  • This impressive show was held in the Sports Hall (and the squash court!) of Preston College in Preston in the north west of England.
The exhibition was organised by the Preston & District Model Railway Society and featured an excellent show guide booklet for an extra £1.
We had fun with our travel and managed to use the services of ScotRail, TransPennineExpress, Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry all in one return trip!
For layouts we have featured in earlier videos we try to concentrate on new features and/or different rolling stock if possible.
This video comprises four parts and we visited Preston on 2nd March 2024.

Nice to see you showing who the modellers are.

Thanks, I always try to credit the owners as I don't build these show layouts myself, plus gives some publicity to the individuals and model railway clubs who might pick up interest from new members.

I went to the London Festival of Railway Modelling the week before last!! I spent just under a thousand Quid on new railway equipment. I absolutely love attending the shows and can hardly wait for the one at Whitewebbs!!

Fine layouts ! All of them. Maintaining realistic speed and gentle moves however is a must in model railroading. Otherwise it becomes toy like and spoils a good looking setting.

Yes, totally agree as realistic running speeds are very important to match the scenery. Sometimes people get carried away and run the trains too quickly!

I especially love the Headingley and Stanley Junction layouts because I love the steam hauled long haul passenger trains!

Yes I agree, some excellent longer passenger trains on those layouts. Glad you're enjoying the video!

Why is it that the Class 20 diesel locomotive sounds like there’s a constant ringing bell? I don’t really like them, but understand their historical significance.

Thanks John. I like to hear the sound of the locos (if they have sound) or the ambiance of the hall as you can sometimes hear great comments in the background when people admire a layout.
