I would like to see a little bit more than a slight horsepower bump. I want the new Grom to look like a mini Honda NX500. A Grom with 160 cc liquid cooled version, with six gears with 13 or 14-inch tubeless wheels. Who wants one?
That's a good question... I would wager that they think it wouldn't sell well. Call me crazy but I don't think the Grom was ever the best looking bike and I don't think people gravitated towards it due to styling but more so fell in love with it because of its cheap price tag, cheap replacement parts, ease of customizing and just the fun nature of a small displacement and small bike. For some odd reason, that combo worked although there were a LOT of naysayers at first that said the Grom was DOA back in 2013 when it was announced. Soooo many people said there is no way people would buy a little 125cc bike here in the states but here we are 10 years later lol! I'd love to be a fly on the wall in some of these meetings though and hear their discussions on the ideas of throwing a larger engine in the Grom and why they may be hesitant to do so. Personally, while I don't care about them throwing a much larger engine in there - I'd like to see them give it a little performance bump. Even if it's a "separate" model for the more performance oriented guys and keep the same engine they've used for the people that don't care about wanting more performance. They could do it easily as heck, their 160cc setup in the PCX / ADV is pumping out 15hp and that'd be a substantial increase for the Grom and get a lot of existing owners to trade their older Grom in for a new one whereas slight styling tweaks like this for 2025 aren't going to get a lot of us excited enough to run out and buy a new one. Long story short though, I don't know but it's a good question lol! Appreciate ya watching and hopping in the conversation bud ;)
The 12inches tires, suspension , brakes etc cannot take the stress from a 300cc …simple as that….if they update everything it would cost like a 300 cc so on point…….just buy a cb300 and change to a 12 inches tires
Because then it would eat into their more profitable offerings. They want to price the grom such that they can say "Hey for only $50 more per month I can get you on this real motorcycle over here"
It is hard to do more to such a reliable platform. But I agree with the a bit more power. But on the styling side I think they nailed it. I really like the looks of it.
Oh yeah, it's a fine line to walk with how and what they do to this platform. While the 2021 engine updates did bring a lot of older Grom owners back into the dealership to upgrade - there's only so long they'll be able to keep that up. I don't see a lot of past Grom owners getting excited enough over these styling updates to drop everything and run out to buy a new one. Whereas if they made some slight performance increases, it'd really push people to go out and buy a new one. These are still going to continue to sell like hot cakes though, so I don't see it being detrimental in the grand scheme of things but there's only so long that they can continue to pump them out with less than 10 hp, before someone starts knocking on their door with some real competition for the Grom. And on that front, it blows my mind that we still haven't seen a direct competitor for it! Yes, Kawasaki tried with the Z125 but it was a rather lackluster attempt in my opinion but other than that - it's just been some of the smaller unknown brands that have given it a try. Enough of my rambling though lol, long story short - I think they nailed the styling as well, she looks better than ever BUT a 15'ish hp engine in there would've really put it over the top and had all of us current Grom owners biting at the bit to get a new one. I think they know they could get by with the minimum at this point and still be on top, so why spend the $$ in R&D if you don't have to I guess. @@REVNUMANEWBERN No problem at all bud ;) It's pretty wild at just how many bolt-on things are out there for the Grom platform that you wouldn't normally think are available, like those trike kits, side carts, turbo kits, massive engine swaps and all kinds of stuff. If I ever hit the lotto, I'd have some pretty wild Groms built in all sorts of different ways lol!
Honda makes a LOT of changes under the radar and don't always note them in press releases etc. So it's going to be super interesting once the parts fiche is released, to see if the transmission internals are identical or if they made some tweaks on that front! Be awesome if they would just make it a 149cc engine. then it could very easily do highway speeds and add a 6th gear. I have a 2024 Grom stock so far, and it's definitely an amazing bike. Also, the throttle sensitivity could be addressed as well. Blue would be awesome as is the Honda Red, but make them all matt style like the SP. So much better and you don't ever see smudges on the gas tank.
I ordered and purchased my 2024 JDM Grom and am just waiting for delivery date. It’s a good time to live in Japan. 😁 I’m looking forward to the updates and kind of happy that the mechanics haven’t changed. Honda seems to just change the mechanical stuff when it has been tested enough to make sure it’s bullet proof. So there shouldn’t be any mechanical issues with the new Grom generation even if it isn’t wildly different. Where did you get your info for the charging port being standard?
I’d be willing to add another mini moto to the stable it’s ain’t like it’s taking up a whole space when you can slot two up in one spot. The z125 is built to where I want it. Always fun to build another
This new model I noticed different with my 24, there is a gray button under the throttle, with a lightbulb on and off, wonder what that does? probably to turn off the headlight
Looks awesome ! Would love for them to come with maybe 12.5hp without putting in any more weight if possible , awesome things just need a little sprinkle of bhp on top
I just hope the OEM belly pan will fit the 2024, I’ve been living a nightmare dealing with the cheap Thailand pans. A little angry that they decided to make it stock after buying a new Grom. Just like my iPhone 14, now they make them in Titanium 🙄
lol you got that right bud, it never fails that they always seem to upgrade things right after I buy them too! I can't say with 100% certainty that it'll bolt right onto the 2024 but I'd say the odds are 99.99% in your favor as the engine / exhaust is unchanged. So that means it should bolt right onto the USA 2022+ models with no issues. The OG / SF guys might have to do a little "massaging" on the mounting hardware but it'll be interesting to see once these are actually released and we can find out for sure.
Due to EU regulations for the small A1 motorcycle license you can get at 16, the Grom cannot get any more powerful. It needs to have a maximum of 0.1 kW per kg (about 0.06 hp/lb) and a maximum of 125 cc, or you need to wait until you are 18 and get the A2 license.
6 gears would be nice and a water cooled radiator would be awesome!! But who knows if that will ever happen! And maybe also it putting out 15 horsepower
Can’t believe it took me 12 hours to see this, been DROOLING for this video. Got a call today from my local Honda dealer because I was harassing them about the new model because I WANT it. Unfortunately I’m going to have to buy the 2024 model due to I just want to get out and ride but will definitely be putting that fairing on. Bittersweet but that’s life. I was hoping for a 3 or 4 valve, six speed, 160 cc lovely Honda Grom. And/ot the special edition or new Grom having a front faring like the Honda NX500 with little wind screen or as the new CFMoto Papio 126 XO-1 has. Or Honds could at least give us some more of the Asia, latin american, and eouropean market small motorcycles. Perhaps it is the environmental protection agency hurdles?
Tbh the should've kept the washers, it was probably one of the most iconic things on the grom, and the side pannels leave A LOT to want, they look incomplete or like they only had one try and never revised it
I love the engine tray, I will likely get that for my 24 grom as I haven't found an aftermarket one that's good quality and fit like this oem, I was curious to see how the fit would be with aftermarket exhaust especially looped ones
Still have the same signals from the first gen 😂 First thing I'm changing if I get a Grom instead of a Monkey this summer. Still undecided between getting a Grom or a Monkey, the Grom has a lot going for it at a lower price. Well looks like I might just end up waiting for these to come out before I get another one. I had gotten a '23 last June and only had it for a month before some prick decided to steal it from me. Been dealing with the insurance, but some shit took some time. Got subpoenaed for his first hearing in September and just received another one for a restitution hearing in Feb.
I don't think it's likely there will ever be a powertrain change as it shares it with the monkey, cub, trail, etc. Unless they upped them all, which would be cool.
I would like to see a good 3 to 4 hp difference but I don’t think the reaches and development would be worth it exactly being that thay have the mini moto segment on lock. Maybe one day a big bore kit but fat chance
Totally agree on a 4 valve head or even a bump in displacement. Honda must know were fighting for our lives out here against the soccer moms in mini vans!

My wife calls the Rebels the Grom 300, Grom 500, and Grom 1100, and I agree. Feel like big kid Groms to me.

I would love a Grom thats capable of going 80mph that way it would be safer to ride on the highway.

Looks much better than the first 5-speed Grom. The bullet holes were an eyesore.

so it could be around 10 kW, 13,6 HP ... that's 4 (40% !) more than now.

Tbh the should've kept the washers, it was probably one of the most iconic things on the grom, and the side pannels leave A LOT to want, they look incomplete or like they only had one try and never revised it

This chassis is near perfect, but the power is just short.
I think it’s time for the Grom to become a 15-20 hp bike. Leave everything else the same.
Going to miss the washers on the 22 fairings! But I still think the 2017-2021 SF fairings were the best!

I love the engine tray, I will likely get that for my 24 grom as I haven't found an aftermarket one that's good quality and fit like this oem, I was curious to see how the fit would be with aftermarket exhaust especially looped ones

Still undecided between getting a Grom or a Monkey, the Grom has a lot going for it at a lower price. The Monkey is plain beautiful 😍

Well looks like I might just end up waiting for these to come out before I get another one. I had gotten a '23 last June and only had it for a month before some prick decided to steal it from me. Been dealing with the insurance, but some shit took some time. Got subpoenaed for his first hearing in September and just received another one for a restitution hearing in Feb.
I don't think it's likely there will ever be a powertrain change as it shares it with the monkey, cub, trail, etc. Unless they upped them all, which would be cool.

I would like to see a good 3 to 4 hp difference but I don’t think the reaches and development would be worth it exactly being that thay have the mini moto segment on lock. Maybe one day a big bore kit but fat chance
Id like to see a grom in a 175. I think itd be perfect

Totally agree on a 4 valve head or even a bump in displacement. Honda must know were fighting for our lives out here against the soccer moms in mini vans!
