    I am sitting here watching you do this while I am working on my own here, mines a little different model but not too much different. I just discovered something that is pretty interesting. The hose on this one here is like yours, I don't know if those black ones are the same material. In my kit of " fix it crap" I have a bottle of professional Loctite super glue, I accidentally got a drop on my finger while rummaging and I touched the hose with that finger and it freaking instantly fused to the hose. just like if you were to glue two fingers together. I was like WOW! that's a strong bond! LOL
    so my split is close to the handle also but just slits in a few sections. I tried the glue to glue one wired rib to the next one and its crazy sounding but it stuck really well.. I mean I can pull the hose out and bend it and all and its not coming undone. so I just glued all the slits ( three of them) then covered those sections so they are one rib for the two that has a slit between them and crammed that part of the hose up in the handle and put all the screws back in to hold the hose clamped in - Then I ran drops down into the hose grooves to hold it in the handle even better. so the hose now is probably only 4 or 5 ribs shorter and has the same air flow. It's scrunched together but not in a way that changes the shape. I don't know how long it will last like this but when I just put it all back on the vac it doesn't look broken at all, I cant tell a difference. It's only been 10 min or so drying now, I am thinking when its all the way set up it will be good to go though.
    I was going to try hot glue but it seems like it was going to peel off. maybe not though with all that threaded fish line. Mines white like that one but says ROTATOR on the front.
    I think whatever they make that type of hose with must be some kind of next to perfect chemical match with this super glue, I haven't ever seen a bond like this with two pieces of flexible smooth plastic/ rubber before, Just accident that I found this . might be that some clear epoxy works even better...

    Gosh, good video!! I wish I had seen your video before!!! Here is what I had written 4 days ago.... WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SHARK. We've had a Shark upright Navigator PRO for 2 yrs and the flexible hose cracked at the upper portion that goes inside of plastic tube at the handle. I'm an engineer, and I removed all 6 screws, disassembled all that was possible, BUT there is no way to remove the broken hose piece from inside the plastic tube unless I brake the plastic handle, and if I force it there will be NO way to glue it back. I THREW IT AWAY and BOUGHT A DYSON. This is expensive but it is THE BEST OF ALL VACUUMS. If you want a good advice, never YOU buy a SHARK vacuum.

      I have 6 Sharks, 2 of which are the oldest NV22 models. They all work fine for me, but most people abuse them. That's when I grab them for free.

    That's genius repair! I have done it by inserting short (about 2.5 inches) cutted plastic tube in to the hose ends and a lot of superglue. Fit must be tight, otherwise it wont work. All my hose extensions are done like that. In this Shark case my method wouldn't work because of the curve in the handle.

    Hi Bill! I recently bought a massive package of 100 Electrolux C Anti-allergy bags from evacuumstore for one hell of a deal with a sale they were doing. I would love to send a few to the lab for some particle testing, as they aren’t rated as HEPA but I can’t imagine they’re that far off. Would you be interested? Cant find an email to contact you at

    Same vacuum...same problem! I' ve already bought a new hose/handle assembly once. This time I tried taking the handle apart and removing the remainder of hose but, of course, ran into the same problem with the end being glued in and impossible to remove. Don't wanna be a "Debbie downer" but I think that hose of yours is getting brittle and putting holes in it will just invite more splitting. Grrrr! If Shark would have just NOT GLUED that end piece on!

    • @VacLab
      @VacLab  Před rokem

      Actually, it's not glued on. It is extremely difficult to disassemble though. I bought a used part for $20.
