and didn't get approved before launch, so it didn't get approved in time

In the game kit fisto and asajj ventress have there own fighting style and unique abilities, the modded version did not have the force sphere and the throwing stars so stop reaching for bs that’s not true. This is not the Re-Release you're looking for!
Since I don't care about the online multiplayer, it's a good thing I kept, on my Xbox One hard drive, the original 2004 Star Wars Battlefront & 2005 Star Wars Battlefront II (which were slightly graphically enhanced in 2018, came with all the DLCs, has all cutscenes, animations & audio, and both were made backwards compatible for current gen Xboxes in 2018), they're still way better (and they still work better & with hardly any issues anymore because most of them were patched/updated years ago) than the current Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection (single player) does. What a broken mess that one is 🤦.

I don't understand what Aspyr hoped to achieve with this remaster. Especially considering that they also worked on Tomb Raider remaster for the first 3 games. That also came out this year but unlike Battlefront, they actually did a good job.
Probably saddled with too much work and not enough time, and spent most of their effort on Tomb Raider.
I think the craziest part is the list of stuff they have to fix up for this port to be in a decent state seems relatively small. The whole port is not really the tallest order at least it seems that way. It's not like it's GTA remastered trilogy where everything is wrecked, they never really had to go that far in the first place
Remember folks this is the same studio and company that promised the extended content for KOTOR 2 for switch and just straight up lied to sell it and then said actually nope its never coming, it was one of the reasons i refused to pre order and see what it was like. SO glad i didn't fall for the 10% discount they were giving on preorders. Ill just play the OG's

Atleast battlefront ² 2017 is very lively
From my experience (PS5), controls are not ok, aiming and moving is really weird, Mygeeto map has parts of the map that you can walk trough the wall, Yavin 4 has weird texture glitches, sound is not right (you can hear gunfire outside the map again on mygeeto)
Other than that, single player is okish, really bought it for the multiplayer.
It’s honestly been years since EA’s BF2. We’re all in a completely different stage of life tbh. Yah I don’t like that devs didn’t update it, but we’re all human. We make mistakes. Prayers all is well for everyone here & someone starts working on a patch soon. If not, that’s not the end of the world. 😂🙏🏻

Even if Ass-pyre didn’t have all the issues that they have had upon release, the game still would have flopped. They sealed their fate there when they didn’t take the time to include cross-compatibility and they region locked the games.
I think Geonosis on the switch version and perhaps other console versions (not pc for some reason) might use a mod that makes the map colours resemble as was on the original console versions, on xbox and ps2, the map looked different to pc.
I know it's not good to wish bad thing's to others but I really hope this story will end aspyr.

I'm playing on Series X, and I only bought it for single player against bots. The graphics are an upgrade to original games available on Xbox Marketplace.
I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. It has a few issues like no inverted controls(which can be corrected in the accessories app), but hopefully those are corrected in a future update.
Played split screen with my son and it was a blast.
I hope they help the folks who want to play online multiplayer, but the single player experience has been solid.

I was one of the people commenting on articles trying to get the word out about mod being in at launch. Realistically the patch got held up in Sony/Nintendo's security approval process and didn't get pushed through before the game launched in time. That makes me think though that they might never have patched it if they weren't called out for it. Also the mod they stole/used uncredited was the wrong version, an older one that was out of date too which was less accurate and how they were caught in the first place. The modder made a better accurate version but they didn't use that
I owned both games on my PS2 and when I saw the og's got rekeased on Steam, i bought them as soon as they were in the store. I accrued 500+ hours in just SWBF 2004 alone. The mods you can get for both ganes are insanely deep and add infinite replay value

It a appears they just sent out and update. At least they fixed the BF1 loading screen sound, and the music in hero assault, and inverted controls for flying.

The more I hear about this release, the more disappointed I've become. I was so insanely excited for this game when it was announced. When I was a kid my friend had the first game and we played it all the time. Then I got the sequel and put an insane amount of hours into it (even without online play since my PS2 was never hooked up to the internet). I've bought Battlefront 2 multiple times and played it across PS2, OG Xbox, PC digital and physical, and even backwards compatibility on Xbox One. I was so excited to get some friends together and play some Battlefront 1 & 2 online and honestly now I don't know if I'll ever be able to convince my friends to play this. This past weekend I downloaded EA Battlefront 2 to play. I barely touched EA Battlefront 2 in the past because I only got it fs a monthly game from PS+ and I just didn't have much interest. However, firing that up and playing a match on Felucia as the CIS was actually pretty fun. It was challenging since most players on there have been playing it for years, but it was still fun and we were able to make a huge comeback after having the Republic board our ship twice.

I don't know how other players manage to play Multiplayer as if it's been patched. Someone managed to go 81-0 in Conquest while my shots kept missing as i ping ponged around.
I'm still shocked how this can happen right after the excellent Tomb Raider remasters also from Aspyr.

Night dive upscaled textures by hand, and it looks fantastic and takes gardly any space. Battlefront collection used half assed ai to upscale things and it takes up a ton of space. Yeah, Night Dive should take over

The only reason I bought the collection was so I could finally play the multiplayer but I couldn't do that in Battlefront 2. I could in the first gane, but it was so laggy that it was unplayable. And the people wjo say the single player was fine must've been on Death Sticks because tbat was also broken.
I immediately uninstalled the game and played the original versions. The original versions of the games ran smoothly compared to the Classic Collection.
So basically I ended up wasting my money.

I’ve heard someone files a class action against Aspyr for the KOTOR II DLC, maybe someone with enough money and determination can do the same thing for this collection as well.
There is a common misconception that the IP holder of a game or franchise can just use modded content or assets without legal repercussions, this is actually false, at least in most countries.
Most countries have laws protecting the work of independent artists and developers, granting them de facto ownership/copyright and protecting their work from being sold or redistributed without their consent.
In the case of a mod specifically, the most a game ip holder can do legally is issue a cease and desist if they feel their IP is being used or modified without their consent, but they cannot in turn take and use or distribute the modders work as that would be a unlawful copyright violation.
EA in 2015 and 2017: Were the worst company and were going to make the worst version of Battlefront. Nobody can possibly do worse than us.

Also laws need updating. It shouldn’t matter if the stolen work represents the Star Wars IP, the labor put into the mod itself has nothing to do with Star Wars. Just my opinion.
Switch is known for some games that are ported with minimal effort, like payday 2 doesn't have any dlc or updates, it's year 1 version. And aspyre is the name that I saw a few times so I knew what was coming (and hell no i'm not trusting anything said in the trailers of any game) and to be honest the only things that dissapointed me were nickname censorship (why the hell I can't keep my old nickname "Knight"?!) and multiplayer overall. I also couldn't start old bf1 on my pc so it was a plus. Also never thought of campaign as a big thing in this game. I've got a hero assault on more maps, upscaled textures and resolution and a split screen on pc without a need to break my game again at the cost of a chunk of my hard drive and a few new bugs. I understand why people mad yet I'm in that niche where I just get a bare minimum of what they f*cked up.
Got into a stable online match last night played the same lobby a few hours it was lit so the online is working just not every one I've had better luck on non dedicated servers
Console has like a dozen dedicated servers and I haven’t had many issues in multiplayer since the launch night.
Ngl I kinda like the cantina music but I wouldn’t want it playing all the time, they should make it an option to turn it on or off now lol
