@ 1:12 was a clear winner. The little nuances in his raspy breath, the vibrato and note length were dead on. I am doing this contest next year.

The only "close" voice to Frank's was Alan Gordon, and when I heard Berry oliver... That "beloooooooong" sounded extremely like Sammy Davis Jr. with Frank and Liza Minnelli in "the ultimate event", back in '89

Well seing some Gordon videos, he might have the voice at some points but way far of sounding like Sinatra, that's the problem with Sinatra, he was THE VOICE, no one will ever sound as good as him.

It's interesting, some sound more like Sinatra but can't sing as well, and some can sing well and do the vocal acrobats easily, but the tone isn't exactly there.

Are singers recognised to sound like Sinatra because of the songs and the arrangements? How about some songs that he had never covered. New songs, but in his style. Would Sinatra be recognised by voice alone?

I'm not a Frank Sinatra impersonator. I happen to sing like he does, and I can sing him at any phase of his career. My only limitation is Sinatra's power! There is a point in a number where he'll leave you with your mouth open, like, how the f did he hit or punch that note!? Incidentally, there is not one impersonator, aside from their doing his body and speakeasy shtick, who actually sings like him. My vocal timbre is different, but my approach to singing is natural and near identical so that when I started to actually study him in 1885 after a successful rendition of New York, New York in high school I realized that he was singing like me! There is no indication, by the way, of his astonishing yet non operatic vocal power in his work with the Hoboken Four. His specialty was a non operatic yet powerful vocal approach, which is a bedrock for countless other singers. I only regret that I simply cannot match his sudden punches, that "gamut" or quantum leap he does from Gamma to Ut. Nevermind the legato or sustain, hard enough in their own right to copy, or his "Chest to "Mask" or "Speech Level" techniques that he helped to patent but never copyrighted even though he co-authored material on it better than anything else on the internet. There should be a Frank Sinatra Academy with this work, Tips for Popular Singing, as core curriculum. I guarantee it will produce singers, though not Sinatra copycats and clones (he wouldn't have wanted that), of the finest quality or ability. Remember, kids,. Always Uh, Never Ahh.

If you want to develop Sinatra's power, teach junior high for about five years. Not yelling, but a well developed teacher voice makes a big impact on your singing power.
