SedgeTool is all about woodworking and having a great time doing it. SedgeTool is Brian “Sedge” Sedgeley who brings 30 years of woodworking experience and tons of energy to the team. Derick “Big D” Clements who has NO CLUE about woodworking but is ready to learn. Chris "cameraman" Seibert who films it all! If you want to have a good time and learn something about woodworking, then you’ve come to the right place.

Next Level ,Shaper ! More Videos Sedge about this Machine . It is very interesting for me and other Woodworkers . Great .
Thanks Boys and Thumb up 👍
Thank you sooooooo much .. much more to come !!!
Can’t wait to see your videos on the shaper origin, wicked excited.
Wicked cool !!!
I'm about three months away from getting one. I have been following the Shaper Origin since I first saw it about three to four years ago. Of course, like many other tools, I have been drooling over it. Like some of the other comments mentioned, I have watched many videos and this has probably been the most informative in the least amount of time. Thank you.
Very cool!
Thanks, Sedge! This is exactly what I needed to resume my learning curve on the Shaper Origin. I have owned it, along with the workstation and plate, for almost a year and have barely used it. So relieved to know that I am not the only one who has to re-learn the basics and watch those unbox/first cut videos again and again! I was excited when I heard you mention on your podcast that you and Big D were going to do a series on it. BP/SS!
Thanks …. BP/SS wicked sharp !!!!
I've watched every Shaper Origin video possible and found yours to be one of the best. I've had my Shaper for about 1 year and found it to be a little intimidating. I learn something new every time I use it. Your video is great starting point for new users. You have a great way of keeping it simple stupid (KISS).
Thanks
One project with Shaper I love is cutting custom foam inserts for both Systainers and for other tools. My wife now has me cutting foam for her pasta maker inserts for her kitchen aid for storage.
Wicked
Great video Sedge. Hopefully this coming twelve months a Shaper will come home to me and videos like this and your approach to go use the tool and learn thru using will resonate at that time. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks Peter
Please keep building on this training. Best I have seen.
Thanks Rick !!!
Thanks Sedge and Big D. I picked up an first generation Origin about 3 months ago used and its been so much fun to dig into. So far I’ve been building a couple burn boxes with both box joints and dove tail joints as well as did some scribing. Hopefully this week I’m going to use it for the first time to put some detail around the bottom of a cabinet toe kick where, with luck, I’ll design the shape with Sketchup and important it into the Origin. People push back on the optical alignment tape being expensive, I personally don’t have a problem with it. Looking forward to more videos from you on this topic over time.
AWESOME!!!!
Hi Sedge, thank you so much for your knowledge on the shaper origin. Just purchased one I followed your instructions and everything came out to the tee!!
I even made my own bowtie using the on board pen app.
Can’t wait for all the other videos on this topic.
I have been following you for a while. I really enjoyed your approach to Woodworking, and how you explain to get from point A to point B …
Have a great weekend… 🍻😎
And Stay Shaaarp!!
Wow ... Thanks !!! Glad the video was helpful !!!!!
Excellent video as always. Definitely want one for myself.
Wicked cool 😎
this was a fantastic teaching video for the shaper! thanks sedge!
Glad you liked it!
Great video, mate. I have had my Shaper for over a year and within the first 60 minutes of unboxing I was up and running. Very intuitive. I am enjoying exploring all the possibilities of the machine. I am building a set of Chippendale chairs and I used the Shaper to cut the back slats.
Wicked cool
In conjunction with the work station, I have made double mortise and tenon joints and the degree of accuracy is mind blowing. I find it quicker to use the Shaper to make a mortice and tenon joint than using the table saw and a Mortice machine. You can dial the fit to a thousandth of an inch! Look forward to more Shaper videos.
I just ordered a Shaper and am looking forward to learning how to use it so the timing of this video was perfect, Sedge and “Big D”. Your explanation of the tool and how to get started with a simple cut was fantastic and the camera work was excellent. When I first saw a friend’s Shaper, I found its operation confusing but your simple, step-by-step explanation of the tool and its operation along with the great camera work made things simple and much easier to understand. Thank you!!!! I am looking forward to follow-on videos. Please keep them coming.
Thanks .. glad you found the video helpful !!
Please go slowly in future videos like this one.
Big D’S shirt game is always on point!
Great video and I’ve got a couple commission jobs that will require using my Shaper Origin. I’m not an expert so like you, I rewatch their videos almost every time 🤷🏾♂️
Glad someone else also noticed and I totally agree. Big D totally competes with Sedge in the swagger department.
Thanks
That's just about the best Circle I ever seen!
🤙🤣
That was great. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Been using origin for a while now and didnt know about the dotted line direction! Easy to get turned around on complicated parts
For sure !!!I am always learning new stuff with the Origin !!!!
Sedge the csc table saw presentation was off the charts …that’s gonna be on Santas list
Wicked cool
Sedge , great demo, Iv'e had my Origin for about two years now and learn something each time I use it, it's great fun ! You stated that the "speed box" in the cut mode selection is for the spindle RPM , this is incorrect;
the speeds box controls the plunge speed and the travel of the spindle in the auto mode, both have default modes but can be adjusted to fit your application.
Thanks for sharing your tips.
Great to hear!
Nice video guys!
Thanks Ron !!!
Irony… Festool advertising on Ronnie’s channel and Harbor Freight here on Sedge just now.
ok
America First 💯👍❤

cool
I will have a shaper soon for sure. Sedge, is The boom arm 203151 compatible while running 204083 ct-cyclone on the ct-26? Can I use both together with the ct 26? Will it all hook up? Thanks!
Yep .. it will work ...... i would call Festool service just to verify...
This is a really cool tool, but what all can I do with it that justifies a $2,900 price tag? Or are you going to explore that in upcoming videos?
We will explore the Shaper Origin with more tips and applications!!!
It’s funny. My Sunday morning youtube for breakfast was first Bourbon Moth doing his RV buildout and he used the shaper origin for something as simple as adding a series of slots for ventilation. So easy to setup that say. Then i see this video. I wondered, given, the age of the shaper design if this would be placed in the land of forgotten technology, but I really think this design is timeless enough that this approach will be around for quite some time.
My willpower is weakening
Cool
Mine as well. Just about to give in.
I picked up one used. I was worried the first generation design was obsolete, but that doesn’t seem to be true at all. As far as i can tel the second generation was mostly a refresh of the design given electronic supply capabilities and both Gen1 and Gen2 seem fully supported.
@@stefanbuscayletgen 2 is QoL upgrades; better skid pad on the bottom/system for how to handle that, better screen, some changes to other stuff. I am going with that one, if they ever send me my “owners of festool survey special offer” code :P
I waited for years thinking I might not use it enough. I use it all the time. Has made lots of things not just possible but easy. If you can afford it you won't regret it!
Systaner show of.
Thanks !!!
