    Hi Pete, enjoying my cup of coffee while I watch your new video. I'm with you on the TTTF and letting it chill during the summer. I went to the beach too in June/July for two weeks and didn't water it and cut it when I returned. It was still green w/no signs of stress. Right now we've been getting nailed with upper 90s and 100 degree days here in Maryland this last weekend and on Monday. I still haven't cut it after two weeks and it's still green. My neighbors who cut weekly have a decent amount of heat stress, but mine does not. Good luck on your experiment and looking forward to seeing the results.

    This is really neat to see Pete I’ve been following the cool season program. I have TTTF due to everything going on this year with prices sky rocketing on everything I have had to cut back. I hated to do it but it is what it is. This season I put down protein in may and the spring and prodiamene in the spring. That’s it. I’ve been really shocked how well my turf has hung in there. I got some trouble spots with disease and a few weeds here and there but my turf still looks fine. Honestly I’m not worried because I know in the fall when I aerate and over seed and start feeding again it will come back to life. It’s hard to see problems in the turf and do nothing about it. But I just have to keep telling my self the fall it will all be fixed.

    I’ve been messing around putting down low rates of Greene punch during the summer. I try to wait until we get some weather where the temps drop to the low 80s for a stretch and then do a low rate foliar spray with natural adjuvant. So far the results are amazing.
    This is in addition to spoon feeding with 5-0-5 and microgreene. Also I think the GreeneKick is really doing a great job with stress and water retention. Earlier this summer I was doing a lot of hand watering of the edges of my lawn in addition to running the irrigation. It just needed it. But since using Greene Kick the edges have stayed green and lush and haven’t needed any supplemental water.

    Hi Pete Charles from Middle TN, I've done that 2 years in row. I fertilized my GCI Cool Blue at a full rate of 30-0-10. Of course I had already pretreated for fungus. The only bad thing that came out of doing that was I had to cut twice a week. I had no disease pressure, no browning, melting out, nothing but a thinck dark green lawn (I also put down Iron), I did my application mid July without changing my watering habits. I'll tell you, you are not likely to experience problems in the lawn. I love mowing so certainly didn't mind cutting twice a week. Since that's my schedule in fall and winter anyway.
    Anyway, just my two cents, which don't mean a whole hill of beans. You're in NC so things may be different for you. But I've not had any issues. Wish I could attach a picture for you.

    I live is a transition zone… where everyone has Tall fescue. They don’t do the Bermuda in the summer and perennial rye in the cool season .. is your TTTF good in the summer where it gets to 110 at times? Also when do you plant TTTF?

    Nice, I am wondering, do you have any thoughts about Texas Bluegrass? I've heard it holds its color longer through hot summers. I also live in an arid climate, hot (100 degree+) summers, cool/cold winters, very sunny, no disease pressure at all (Havent applied any fungicides for 13 years at this house). What is the best grass for me?

    • @GCITurf
      @GCITurf  Před rokem +2

      I can not speak on texas bluegrass because i have never seen it or heard of it. I can say blue heat would probably hold up just as well as long as you have irrigation

    Pete, I have a question for you. You said you put down Protene 19-0-19 fertilizer down. Are you referring to the winter Protene fertilizer on your website or some other Protene fertilizer? I realize that you call it your "winter fertilizer", however, if the contents are what you are after then it could be applied at any time. Is this the Protégé 19-0-19 fertilizer you referred to in the video?

    Pete- my GCI TTTF mowed at 4.5” all summer, treated with fungicide every 28 days. Is so thick that the base of the plant never seems to dry. I think i got some die off because of that. New lawn planted last fall. Ive got 8-10 spots where the lawn is going brown. Does this seem normal??
