  • How i show you how you can convert your old Radio Shack RC into a modern Hobby Grade Car with a shifter by remote.
A full breakdown of what you will need to do convert a toy RC car into a Hobby Grade RC car on 2S Lipo and a Servo for steering.
I don't recommend any particular store that sells these yet, so if you find it cheaper, great! Let me know too so so I can spread the word.
These may total around $75 - $95 depending on where you decide to purchase from and may vary in Amazon based on availability.
If I gain enough subscribers and requests ill set up conversion packages that have all these parts included in one box for a cheaper set price.
    Parts:
1x ESC : Umm...Don't Bother its over priced for just one.
2x ESC Just in case you cook one (I have) : 30A ESC Brushed Electric Speed Controller w/Brake (2 Pcs) 80's www.amazon.com/dp/B07MX3514Y/...
Steering Servo (These can break on some impacts, s0o having extra is bliss!): SG90 Micro Servo 9G Servo (5 Pcs) www.amazon.com/dp/B081ZY23V4/...
Controller and Receiver Combo (Pre-"Binded" OTB with an extra toggle button for accessories like lights): Flysky FS-GT3B 2.4Ghz 3 Channel Radio Transmitter Receiver with Flysky GR3E Remote Controller - www.amazon.com/dp/B08NHZDDVF/...
Batteries and Charger (I know it says for drones but these will work for 1/28 to 1/16 scale Cars too) : 4pcs 3.7V 550mAh Lipo Battery and 4-in-1 Charger www.amazon.com/dp/B00T76AKT4/...

Hi, appreciate the tutorial, I have the exact car from childhood and looking to upgrade battery performance. I assume if I'm not worried about the hi-lo selector I can keep the original controller/transmitter, or does this affect the new servo to the front wheels. Also the battery is different to the link of the 4 in 1, for simplicity for myself is the 4in1 just wrapped together otherwise I'll look for a copy of the one you had used. Apologies if these are no brainless but I haven't dived into remote control anything before

No need for apologies, as long as you have a connection, that's all that matters. This Car is built for 12v so any 3S battery is perfect. Just mod the cars stock esc's main black and red wire battery inputs to a connector that is opposite your 3S battery. That 3S Battery alone on the stock esc and remote should be a huge upgrade with no mods beyond that, and should be safe with proper rest when driving..it'll get Super Hot! RadioShack made some very High Quality Products that were taken for granted, and their rc cars are the proof. Those motors to the wheels are "Out-of-the-box Hobby Grade" quality. Meant to last on lower power. Soo... Remember stepping into hobby power means more maintenance and wear. You will eventually have to get a new one, as all brushed motors only last so long, especially at full power and stress conditions. Choose brushless... ;) for next episode. Upgrade, be safe, have fun!
