    Dear coach Rip,
    My girlfriend has been diagnosed with hypermobility, which means she is unusually flexible around all joints, and can assume seemingly impossible positions with her body. She also has been diagnosed with macromastia, a condition characterized by abnormally large breasts. That's it. I don't really have any questions regarding training, or anything. Just writing you to brag about it. Cheers.

    One day I would like to meet Mark , and shake the hand of the man behind Starting Strength. My fear is that in real life he is not as warm and cuddly as he appears on these podcasts.

    The "no problem" response to a thank you is a younger generation thing. Millennials and younger typically. Best explanation is that we don't feel that it was a burden to do something we were asked or expected to do. I use it all the time at work when someone says thank you. I think people who say no problem are really trying to express that "no thanks was necessary" in the first place.

    Thank you for your time addressing fans questions. You have said on several occasions that it isn't lifting weights that makes you strong but the recovery from lifting weights that does. Lifting weights causes micro tears which is what heals resulting in stronger muscles fibers and greater cross section of these fibers. Would then further muscle contraction such as flexing after lifting further the effects of lifting weights and thus result in greater hyper trophy? I don't recall flexing as being part of the program. Why would it or would it not be?
    Thanks and cheers!
    Kyle

    Hey Rip, I'm having an issue with my NLP. I am 6'6, 270lb, 26y/o male. Latest 5 rep PRs: 315 squat, 160 press, 215 bench, 240 powerclean, and 450 DL. I invested in building a home gym in 2019. I can no longer follow the program. My gym's ceiling is too short (89 inches) for me to press with plates wider than my 10lb ones and my next set calls for a heavier press than I have 10lb plates for. To get back on the program should I a.) carry my bar and weights outside on press days (id need to clean and press for this) b.) buy a comercial gym membership (if any of them still exist in Chicagoland area after shelter in place), c.) buy a beater bar and beater rack and beater weights (maybe rubber?) to keep outside for press days, or d.) buy a whole lot of 10lb plates? Thank you, being stronger has helped me a lot in ways Id be happy to share if I ever find a time to get to your seminars: ps inquiring minds would like to know if you'll ever do a seminar in the midwestern us.

    • @sleepingtube
      @sleepingtube Před 4 lety

      A then C. If you can leave the weights outside and just carry the bar in and out, you won't have to buy a new bar. There's nothing wrong with the clean and press. Once you switch to a 4 day split, it might even be beneficial

I went to the WFAC gym for a while and will probably return, especially if the gym I use now (free perk of my job) closes (again.) Hi Rip, I have started a novice linear progression but am still maintaining a semi-decent level of fitness. Will I begin to experience higher levels of obesity once I make it to the intermediate stage? I'm assuming my skin won't take on a stark pinkish hue until I make it to the advanced stage. Should I stop all conditioning and stick to a strict gravy-based diet to reach my desired level of obesity and a general unhealthy appearance more quickly? Thanks!

    Rip's philosophy of science is stuck in 1945. It's funny that someone can trot out Karl Popper with a straight face and pretend that other philosophers of science haven't dismissed him extensively over the past 75 years. Using Rip's logic, Darwin, Einstein, and pretty much any astrophysicist are not actually scientists.
