Great video. A big fan of budget builds, save old bikes etc. I’ve got myself an old diamond back Sorrento off marketplace for £30. Someone invested time and money in to it at some point and it’s a peach. A Frankenstein but it works. Have started gravel biking and think this is a perfect bike for it, can’t get on with drop handles so probably will avoid that mod for now. First event in August and can’t wait!

That’s great to hear! Budget builds are great fun and mine seem to get attention everywhere they go! Good luck for your first event - enjoy!!

As long as the frame will fit them, they really do transform the bike!! 👍👍😎

The route looks great! Do you map it out online or just explore until you find a nice path? Greetings from Sweden :)

Hey thanks for watching! It’s a bit of a mixture of planning, exploring and local knowledge - plus Dave’s a great route planner!

Do you notice a difference in braking power because of the brake pads sitting higher, than with 26" wheels and so less mechanical advantage?

Not hugely as it’s only a small adjustment, I tried them going from 26” to 700c and it didn’t feel so good and power was lost a bit as well

Nice work, but how do you get the road shifters to work with the mtb deraillier?

Thanks very much!! It’s really easy to be honest - all the shimano stuff up until a few years ago has the same pull ratio whether it’s road or mtb, so they will all work together perfectly!! 👍

@@Downhillsmoothtarmac 100% the new stuff is designed to make you spend $$ and new gear. Anything pre 2010 will nicely fit together, even campi record carbon lever will work with dura ace / xtr of old..no issues

7,8 and 9 speed shimano groupsets are cross compatible (there might be some exceptions that I'm not aware of like ultegra). For example 9sp Deore Xt mech will work with 9 speed shimano sora shifters.
