    Awesome 4 wire braid. FYI, this could also be used "Flat four" connectors for trailer light wiring!

    By far the best CZcams channel for diy cables and mods. I really appreciate the work you do, man. After building a few mx500 earbuds, I want to try my hand at cable-making and this series is just what I needed. Would love to see more videos on 15.4mm and 14.8mm earbud builds/mods too.     Binder clip works great for securing the braiding. Especially if you have a boom mic or anything attached to a scissor arm.

    Awesome content, new subscriber! I'm so fed up of Apple Lightning-3.5mm adaptors being shit and breaking every few months. Am wanting to make a cable that has both a 3.5mm jack and a separate lightning connector. Has anybody done this before/got any experience?

    Great tutorial! How much does the cable shorten after braiding, for example what wire length for a 1 meter complete cable?

      Depends on the diameter. I tried braiding 4 3mm 1M cables and they are about 85cm after the process.

    May I ask if the thread near the outside ground is also a ground? I am curious because with my KZ 8-core GOld Copepr Silver mixed cable 560 jack has 2 cores soldered there. And 2 cores also pointing out like it isn't soldered. But the cable is in perfect sound, no noise or whatsoever.

    Can you please advise the proportion between braided cable and raw cable? Like 1.5 meter of raw cable will be 1 meter of braided cable. I know that it is depended on how tight of braiding but I need to get some idea. Thank you bro.

      Pin is additional 1cm, Jack is additional 2.5cm, the tightness in the video, 1.25m length braided total Cable length is 1.2m @24awg

    how to build with a mic modul (braid cable), can the ground and mic be combined and work properly? Please answer. thx

      if you have a mic built in you should have 4 wires, one for the right plus, one for the left plus, one for ground and one for the mic, but you can braid it the same way like this, only instead of having 2 ground you have ground and mic. you can split the ground off later.

    Have you had any damage to the wires where they connect to the jack? Whenever I braid my cables I make a few braids and then clamp the cable instead of the jack. Very informative video.

    So once you get around the distance where you want the Y-split, how do we know which ground goes with which side? Red is right, Blue is left, and there's two ground wires correct?

      For single ended wires, it does not matter which ground goes to which sides for balanced, will need to label before hand

    Those are some soft wires you're using! Are these the soft Hakugei 5N copper wires? I've got 7 metres on the way. Very good tutorial, by the way.

      These are not the hakugei, but hakugei we can recommend, their PE and PU stuff are good to work with,

    Hi,
    whats really got me confused is how the wires run between a single 2.5mm TRRS male jack to the headphone plugs in a balanced cable? How do you connect the TRRS to TRS/2 pin plugs? Sorry but im a newbie, just trying to fig stuff out!

      TRRS TO TRS (2.5mm) ...well you're be losing functionality with something. TRRS are often used with headphone cables that have a mic (like the headphones that come with cell phones)... if you don't care about the mic in replacing the cabling, just solder the mic input to ground.

    Thank you very much! I have a question, maybe you can help. I use a braided cable with my custom in-ear monitors. My CIEMs are connected to a mixing board (I am a drummer). I have terrible problems with noise coming from my phone when it is close to the cable. Is it possible to make custom braided cable with shielded cable? I have never seen this. Does it make sense?

      It is possible but shielded cables are very bulky for iems. There should be some photos of shielded iem cables we build on our instagram, but I'm not too sure

      @@sgaudiohive I just checked your instagram. Really nice cables you have there 👍 Hard to tell which one could be shielded thou. I searched online and the smallest shielded litz wires i found are around 1,8-2,3 mm .. so you are right that could be a bit to bulky. Do you think it could help to put some braided copper sleeve and shrink tube around my cable, maybe only up to the y-section? thanks :D

    Very nice tutorial. But what if i wanted to do it with 8 wires? i suppose it will be like: 2 for R, 2 for L and 4 grounds (2-R grounds and 2-L grounds). Am i right?

      @@ImCannibalOfficial try mogami cable 2944 for top notch headphone cabling. the braiding is internal. This guy is probably using 24 gauge copper hookup cable. many people have been asking the same question in the comments but he is not answer them at all! so I'm guessing he's just using a no name brand. BTW The reason braided cables exist is for RF interference reduction. im not sure if his braid is doing this ... but usually more intricate handmade braids will not work any better than simple twisted pairs and braids.. stick with mogami for the best. a cheaper alternative is canare quad-star

      Definitely, the difference between balanced and single end is just the connector, will do up content regarding balanced

    What`s the lost ratio from single wire during braiding? For example: I want to make 2m, 4 wire cable, how long every single wire should be before braiding?

      The thinner the wire the more u lose. Would say is about 20% for 2m 1.2mm

    4.7% silver, 4N 99.993% pure tin. 1.7% pure copper solder can be used?

      3% or 4% silver is about the same, depends on your setup and built. The flux Etc on it should be enough for ease of soldering

    I absolutely hate the lumpy feel of braided cables AND they tangle like fuck.
    I'm fine with braided cables, as long as the outer finish is smooth.

    It is impossible to know what you are getting with Ali express. Who knows if it is OCC wire or authentic pure copper.

    This use of the body camera results in a very nervous twitching video! Avoid stand-alone solutions, this is very jerky, annoying and painful to the eyes! It's just not good to watch!
