- John's appearance on the last day of KHJ's Superstar Week is such a unique & enjoyable side of Lennon. Nothing else quite captures how he is here . . freewheeling thru phone-calls and spinning tunes. Lifelong fans already know well his humor from interviews, The Beatles Christmas Discs, and other sources . . . but this is different.
I never knew how much of this I'd heard from "The Lost Lennon Tapes" in the late 80's, but after downloading "Walls & Bridges Revisited" I discovered I'd only known about 70% of it.
My chosen lossless source turned-out to be missing one track ( 20. Intro For Elton / Tobias #4 / News Break / Calls 'Have You Heard The Word' / Intro Into ) but I managed to find & reconstruct most of it from yet another source. And besides, it's not "Have You Heard The Word ?" the caller asks about, but another Beatleg entirely.
I am rather thrilled that both parts fit so perfectly into 2 15 minute segments btw ! . . just some meant-to-be once again.

The one and only John Lennon! When they made that guy, they broke the mold. I'm so happy to have spent time on this planet while he was here. And his three friends as well. Beatles forever!!!!
Guy had an unstoppable wit. Just amazing.
His Tobias spots here are by far some of THE funniest sh*t I've ever heard. The guy was unreal.
Unpopular opinion but Walls And Bridges is my favorite Lennon album. It has his funkiest stuff as well as “#9 Dream” which is just majestically beautiful.

'Bless You' is my favorite Lennon solo song, so right off the bat I have a very soft spot for Walls and Bridges. Overall though, Plastic Ono Band is still my favorite Lennon album
John was effing hilarious!!!!! His humour over the years, even unintentionally, was too funny! Classically English and classically john.

The guy calling in for What’s The New Mary Jane when it was a bootleg at the time is incredible.
He was so funny totally love this, he sounds like Robin Williams in Good morning Vietnam doing his D.J. comedy

John would have been a natural comedy DJ! Could you imagine him up against Howard Stern??
As good as Howard was in the 80's & 90's, Lennon would've been more Quick-Witted & Clever than Howard.
That humor is just one of the many things I loved about John. His humor, his honesty, his fearlessness, his reality, his rudeness, his love for all things right. I miss him everyday. I hope I can meet him someday on the other side... ❤

Love you always. I planted a tree in your honor. On my property. It was about 3 ft. When I planted it on the hill top. It is so strong and so tall now. It covers the hillside and protects all who sit under it. Thank you brother John..

Nice to see more comments on Part 2, which I'll assume means most folks are just finishing both parts.
The download numbers still show twice as many for Part 1, which I usually read as "people are just too busy to follow thru on the whole thing" . . . which is sad cuz a lot of the best moments are there !
I can't wrap my mind around anyone not listening to both parts. I'd like to experience more of DJ John, if available. Ty again, for these.

Thank you for posting this... sheer genius! I was a kid in L.A. at the time... I don't remember if I tried to call in, but knowing me, I probably did! Your graphics are great, btw.
Like a few musicians these days I realise now that John would've done very well with his own music show or even podcasts where he talks on the issues of the day.
This reminds me of the stuff around "The Who Sell Out". John has a nice spin on it.
I've got a desire to buy from Tobias clothes. Their pitchman is quite convincing.

WOW! He was a Natural. Even though it would be WAY below what he was (Musical/Songwriting Genius/Artist), he could've easily become a Legendary Shock Jock Radio Personality. He would've been A Lot more "Clever/Witty" than Howard Stern.

There's not generally a lot of "tripping" on cocaine,altho' it's well documented that he'd partied thru the night up to the 6:am broadcast.
I don't hear "rude" either, more like trying to keep up with the fast-paced format, & rather genuine w/ most folks.
& any fan who says "worst album" instead of, say,"weaker". . is too supercilious for me. . plus, Walls & Bridges is just different & fine.

I believe it includes the key line "loved like this before", making it possible to Google perhaps . . . now that it's on the tip of my mind !!

He might be funny, but as dad to Julian and wife Cynthia at the time he was a horrible person.
John sounds like he's tripping on cocaine. He's not nearly as funny as he thinks he is, and a bit rude to callers. Plus, WALLS AND BRIDGES arguably one of his worst albums
