- Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster is closing, new Marvin Ride and much more! A big Movie World update! Warner Bros. Movie World is a Theme Park on the Gold Coast in Australia!
Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster is closing! The ride will be closing 27th January for a massive renovation. This will bring new cars, track updates, theming updates and much more to "Australia's most iconic Roller Coaster!" When will Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Reopen? It will reopen sometime in 2024!
The 2023 Marvin the Martian ride was finally revealed: Marvin the Martian Cosmic Boom! This will be a 10 metre Drop n Twist ride, which is basically a small spinning drop tower aimed at families. Due to open in April 2023!
We also check out a couple of changes at the park, such as a change in colour to the main fountain, and the current whereabouts of some of the DC Villains like Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Gorilla Grodd!

the TV Screen in the final stretch of the Scooby line use to be a live camera and was placed on one of the break zones, you’d see a car go past and whip around one of the turns :)

Id like to add that the cars were usually empty on the TV. Im not sure if its a "oooohh nobody is there" type thing but it was pretty fun to just watch them whip around the turn.

I used to not be able to keep my eyes open when riding it as a kiddo! Can be scary for sure

it's sad seeing the scooby ride go until 2024 but i'd say it's worth it considering it's time for a makeover ofc I'm more of the gen that grew up with the long running cartoon than live action the live action never really caught my attention but i cant wait to see what the ride will look like once it comes back after it's year long break
Yeah, the ride definitely needed some TLC. Here's hoping they do a good job! Super excited for it.
Traditional Scooby would be more timeless, but the ride is specifically themed after the ghost train from the theme park in the film. Plus the film was made next door at the Village studios, so they like the connection.
I have seen that tv working in the queue it shows the track inside. And am I the only one that misses the original scooby doo spooky coaster. The next generation is okay I would rather the old one though
I’m very glad they are refurbishing it so hopefully it means it will be around for another 10 to 15 years possibly even longer!!
Interesting about the TV! I think almost everyone preferred the older version of Scooby. Here's hoping the refurb can bring it back to its former glory!

I've always said they should rebrand it as Harley Quinn's Spook House in line with the rest of the DC theming. Make it a spinner after the backwards drop section and redo animatronics focused on Harley and Birds of Prey characters getting rid of all the screens.
That would be a cool ride! I think Movie World has enough DC attractions right now, but something in another park like that would be awesome.
4:44 Am I the only person who's seen this reference? Its a very odd place for something like this but I like it. Kinda sad to hear the vehicles are changing, the ones we have now match the film. Hope they don't mess up again. Good luck to my favourite ride.

Dragon Ball? As a big DBZ fan I loved that as a kid!
The vehicles will likely look the same, they're just getting new ones as the current ones are quite old now. It's not uncommon for older coasters to get new trains as time goes on. Makes the ride experience much more comfortable!
MW confirmed that the ride will still be themed to the 2023 film which is good!

the theme they said is still going to be Scooby, just upgrading :)
also the screen used to show a what seemed to be live recording of a part of the ride and with a lightning effect to match the sound of lightning in that queue area
also before next generations it didn't have a gift shop, which I find interesting ¯\(°_o)/¯ I hear that's how they make their money and so it suggests otherwise that they didn't have it before and yet still made such a great ride way back then. Maybe it's just because they already had part of the ride made for the movie (｢`･ω･)｢

The gift shop wasn't originally part of the ride, but it definitely did open sometime before Next Generation. They were certainly less reliant on on ride photos as a revenue source back then.

Thank you Movieworld for the three days notice! Going to miss it by a few days, but luckily i've done it in both forms many times before. Let's hope the refurbish is back to how it was before the screens!

When I was in Gold Coast back in 2018, this was the ride that I loved. I hope the refurb makes this a much better ride cause not going to lie, the ride is quite bland for the last bit
Here's hoping! I think the park has taken the complaints on board and will hopefully bring it back to how it was in the 2000's

Gonna miss it but I think it's been through a lot and I think it deserves a break. Movie world are trying their hardest with keeping old rides and I hope they keep trying hard
Didn't work for the Looney Tunes ride. That ride was THE BEST back in the day and I miss that ride.

haha yeah I vaguely remember them moving. Knight armour moving is a common trope though, so maybe we're mixing it with something else...

Yup, yesterday was the last Scooby day! Sorry to hear that! Being tall must be awful when being limited with what you can ride. At least you can still enjoy the theming, shows and ambience when you get the Theme Park itch.

It's sad but I think the wait will be worth it! I think the cars will stay the same theming wise as they're based on the vehicle design from the dark ride in the Scooby Doo movie. Mystery Machine would be interesting though!
I actually like all the etchings in the queue lol. It does look pretty ugly when they are more crowded together but I think they add charecter. Reminds you of how long and how many people the ride has entertained. Wouldn't be mad if they were patched up or anything but I still like them haha
I can understand that. Vandalism has always gotten on my nerves though. I think a good compromise would be a dedicated section where people are encouraged to leave their mark.
I really hope they REMOVE the screens and put physical props and animatronics in. The screens are so damn tacky
Agreed! Screens are fine when blended in well (see Leviathan's station) but the way they were done for Next Generation was awful.
@ThemeParkOgre absolutely, forbidden journey at ioa in orlando is another good example of a good use of screens

Thanks so much! I'm sure the updates to the ride will fix a lot of the problems. Wild Mouse coasters are meant to be rough (with the lateral g-forces on the turns) but Scooby certainly took it to a new level in recent years haha
