In todays episode we're installing a new core support, headlight bracket, and getting to work on replacing the rear quarter panel.
Thanks to Michael Eleas for the help with the quarter panel!

Glad I could help with some parts! The donor shell the quarter came from put 4 other supras back on the road 🤙
Awesome
Hell yeah
Your content is awesome! Super underrated
@@yut7774 thank you so much! I have so much fun doing it, glad you are enjoying it 😁🙏
Hey Elsea's I believe I need the same type of help on the front end. Do you have a part number for the upper radiator support ?
It's a little detail but the sticker from the old upper radiator support would be neat if there's a way to transfer it over.
I was thinking the same thing! Ik there is a way to replicate in photoshop and reprint. That and the oe paint would definitely bring it all together.
It’s a Japanese timing belt replacement sticker. Almost every JDM import will either have them on the timing cover or core support. You can buy a 10 pack on ebay for like $10 US. The only hard part would be replicating the handwriting but again it’s not original to the car.
To do this, use alcohol in a syringe and squirt it under the sticker to transfer it.
heat gun (low heat) and a Teflon/delrin spatula scraper
“If you’re following along at home” Oh. Yah. Totally following along on my own supra restoration.
Cry
Maybe after my crypto wins the crypto lottery my mechanic will be using this video as a reference.
Yeah, me too.
Some people are 🤷🏻♂️
He really helped me when I was following along on my ls swapped hurrican 😂
your color code is : Alpine Silver Metallic 199, U199 👌
the engine bays on supras were the same colour but just base-coat I.e. Without the laquer.
Man I have to say I love seeing you guys strive to do a build “right”. Talking about fretting over matching the engine bay color made me unreasonably happy. Loving the build.
Lol this dudes a hack.
So different watching you put together a car with "OEM" and "Genuine" being referenced several times in an episode. Amazing work as always guys!
SEM "ez coat" is the primer paint you may be looking for, they have several colors and shades to match oem ecoat primers (green/grey)
Yes but the under hood colors aren’t included in those that they have. The EZ coat are for trunks and such that match the factory’s e-coat.
I’d love to see you pull the motor and repaint the whole bay, little things like that make the world of a difference
I have been following this channel for a couple years now and it is a pleasure to see you build such amazing and awesome project cars all by your own. God bless you with good health Chris and all the very best for the future.
I love your attention to detail when it comes to bringing the car back to OEM fresh.
you should respray the engine bay the exterior color will look a lot better than the factory engine bay color and matches the exterior
The factory paint for the engine bay is actually just the exterior color without the clear coat. That's why it looks different even though its the same color.
Liking that you are using proper parts and using detail to keep it as factory as possible ,well done 😃
It’s the exact same paint code as the outer colour, you just ask them for the underbody colour instead of the outer colour it will be on any major paint manufacturers system. It will be a 2k direct gloss application
That would be correct for any other colour on a mkiv supra, but on the 199 silver supra it was just primer under the bonnet.
It's e coat it's not even primer
The cream / greenish coating in the engine bay is factory ED dip or you may know it as anti-corrosion coating. Replacement panels in the late 90's early 2000's that went out via service parts at least from Nissan (NMUK) came with black ED coating where as the factory original ED was that creamy / green colour.
Looks like Toyota did the same as Nissan just paint the outside and the parts of the door checks and engine bay that people can see leave the rest with just ED dip
Get yourself a mini belt sander and 3M cubitrons belts for removing spot welds. The purple belts can be a bit pricey but it will cut your time in half and usually you can remove a whole rad support/quarter panel with one belt.
Hey Chris, iv been in the body shop world for 5 years now and iv always found it way easier and faster to belt sand spot welds on parts that are being replaced. harbor freight or the 3M belt sander with 80g works great
Hole punch works great for new parts also rather than drilling all of the holes in that lower support
chris you really need a finger file for those spot welds its so quicker than drilling them out.
Love all your videos 🫡 straight to the point and no BS 😎 all you guys have great skills 💪🏽
10/10 for leaving the battery in place while you weld right beside it lol
All honesty though this is a great restoration
Awesome to see the progress! 👍🏼
I’m loving this Supra project! It’s cool to see you doing a restoration instead of using coat hangers and Saran Wrap!
JUST KIDDING! I thought what you did with that Burntican was awesome!
Also, as a stage III cancer survivor I’m giving you all my positive JuJu just because I know it ain’t fun, or easy.
I love the way you explain everything. Well done, love the show!
Love the turn around on this build and all the great work you and the team are doing
If mishimoto sent you the good stuff it would have been a koyo rad
100%
This gonna be a beauty, who doesn’t love a restoration?
The car is looking good Chris! Can't wait to see it done!
You boys are smashing it out nice work as always!
Every episode I'm just loving more and more that Supra! God bless. Great work
Looking good nice to see a clean Supra not making overkill amount of power
If you’re wondering what color the support is, it’s just eco primer grey that you can get at your automotive paint store. They have different colors that match the factory
The color code for radiator support might be the same as you used but when having the paint mixed, you have to say that it is for underside of panels like hood, etc - there are several variations under the same code. It uses most of same components but no metallic flakes.
Been watching you for years Chris but this is one of the most exciting builds for me!
favorite build so far. Cant wait to see if finished.
It's so cool You are rebuliding it with proper OEM parts. This car is worth it ❤️
So, mine's not starting and I diagnosed a fuel pump and took to CZcams... Lo and behold, 2 videos in, I find this build, and now I'm watching through the entire series and trying to avoid getting carried away...
Flying through this build bro , AND YOUR LOOKING HEALTHY AND STRONG 💪🏽
Damn, ir looks gorgeous already. Can’t wait to see it finished. Great content as always!
I like the fact this is staying semi OEM and went back to the BIFB roots with them spot-welds
Can’t wait to see the finished product! I was thinking a red paint job would be cool. Or a blue.
awesome lookin good !!! cant wait to see the rims ur gonna use.
Enjoying to seeing the process ☺️☺️
Harbour freight should have spot weld drill bit kits, probably save you a bunch of time and effort
I don't know why but I got very excited over the new radiator and fan. I was literally like. Damn that looks nice.
Love Mishimoto products. Good product for a good price. Bought something from them last month.
Nice work guys.
When the front is done, it would be really cool, if you could save those stickers that were on the original core support, for the new one.
Seeing you drill spot welds reminds me of the old brz build! So many spot welds!
Looking good so far!!!!
Another great video!
I'm really loving that front bumper and sideskirts, all the car needs is the TRD wing and rear spats(or rear bumper extension) to look complete! Can't wait to see it complete! 😁
Looking great!
Love lets goo ❤️🔥✌️ big respect for all videos
I am a huge fan of your show that Toyota Supra is going to look cool once y'all finish with it
08:30 - That's awesome Idea to Skin-off a damaged car - Follow those line with an outer roll-cage
Great progress.
Loving this build…praying it doesn’t get wide bodied 🤣🤣
3:18 You need belt sander for this job.!
30/40 Min work max.
Exactly my thoughts 😂
All you have to do is go to a paint store and buy a paint color reader and get the app. I use them all the time.
Looking very well!
Looking good!
The paint. EZ-coat paint can. Will match. Grey-62246. It’s about 20bucks a can. The other color your seeing is olive green. You can also get that color from the same company.
Recruitment apps are a good way to categorise people based on the companies they worked for and not the actual skill and experience that they have
LOVIN THIS SUPRA EPISODE! GONNA MAKE IT A CLEAAAAAN BUILD
Love your work
That Tan primer isn’t primer at all it’s actually what is called E-coat it’s an electronically applied in a dip tank. The whole car is dipped in a tank of this fluid and through electrolysis the solution bonds to the bare metal of the chassis basically sealing the bare metal on the car. It also provides a base for the actual paint primer to stick to before actual paint process.
Buy a '98 stock bumper to match your new headlights, they are still available, also get the clear turn signals, that aftermarket fiberglass bumper is a terrible choice.
I think I saw Adam LZs guy or Vtuned use an awesome spot weld remover bit! Oh and the portable dry ice cleaner unit is awesome! New tool days are awesome!!
Love the work I am a Toyota fan 👍🏽
Really like the detail of keeping the factory overspray black line, and the silver core support...that said...it would be stupid to change the car color...
Going by what I know from the Mitsubishis I have worked on from that Era of cars I think you might be spot on with the Color simply beeing the external Color without any Flake or particle in it and without a clearcoat ontop, atleast thats how Mitsubishi used to do it for the enginebay on cars that had a Metallic exterior color.
I know there is no shot they fit well but those R34 wheels you have on your Supra would obviously look awesome on the GTR.
Looked a lot like Kyle working on the lower radiator core support lol
Awesome as always man... Chris you are a legend. 🤙
before you put the front end back on, you had a great chance to take out the engine and work on it easily and clean the bay. if you're really trying to make it look perfect.
Those OEM wheels are very nice
You could drill out some big holes in the fan holding shroud for improved cooing. 2c
That is one great looking Toyota.
I used ZipRecruiter to apply for a job just now, it took less than 7 minutes to make a resume and apply for a job. 10/10
Enjoying this build can you do a longer video great work
hope you guys are having fun with this build, wish i could go to SEMA XD
Toyota uses an under-hood color on most of their vehicle, it's close to the base coat but without metallic some other company's do the same but Toyota does it the most
Try using a countersink bit for those spot welds; might help a lil bit
Looks amazing!
It's looking good
SEM sells all types OEM colour primer like light green, dark green, brown and silvers in spray cans
SEM has a line of "Ez Coat" aersols in 9 different colors made to match OEM primers for applications such as this. Part #62243 seems like it would match well
LOVE THE VIDEOS DUDE
Air hammer makes quick work of removing stuff like that. Would have been a 15 minute job. frill spot welds. Air hammer with a chisel tip and done. Any paint shop should be able to match the grey paint if you take that piece in.
Its under hood color. Its actually more common then actually exterior color. Should be in the door jam next to the paint code. If not it will be in the 95 Toyota paint book at the paint store. If I was at my shop right now I could give you the exact ppg color code
you need to buy an air punch/flange tool from harbor freight, it's what I use when doing plug/spot welds, it's so much faster than drilling
Invest in a broach spot and weld cutter bit, keep them lined and you will see the difference.
Check out SEM brand aerosol cans. They have a lot of factory color interior/ engine bay colors. Olive green, olive brown, gray etc. They should have the color you're looking for
Plug welds, not spotwelds. It's coming together great!
Sick would love to this
paint colors even for the same year will have variants .. what happens is autobody shops work on a number of vehicles and they use the factory color spec but it doesn't match.. so then they have to find the color which takes a long time... so then what they do is upload a pic and the formula with a description to the paint company that they use like Sikkens, Sherwin Williams or whoever... then the tech pulls the silver paint sample card and walks to the car and sees... its more yellow but the yellow has some green... so they look in the database and maybe someone already found the color .. and then they use that mix formula... they test it on a sprayout card.. and make adjustments if needed... .. and those variations come from different factory, different month or whatever... but thats how that works.. every paint manufacturer and every paint line from that manufacturer will have different mix formulas and variations that are submitted by the auto maker and by painters in the field. ........... good luck
Hey, new sub here! Just got done binge watching about 80% of your builds! When are you going to get back to the mid-engine Mustang! I love how that one was turning out!
we use green/grey primer for painting that frame
Mix base and clear then apply to under hood areas and looks similar to OEM
Needs a huge inter cooler fitted while you have everything off!!!!!
Wish i had a car like this 😍
Hey Chris, you should do a subscriber's car for fun. 🤣 You know, like a sedan. A 2018 Altima sounds like fun. 🤣🤣 love your work
