Corporations sometimes need to fail, in particular the higher ups in the company. I've witnessed massive Exodus's at companies before where there were mistakes and bad decisions being made by higher ups who did not actually understand the manufacturing process (in this case equally to programming). The game isn't dead though. On the Nintendo switch I went in a couple of times witnessing full servers late at night yesterday. This company will recover and is definitely on the right track. There was never a need for anger though, however this response likely did actually help Aspyr make good decisions. This should succeed on the Nintendo switch. Especially given that there is no EA Battlefront on the switch even though that probably should have gotten a port.
No, it doesn't. Sick of these companies getting away with releasing rubbish, and hoping to get praise when they "fix" it. This was a lay up, and they somehow popped the basketball. They could of done so well with this, and its still not even of decent quality.
1 last thing, the OG game modded puts this to shame. They were paid to develop this. 🤦
If they really want to redeem the collection? They practically must redo the whole thing.
They ought to do something more along the lines of the Battlefront 2 Remastered modification, new models and textures, (no upscales but redraws) then also using the original Xbox version as the basis in terms of options and how aiming will respond instead add mouse and keyboard support on top of that all and XL. Compartmentalise the Multiplayer for all the titles all into one browser with crossplay and significantly more dedicated servers.
Including with this both PSP exclusive Battlefront titles as well as the original titles. If they want an MCC style comeback this will be the road.

So much love and passion could've been put into this game if there was an ounce of effort. This is one of my favorite games of all time so this just saddens me. not just the bad press but what could've been...

It's not impossible, there would be players hopping in and out but ppl would be dedicated. Also you have 1 commander on each team

As a Battlefront II (2017) player, the best thing about this whole debacle is that it's brought a surge of players to that game, which has been dying a very long death. For the first time in years, there are certain game modes active in certain parts of the world, which is amazing!

I don't care, I'm sick of devs scapegoating themselves because of the higher ups. Maybe it was entirely the decisions of higher ups, but the DEVS are ALSO at fault for CHOOSING to work on a game they KNEW wouldn't be able to be released on the date asked of them in a playable state.
If devs are going to work on games they know they can't make good, then it IS their fault and should follow them around for the rest of their careers.
That way maybe we'll see people STOP working for these pathetic companies that don't know how to release a 20 year old game in a working state.

CD Projekt Red don't get a pass. It still isn't as good as it was advertised, and they're finished working on it. It's just a pretty open world game, the story is stale and the game play is nothing new.

They were literally caught using assets from mods. I wouldn’t trust the devs to tie their own shoes without strangling themselves.

They should've delayed it to May or later this year to fix these issues and make sure the online servers work properly.
Judging by the speed of the updates even a couple weeks would have sufficed.

@@Theframeinator They chose to work on the game, so it's their fault too. Devs need to be held accountable just as much as the higher ups who make the BS decisions because otherwise we'll keep getting the same trash.
If Devs are CHOOSING to work for these companies, they are just as responsible for knowing they couldn't pick when it needs to be done by and they obviously didn't know they would be able to do it in the alotted time, so that is their fault.

I really think they underestimated just how many people were anticipating this release.
Maybe in few years they will make some Star Wars KOTOR mods for this game. I would like to see Mandalorian Wars maps, units, and new heroes like Revan and Mandalore the Ultimate.

Release game under early access for $5 off base price, encourage the community to share and complain about bugs, with the community full aware unrelease the game for 1 week and patch, release the game to the hype and fan fare that unreleasing the game had caused, and it would of been much smoother

What upsets me is the fact that I feel kind of bad for the developers. Because visually the game actually looks really good. There are some glitches, but they did a pretty good job in revamping a game from 2005. I wholeheartedly believe that the developers and engineers did not have enough time to push the game out in a more ready state. It came down to profits for the people in charge and the suits and the shareholders. But I know that all of the responsibility of the stability of the game is not on the developers.

They promised multiplayer, the only reason I bought the game was so I could play the online I couldn’t as a child. And it wasn’t there, AT LAUNCH! So no, I refuse to tolerate it. I will take my money elsewhere.

They fixed the galactic conquest UI causing soft locks during the bonus select screen. Which I personally sent in a ticket for. They’ve patched a lot of the issues in the game but I’m afraid it’s too little; too late. I can’t find a full match to try the network improvements. The state of launch turned away so many people immediately and they’re not gonna come back.
I was super excited for this being announced, only found out about it less than a month ago. Was the first game in a long time I was going to buy, I literally have 50$ worth of microsoft point rewards in my account and after HOURS of searching, there's no game I even want. That is how bad gaming is now, even with the money to buy a full priced game, even if I had 70, there's NOTHING I want.
This Star Wars Battlefront was going to be my go to game for awhile I thought. And now? I don't care if they fixed everything about it, too little too late is right. I will NEVER buy this abomination of a product.

They lied about using a modders work which is legal. If you won’t be honest about doing something you are allowed to do and then won’t even do a “let’s give thanks to so and so for their hard work we are using” then what makes me think you’ll fix the game entirely or have any other game be complete. And compress your damn files!
I’m reaching out in desperation for an answer. Couldn’t find anyone else talking about it, and I’m wondering if I’m being punked but in BF2 whenever I hit anything with my lightsaber, these weird comic book pop ups effect literally POP UP. IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!

Yes, this is the cheat code LJ mentioned. You must have activated it accidently or it's glitched and it permanently stuck.

Smart. ALWAYS wait for reviews. Think friend, they released a 20 YEAR OLD GAME, broken and less finished than it was 20 years ago. That means NOTHING Is safe, ever. Always wait for TRUSTED reviews.
Exactly, I saw Battlefront and was like "fuck yeah! where's my wallet?" but then I remembered how AAA games are these days. Even if they didn't fuck up the launch (which they did) it still might not have worked very well to the point of being worth $35.
No matter what, this game was destined to fail. Aspyr made sure of that when they didn’t include cross-compatibility and they region locked the servers. If Aspyr wants to save this game, they’ll have to fix those issues.
In addition to that, they could add the PSP exclusive Battlefront titles to the game at some point and maybe even update that atrocious main menu.
We’ll see what they do. The game still has potential. I’d be willing to repurchase the game if they make some major fixes. I’d even be willing to buy new DLC for BF2 if they made it (and the game worked).
I definitely wish were battlefront elite squadron and renegade squadron into collection doesn't feel right why not in it
Aspyr having to delay a 20 year old game re-release with barely any new features would've been equally disgraceful and pathetic, the Steam player count is already below 1000 at peak times and im sure it's just slightly higher on consoles so this game was pretty much dead on arrival, people need to stop shelling out money for these obvious cashgrabs.

People are saying Aspyr is just lazy maybe not lazy but not given enough time to finish it, because the higher ups said to release it way to early. Plus the tomb raider collection was pretty good so just cause they didn’t do well doesn’t mean they are always terrible.
I’m enjoying it immensely when it works properly, it’s just the atrocious hit detection and random lag that’ll frustrate me at times, but I feel like those issues can easily be fixed. I just hope they don’t stop with improvements now and they continue listening to the community’s feedback💯

This is the beta launch. Didn't you know? Nowadays you have to pay for the full release of a game and that's beta launch. The first patch is the real way the game should've probably released, or in cases as bad as this, might be a few patches to get to how it should've released.

um no, hiding an existing option in setting is not lazy. it's a dick move that you actively have to work to do. they removed something or made it "hidden" then after release they said: "we know people hate this, we'll fix it after release." personally, i despise inverted controls, especially in games where it's finicky with some thing are inverted and others aren't.
yes, the story in the campaigns of these games were awesome. why the hell would you cut out like half of the cut scenes?

Hey Luke! I think you should make a video detailing the nature of Nihilus' force drain. There's a huge misconception in the general Star Wars community that his drain worked the same as all other force drains we see other characters using, and that it could be resisted the same way. It incredibly undermines the terrifying threat he represented, and also cheapens his and The Exile's nature as force wounds. There's various Kreia quotes and lore bits that simply prove it is an entirely different technique, which makes me baffled at how it's even possible that such misconceptions exist. Would you like to discuss it? I hope to hear from you!
If anyone on PC can confirm: does the game still crash when you try to start the Rhen Var mission in the BF1 campaign? Maybe it was just on my end, but I wasn't sure if anyone else was getting it.
At this point I've accepted that being a star wars fan means getting shit on and then getting a bad saving-grace deal afterwards.

Did everyone forget that we ran into a sort of similar problem with EA's battlefront 2? We just gave it time and it eventually became one of our favorite games I have faith that this will eventually be what we wanted it to be

Literally feels like they took notes from WB studios with what they did with MK1, released a half assed unfinished game with a crap ton of bugs and imbalance.
Buddy of mine used to coop galactic conquest in battlefront 2 all the time for years. When they announced this we were both excited to relieve those times. Imagine our disappointment when we realized there was no online component to galactic conquest. Bit hard to split screen when you live in different states now.
PS5 and PS4 players can at least use share play to do that 😅
That's absolutely fantastic. The remake of these 10 GB games together is 75 GB and now adding another 15 GB on to that. I'm loving this so far it's taking up so much space for these PS2 games

@@russianoverkill3715 No, but Pandemic has gone under and there's not a group of people who can raise potential rights issues with Battlefront 1 and 2. Rebellion however is around still, could raise potential issues, and also made both Elite and Renegade on their own engine and the people who MADE both of them are still at Rebellion. Rebellion doing a remake or remaster collection of Renegade and Elite would be far better than if someone else did it because they still have the original dev team around to work on them.

Only thing that could maybe save the game is if the servers aren't garbage AND they add online galactic conquest. There is no reason to buy this over the originals unless these two things happen.

As a kid i didnt get a chance to play this multiplayer on my PS2. I was looking forward to it. Sadly in 2024 it's probably not meant to be.

It's so insane to see how different of a game this is compared to Xbox. Yes their are some bugs, but it isn't this horrible. I do agree cross-platform should've been an option. We could've seen more players. However, it'd playable. If they are updating it, that's amazing news to me because I was hearing they weren't going to do this at all.

I will play the devil's advocate and say that the early access version you played already exposed the issues they were having and they started working at it then, maybe not in the "red alert" mode. From dev's perspective those issues aren't sounding like something that can be easily fixed in a week or so. But yeah I agree with 99% of the things you say here
Well some game have managed to ressurect and the updates were speedy... we shall see.
Its easier to recover from an original new game rather than a remaster/remake. We even have an alternative still available. Their rep is damaged, people already refunded and quit, and that fumble will be the first thing people are reminded of before buying or trying again. Even if they get numbers back up, they'll likely be so low they'll end up on the chopping block.
If they added in cross play and added in DLC which could even be the maps from bf1 into bf2 and vice versa, that would bring a ton of people back. Make that free dlc and a couple new maps for $3-5, BOOM! Revived. It's that simple.
They have a lot of fixing to do first.
And shrink the size considerably. If they can't that's more than just skill issue.
I find it hilarious that the original bf2 on pc has multiplayer that's still alive with up to 64 players I've seen on some servers, it's crazy. Mind you, because the game doesn't have dedicated servers, or just fucked netcode, the original game does have some rubber banding issues, but it's not that bad even on a full server, perhaps GOG will fix the netcode for that version, since starwars battlefront has been in the news lately, or even a update for widescreen and a improved main menu would be nice.
A recent update made the game worse for me, my legendary status effects no longer work. i have to earn war hero every match again to get the effect rather than starting the match with it
I'd rather play Galactic Battlegrounds again than having to deal with Aspyr's screwups.
What they should’ve done was released the single player and then the multiplayer a week after.

I think the only way we can save this game is to Yes of course fix all the bugs but also Fix the Install size. Bring it down from 80 to 25GB or smaller at least. No one wants to spend 80 GB of space on games that originally were 8gb, unless it was a total remaster with remastered graphics and everything, but it's not. Just a refresher pretty much

I can't even find a single pc server with players now, quick search just takes you to empty servers with bots

The fact they havent really communicated about this patch, shows the state of this game. My guess is after the release, they were either threatened with layoffs if not corrected, or some other incentive to do this. Remember, this studio fumbled BIG TIME on a guaranteed success. Pure, incompetence from Asspyr. So happy I refunded this, to pay for Helldivers 2.

It's becoming more standard to release the game unfinished and patch it later.
Imagine that software needs updating to run on updated systems...
Even if they fix every single issue, it doesn t change the scummy and reprehensible business practices that got us here in the first place. They don't deserve anyone's money. I'm just going to play the original, not broken version for a fraction of the price and 20 years worth of free mod support that make it look better than this
