Grignard reagents are useful for chain elongation of carbonyl compounds in organic synthesis and retrosynthesis questions.
This video will give you tips, tricks, and shortcuts for predicting the specific alcohol products of Grignard reactions with aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acid derivatives such as an ester.

I just started the second semester of organic chemistry at a different institution from the first, and there was a large gap in information between my previous semester and my current one. Can an R group denote a hydrogen atom? If I see R1 and R2 etc does this mean two different functional groups or could they be the same? What about R groups attached to rings?

Can i know why OCH3 is a potential leaving group?
O- can exist in a negative solution and so the grignard can kick it out in a base
