    Great video, my dude. I tried a few lever machines recently and they are really something so fun, even though I'm much more partial to the science nerd machines that give you more data and control. Thanks for reviewing this one, I hope to get my hands on one someday!

    Great video! Greetings to you from a fellow lever owner (I own a 110 lbs beast that’s called Izzo Valexia Leva. It’s pumpless and without an internal water tank, so I have it plumbed in, which I can HIGHLY recommend. Boiler gets filled thru line pressure, and the machine is dead silent and sexy!)
    May the Pro 800 bring you much joy 😁

    Hi Xris! Great review! There's not many reviews out there. Was wondering what temperature you set your boiler at? If say temp is set to 93c, is that enough to get a decent steam?

    I would experiment with holding the lever at the point where water initially begins to the enter the group for a really soft preinfusion. I'm curious if one could slowly fill the group this way and raise the lever. Or does the lever need to be brought all the way down to cock something in the mechanism? Great review and machine.

    • @user-lg2jm9zg6l
      @user-lg2jm9zg6l Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah, you can gently pre-infuse... but there are sometimes issues. You can hear when the chamber opens to the boiler, about halfway down the travel of the lever, so hitting that spot is easy enough, unless you're in a noisy room. Sometimes you'll see divots on the top of the puck/evidence of possible channeling, though. These divots correspond to the four water inlets of the brew chamber sleeve. I've never had the divots happen unless I've paused just at that spot where it's open to the boiler... but it doesn't always happen, and I haven't had the chance to figure out why. I have seen that others have experience this, too, though.

    Now that you've had a chance to use a lever machine I'd love to hear your take on a modern (cartridge-heated group, dual-boiler, triple-PID, temperature-profiling) spring-lever machine such as a Vesuvius Evo Leva or the new Nurri Leva!

    Machine looks amazing! I would love to have it at home, Im thinking to buy it but the problem is 3.5l boiler. It need time and energy to heat that amount of water and I just want one espresso in the morning, nothing else. I work in machine selling company so I drink a lot of coffee at work. Some questions
    How you flush this machine (as it is HX machine) to have the right water temp?
    For example, in my HX machine(Rancilio Epoca St1) i flush until the boiled water finishes, steady flow, and the i count 5" to have 93 Celsius
    How you use it to extract light roasts

    • @itsxris
      @itsxris  Před rokem +1

    • @itsxris
      @itsxris  Před rokem +1

      personally Decent is still a very small company just getting started, there's plenty of long term risk to owning the machine.
      plus no lever, aka no fun time ;)
      But one day I'll get a Decent probably

    • @decentespressoailliobullet5748
      @decentespressoailliobullet5748 Před rokem

      @@itsxris there is no "PHYSICAL" Lever, but in the Decent you can emulate many and ANY lever based machine, and so much more, especially being able to program the shot profile to share and repeat... The fun is in experimenting and being able to actually record and measure what's going on!

    • @itsxris
      @itsxris  Před rokem +2

      i know! the decent has the most insane capabilities,
      but my review emphasized the physical lever feel and pull being the primary part of enjoyment for me :)

      I'm seeing about 30 minutes or less when the house is in the 40's overnight. It's a _massive_ group, which stays very warm to the touch for _hours_ after switching the power off. Not sure why you equate physics with quality...
      And while the Decent defines capability, the generally analog nature of this machine is quite comforting. There is so little that can go wrong with this timeless design, and the parts that might conceivably fail look pretty simple to replace.

    • @SergeyKamenezki
      @SergeyKamenezki Před rokem

      @@k2u364 Cremina SL is a spring loaded one. But the experience that James was referring to was all about 100% manual lever. Spring loaded levers are not the same. They're more or less similar to pup driven machines but they have a curve which is fixed for a.spring that is used. So, I can't see how it compares with manual lever. Manual lever Is about feeling the resistance of the coffee, forcing the water through it. It is a really satisfying process. Spring loaded lever is different.
