    @focusedonfishing...I have never seen oxtail cheaper than 4.99/lb and that is on sale. Broad beans are aka butter beans. You should be able to find them canned in any grocery style isle under any brand...Goya carries them if you can't find Grace. Scotch bonnet isn't substitute-able bc no other pepper has it's flavour. You really don't need the meat/fish sauce-use browning and Lawry's seasoning salt and let everything simmer. You will get the same basic flavour.

    Wow thank you for this, Oxtail are so expensive in the USA and my family love them, now I will try this and also the Turkey neck curry instead of Goat. So glad I found this channel.

    Love oxtails.
    I want to know how to make them 100 different way's.
    And I love the fact that our people in the Islands use natural herbs and vegetables to season their food..It's much healthier for us to use the same techniques here in U.S.A.. I started using palm-oil from Ghana-instead of the processed oil i.e.Crisco etc. Also East Afrakan Ghee-butter is great too.

    Good recipe. What can you use if you don't have the Grace Browning?
    For mine, I brown the oxtail, then put in chopped carrot, onions, celery and minced tomato paste, garlic, ginger and 2 bayleaves before covering with stock&water and simmering for a few hours. Your recipe is much quicker and won't wash out the colours.. thanks ladies! Could see myself at your kitchen table right now.

    I don't know if ghetto is the appropriate term as far as how I understand what ghetto is. Using all those fresh vegetables wouldn't always be accesable for people living in the ghetto or the seasonings and spices for the complete dish. Stewed turkey necks is what it is.

    • @teshamiller6001
      @teshamiller6001 Před 7 lety +2

      Dee Mari I was thinking the same thing. "ghetto" just sounds like an unrefined pot of "whatever" slopped together, and it takes away from the professionalism of the show. Don't call it an oxtail if it's not an oxtail. Huge difference between a bird and a bull. smh

    Turky neck is cheap unlike oxtail over in the USA at most places... so I guess that's why it's "ghetto oxtail."
