For all in the comments discussing the darkness of the ride we have something new to say. We were on this ride again today, while we were attending White Christmas (Video Coming Soon). Although in the Wild mouse section of the ride there are now more lazers and a few more lights. Hopefully Movie World are planning on developing the ride even further.
Gold Coast Themeparks I love the monsters on the projector screens
Gold Coast Themeparks I would like to talk to you about this friend more in detail if you don’t mind
To be honest I think Warner Bros Movie World should add Scooby-Doo: The Museum of Mysteries.
Gold Coast Theme Parks This is the best for ever
To be honest, i really enjoyed the new version of the ride. When i went on it, i thought i was going to be the same as lastime. BUT NO IT WAS BETTER.
OMG THEY THREW AWAY THE SCOOBY ANIMATRONIC IN THE JUNGLE SCENE AT THE END NOOOOO THAT WAS LIKE THE BEST PART
Lion Ace I was about to say that!
lol that what i said that
i know right
I haven't been on it because it was always in maintainance whenever I went, and I'm a local who likes to come regularly
really for me it was always open I went twice a year and it was never closed tbh movie world rides have really good maintenance so they for me seem rarely closed but I do know that the Scooby do ride did have some issues as me and my sister got stuck on the ride once@@haihai9022
Although the animatronics were a bit outdated, they still looked better than the terrible CGI monsters which make even the monsters in the movie from 16 years ago look like a masterpiece. They should have just replaced the animatronics with newer versions, ensured the smoke and decent laser effects in the wild mouse area worked properly all the time and left it as was. Realistically there was nothing wrong with the original version, it just needed a bit of a facelift.
Yea quite a dissapointment considering nothing much has changed and this took almost 6 months to do and then the first day it re opened, the ride was shut down due to technical issues
They had to remove some animatronics a few years ago because they were safety hazards
Scott Richards you do realize the movie was filmed on the ride lol
@@tedioustotoro4885 - Almost every animatronic that was removed has been put back in. I was on this ride before it officially opened, have been there fortnightly - monthly since then including a period of employment with Village Roadshow. I know this ride like the back of my hand and can recite the queue line video word for word... There are further changes / improvements to come...
@@lylall-415 Hahaha... No... I was on the ride on June 12 2002 during its technical rehearsals week. The Australian red carpet premiere was on June 18 2002 and yes, I was there for that too... I doubt they got that much filming and post production work done in such a small period... Besides the fact it is a totally different type of ride in the movie ; )
Why does everyone other than Disney think projections are better than animatronics? Animatronics are always the way to go.
I agree. Disney's new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster uses projections instead of animatronics and it's awful. One of the few times I reckon that Disney got it wrong. I realise that animatronics are more expensive and break down more than projections but honestly you can't beat animatronics
And would be very expensive to build, would need constant maintenance just to work every day, and companies don’t have infinite money, despite what people seem to think.
Well, animatronics can break(aka loose there heads) projections dont
projections work great when done correctly.
Maybe it’s just the budget
i think i like the original better? guess i was expecting more after all the hype....
ian I am going up to QLD in 6 days I might go to movie world and see for my self.
It’s pretty shit. I went on it the first day it opened.
Ohhh it looks likes there’s more photos and movie bits
I AGREE
Ian i also love the original better this new one looks more childish than before
It looks like the visuals for the screens are half finished...
half finished visuals is a warner bros’ signature
I still prefer the lasers they had back when I first rode it in 2006, I miss that
TØPiplier I loved them too
I remember going on this as a young child I came out crying
OMG SCRAPPY REX HAS RETURNED THAT BEING ME!!!
It’s interesting cause I went in this ride about a year and a half ago (I’d been on it before when I was much younger) and I remember feeling shocked over how much it had changed. But what I mean by “changed” is that there was nothing. It was just an indoor coaster that was pitch black with no animatronics or effects and only a few laser lights at the end. I thought that they must’ve been phasing it out but now I see that they were getting ready to re-do it. This looks decent but I will miss the original.
This is awful compared the original. The animatronics, while yea they broke down and looked quite old (Because they were) should've just been redone, revamped or whatever. The screens brighten up the ride in certain parts too much so it just... Isn't as "scary" as it used to be. Honestly I would've preferred if they just redid things and got state of the art animatronics etc, because lets be honest, Movie world has more than enough money...
I looked back before the backwards drop when I went on it...biggest mistake of my life
Haha same
The original looked better . Looks tacky now . I thought they were changing the track as well since it took a year and a half to open again
wheres the "scooobyyy scooby doo? where are you??" at the start... mmmm it looks like it should be in 3D. please tell me its 3D and not just terrible animation. animatoronics are way creepyer. this was my fave ride as a kid and ill be coming at easter so I hope its as good as it use to be.
Sorry to disappoint you but the animatronics have just been replaced with really bad 2d animations :-(. It used to be better
I loved the original attraction and from what I can see here I’m quite disappointed. I’m not a big fan of screen based rides. I love animatronics a lot more even though I know these ones broke down from time to time. Guess I’ll have to see what I think in person.
It looks WORSE. There is like no lighting now other than the 3D things. And they weren’t even scary. I thought they would’ve improved the lighting, bumpiness in that horrible track and Made it less confusing about where your going. But they just removed all the lights and cool things for a bunch of screens? Crap
Just my honest opinion. Being a local all my life I’ve seen how much it’s changed and it used to be much better. Guess you wouldn’t know bro
The lighting is actually still there, it's just that you still can't record such things on modern video very well. It's brighter when you are actually there.
colliric ohhh. Tysm for being nice about it and not like that kiwi bro. Would check it out but I bet the kind ups are horrible
@@jasminefecknaaa1109 Also they are actually still testing the ride is correctly operating too(so yes it's possible not all full effects were on yet). It's been closed again the last two days and will open tomorrow.
Pretty normal for a theme park to do that before a proper reopening event takes place. It's called a Cold Open.
So yeah some of the minor effects may not have been on for this video. I suspect some of the small issues will be corrected slightly.
The bumpiness of the track is intentional though..... It's a cat and mouse coaster, it's meant to feel like you're about to fall off it. Hence why they themed it to the "scary" scooby doo... But you're correct, the animatronics were far better.
Now that I've seen the whole thing, it actually looks pretty good. But yeah they could have put even more effects into it.
I am glad they've updated it, it will keep the ride open for another decade.
They should’ve just gotten new animatronics. Everything about the ride was good. Even if some parts looked outdated it was still theatric and you couldn’t tell in the dark anyway.
They have really stepped up with all the new video. Good on them for doing something significant to update it.
While an actual Spooky Island theme park would have been awesome, I think this is good too.
I never even knew this park existed.
I went on it when it was just a black room full of nothing
What did movie world do to this ride?
This is the first ride I went on back in 2005 and it scared the heck outta me with the animatronics, audio, being in the dark not seeing much, all the smoke and lighting, but now it looks like there's pieces of the original with screens playing terrible early PS3 CGI.
Not Spooky at all. If they gave it a proper face-lift with state of the art animatronic, scenery, sound it would be great, but other than Disney and Universal, parks think projected half assed CGI is the future
It looks pretty good, I like how they’ve added more elements of the movie into the ride. Especially the skull disco ball. All they would need to fix is the CGI to make it a bit more realistic
Well the original ride was opened along side the release of the film, so it wouldn't have really gotten a whole bunch of the assets that the movie had since it was made and built at the same time of filming.
This ride was so much fun with the lights off :/
The og version still has a pace in my hart
Same bro. It was good being a 2000's kid
I've Might Go On The Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Roller Coaster At Warner Bros Movie World Theme Park In Gold Coast Near Sydney Australia Next Year In 2021. Thanks Mate. X
I hope they’ve fixed those turns near the end, the amount of neck and back pain from those was horrendous
I’m not a fan of the new theme at all but I hope they’ve changed speed in that ending area as that wasn’t a fun experience
went on this two days ago and THE QUALITY OF THE CAMERA ON THE FIRST PROJECTION THO 😭😭😭
If they made more creative coasters like this…immersive… like a combination of a dark ride and coaster…think they would tap a new market. A lot of the Scoobie do cartoons have the mineshaft trope. It works.
I honestly don’t see the point of this box thingy at 2:26 . After around 2 years of being the ride stripped you would imagine that they would’ve done so much more. What were they planning that whole time?
DC Rivals Hypercoaster was what they were planning and that's great.... This is just a simple ride refit. Could have been better, but they probably only had a budget of a few hundred thousand dollars or less. It's good for what it is, keeping the ride going.
Lauren Chizzle the box with the flashing lights was insane I got pretty much an instant headache. second time we went on it all the laser lights were off and it was only 3 days after opening
Not the intended result of the 'box'. As you can see it's filled with mirrors, intending to replicate an effect of being thrown through a window, like they did in the movie when they landed on the awning outside.
They still need to add some ceiling in the slow parts of the ride. the lift screen is totally unfinished they only added the screen in front and on one side but not the other. They have removed lasers which is boring. The turning section is overly loud. Shame the fast trackers had to wait longer than the general queue because the workers were mostly concentrating on the general queue.
Omg this was SO fun! I went on it at the last day of White Christmas!
The back drop was so scary🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼🙍🏼
Wow. Looks good. Glad they did something with it to make it better.
Not a big fan of screens it doesn't make it an experience it's one of them type of screen rides that u only do once
NO NO NO NO NO!!! Where is the “Scooby doo where are you?” On the Elevator and the tilting and the red lights, I miss the Elevator!!! And my favourite jungle end?! 😱😭😭 where are the scary props? Wtf
this ride should have like the first part the doors can be closed and then we could hear daphne kicking it open and her being like "oh yeah oh yeah" idk sksksk
i haven't been on this ride for a long time. But the animation looks bad...so bad that i might not go on this ride again.
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg did they bring it back.?? I remember going on this like in 2014 or 2015 !!
I actually worked at MovieWorld 2002 - 2003. I don't miss the insanely loud rock & roll remix of the Scooby-Doo theme song. We had to sit in a booth at the top the the first drop (backwards) to make sure no one stood up or anything. We had to wear ear plugs on every shift and they didn't help much!!! I do miss the fog and the swirling portal on the last drop. The projector effects and Scrappy lifting the coaster to the "wild mouse" section of the ride are a nice touch though.
Did you ever have anyone stand up? I bet you would have some interesting stories to tell!
Great upgrade
I love this ride, it’s so fun and exiting
The screens ruined it. What’s the point of having them anyway? The CGI is like half done!
I liked the original tonnes better :( the original was so complete and worked well together. This one is so random and choppy.
@@itsluek that was fun too lol
I came here because of big lez show
This looks fun
That is absolutely abismal I'm 19 and have been going to the Gold Coast since I was 8 ish and that ride was always a favourite
They've killed it now, disgraceful
ITS living up to its name one upgrade at a time. I remember riding it with lights on few years later it upgraded and had lights off now it this😊
Omg this was so scary at the backwards drop part I almost threw up lol
the more I see it I like it but the ending needs a rework I think...
RAGE Gaming I guess, they removed the scooby doo at the end

Amazing
Do not go intro the spooky island castle!
I love this I need to ride this ride now
The original was much better than this. I loved the animatronics. It gave the ride character! I hope the roller coaster itself hasn’t changed too much
I LOVE THE SCOOBY COSTER It's my fav ride
questions is new is Next Generation better or Scooby where are you old better and why ?
Hm I haven’t been on the old one but I know that all the lights were on and you can see everything. This is rlly gooood. You cant see anything and it’s just amazing, I cried after lmao
Nice 👍🏽
I loved the animatronics! they got rid of them ☹️ last time I heard there’s a warehouse behind movie world that stores old animatronics from the rides
I went on this. It was fun but the saws dip really took me by surprise.
So cool
Tbh i kinda like the new version
They just need to work on the screen more...
This rid eis awesome I went on it in 2019 when I was 7!! I hope it's even more awesome if that's possible, I'm going to movie world again in a few days with family so hopefully it's open!!
Ive been to this ride before and i remember saying "i dont wanna die not today"
Cool
cool ride.
1:02 well that's just great.
I remember the haunted house ride at the local Show did a change like this too, I was soo disappointed.
I went today and although you can't see it the corners are terrible they thrash you against the side of the car and when it dips I find the bar keeping you hits you in the chest . I honestly expected much more than just adding lasers
I never went on the ride before it got redone so to me it looks normal and it’s pretty fun, what did it had before that I missed out on?
I was in this a few days ago the drop is terrifying
The CGI and voices are pretty good, especially Shaggy’s voice, but they could’ve turned out better. No offense.
Given the vast amounts of money this park drags in they use conventional LCD panels, with bezels? Really, why not use HD clip panels to louse the square shape and make things a little more interesting. Given the hype I was expecting led panel lined ride walls at a bare minimum. Given my family and I are multiple and when I say multiple I mean multiple visitors to this park it is somewhat disappointing that given todays tech this wasn't more impressive. Politically correct and consideration probably limited tyhis upgrade which is sad. Still best park, happiest place in the world when you are there, except when there are time share vultures set up.
Yeah but it's mainly just a ride refit to keep it going for a while longer(10 years maximum). 2001's Batman Adventure The Ride 2 was an even worse refit for it's time, liked the new ride video, but the rest of it was a shoddy paint job on the Batman Returns themed ride. So it's not the first time they've dissapointed with a keep it going refurbishment.
I think the time has really come for a Park expansion with a new themed area or two. Maybe they could get rid of the obviously temporary "couple of years filler" mini cars area and put in a new Looney Tunes themed dark ride.
Hey atleast they didn’t just gut it and make it a vr Allen v predator game like they did to gremlins
Sour Grape what? the Scooby-Doo Coaster is what replaced the Gremlins ride. Alien Vs Predator was at Dreamworld.
And AVPX wasn't VR...
They're actually UHD screens but yes, with bezels. But on top of that the fact they were working on the DC Super Villians ride at the same time it wasn't exactly the forefront of their budget...
I took this ride when I was 6 and pretty much freaked out
Even though it was a kiddy ride I was fucking terrified and none of the lights were on!!!😂
I liked the old Scooby Doo roller coaster better,
The scooby doo song is still there on the ride
Ok I think I might go on it next time I go to movie world
I don’t know if you realised the sign saying no recording
Rat ras awesome Raggy.
I didn't remember the ride like this.
I haven't been on this ride in yeard
I’m going to movie world on the holidays
I think this ride has changed that much that it's ruined my childhood... It use to be scary... Now it just looks like a kiddy ride in darkness. Maybe it will feel scary when I'm actually on the ride
Honestly I'm excited. To all of the idiots going "nope can't ride!!!! ", you haven't even ridden the new ride yet to see it for yourself.
Dan Wright I have been on the ride today and it was really fun!
1:37 that’s just like in the movie
looks good 👌going tomoz
Replace traditional animatronics with mundane LCD panels with second rate CGI to add insult to injury.
They're actually projectors in the initial 3 turns, so it doesn't light up the ride too much, but then again, it also doesn't look good...
The lift uses 3 UHD tv's (Ultra HD) but since the CGI itself is awful, it looks terrible no matter how HD the screen is. And on top of that the actual scary parts of the Wild Mouse Indoor area are all gone and got replaced with... Well... Nothing... So the actual Wild Mouse becomes less... Wild and a bit more timid...
Well, it fits the movie .___.
This ride is very SPOOKY!!!.... give me the cheeseburger
1:08 *it scrappy time*
I got to touch the support of a ride here, but since my worthless sister bailed on me to go drinking with her friends, I was left as the sole caregiver for my mother who is too ill too ride (my sister had agreed to share looking after her so we could take turns on the rides) and I had to come within inches of one of my life goals of riding a coster here. I got to sit in the smoking area as an ex-smoker and be subjected to second-hand smoke while watching my dream wizz by feet away from me.
Next time will be my turn to have fun here I hope.
I went on it and it was awsome
Yea it’s dark to look at but in person it’s better
I went on here when I was 9 man 9
That looks cool but I have been on it
went on this 2 weeks and there are way more lasers
They want to make the ride more like the movie
I liked the old one better
Didnt they upgrade it
