BABYMETAL is the only female Asian band to ever reach #1 on American billboard lists. Plus they have toured with the Metal greats, RHCP, JUDAS PRIEST, KORN, Guns and Roses, SABATON, and othe Masters of METAL and rock. they also Collaborated with BMTH, SABATON, Thai Rapper known as F.HERO, and have been deemed HEAVY METAL by fans since their fist MUSIC FESTIVAL outside of JAPAN held at SONISPHERE 2014. Fun Fact DRAGONFORCE helped to write the guitars and bass music.

The backing band is the Kami Band ("Gods Band"). These are their regular live band in Japan. One of their guitarists, Mikio Fujioka, tragically died after a fall from an astronomy observation platform a few years back. He was a real loss - an amazing musician and a real character. He was also the Musician's Institute tutor who instructed their other main guitarist, Takayoshi Ohmura. Other guitarists who sometimes step up are Leda Cygnus and ISAO. The drummer is Hideki Aoyama and the bass guy is BOH, known as "6-string god of bass". They are fucking amazing.
These days BABYMETAL uses American counterparts for US/Europe tours. Those guys are also stellar musicians - the drummer particularly is a fucking monster. For me, however, without the Japanese guys something just doesn't feel complete. No disrespect intended to the Kamis of the west, who do a fine job.

Actually the American guys haven't played for them since early 2020. It's been BOH, Isao, Hideki and Takayoshi with Mikio's Guitar since then. Also still with those ridiculous masks. Maybe in April they will come off.

Thank goodness they got rid of Bones. It was fine when Babymetal was just a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin (their performance was just meant for dvd) - the "metal club" of the "middle school" - but once they went to live performance you couldn't have a group of guys basically playing "air guitar". The fact that Kobametal was able to recruit such a talented group of musicians for what started as a novelty is one of the great success stories.

I'm sure someone by now has mentioned it, but if you want an "...And Justice For All!" moment, you need to watch the song "BABYMETAL Death"! You will be treated to possibly the most metal moment in the history of metal with a super heavy song that borrows from Metallica's "One", I believe, at the very beginning of it.
Metallica is one of their favorite metal bands because it was watching them that led the girls to realizing what metal music was really about. I'll try to keep this short... BABYMETAL were playing at the same festival as Metallica in like 2014 or so, and Lars saw their shirts all over the place when he was walking around, so he decided to watch them perform. He liked them so much that he invited the girls to meet Metallica. They had a great time meeting the guys and Metallica invited them to watch their set from the side of the stage (there are photos all over the internet where you clearly see them up over Hetfield's shoulder in the staging for a good view).
This is when Su-Metal, the lead singer, said she finally "got it". Prior to this, the girls had heard a little metal music and were a bit scared with how hard and angry it sounded. When Su saw the guys sounding and looking angry onstage, but remembered how lovely, kind, and gracious they had been with herself, Moa, and Yui (the other two girls), it clicked for her. She realized it is all an act; most metal groups are just nice, kind people who sing with a lot of passion and energy, it just happens to sound angry, bitter, etc. It was quite a moment for her mentally and emotionally, and here we are 8, 9, 10 years later still loving their music. It's been a long four years for most BABYMETAL fans, waiting for this new album to drop and so far it seems like it will be incredible!

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。This anthemic song was played in the latest shows on Jan.28/29 this year, and I ran in the circle pit for the first time in my life. 😄 The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. American people also did good job in any of 20 shows during BM's 2019 US Tour. For example, you will find videos showing 17,500 audiences doing the same chanting (even much longer one) at the Forum, CA on Oct. 11, 2019. In your video, Su shouted some words at 07:36 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. In the latest shows, happy smile by Su and Moa made the audience rejoice.
The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now. The maturity has added more attractiveness to this band.

Great reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Kingdom (Queendom?). That was a shame about your 'Metal Kingdom' reaction. That is the first track on the new album so they also used it as the big, theatrical opening number at their shows where the video was filmed 2 weeks ago - it is more like an anthem being the intro song of course, they still do these more energetic songs too.
To answer one of your first questions, the name BABYMETAL is not about their age (although when they started in 2010 they were aged 12 and 11 so it probably did play a part too). The name was chosen for two reasons:
    - to symbolise that they gave birth to a new genre of metal music (kawaii metal)
    - because the writing (and pronunciation) in Japanese is nearly identical to the writing of "heavy metal" (and they love a pun):
    BABYMETAL = ベビーメタル (be-bi-me-ta-ru)
    heavy metal = ヘビーメタル (he-bi-me-ta-ru)
This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, i think it was, 21 mosh pits).
This was also the end of a 90 minute concert and yes, they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world.
This was the official video, they actually cut that outro short by at least a couple of minutes while the girls went to each different side of the stage to shout "We are ... BABYMETAL" with as many of the audience as they could get near to.
Their backing band are the Kami Band - yes they are session musicians and a lot of people have played in the Kami Band with musicians stepping in if say one of the regulars has a date clash with their own band or projects, but they have had the same hard core of about half a dozen musicians since early 2014. In this show we had Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH with his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from the British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version.
One of you mentioned a statue collapsing like Metallica's Justice For All tour ... BABYMETAL pay homage to some of their heroes - can I suggest 'BABYMETAL Death' live at Legend 1997 for another reaction. Legend 1997 was the concert title for Su-metal's 16th birthday party in December 2013, she was born in 1997 ... I think they may surprise you with how they celebrated her 16th.

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
Pretty much a master class in audience control.
BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song.
You can definitely feel the Power Metal/Speed Metal in this one though.
Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce contributed guitar tracks for the studio version of this song.
This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy🦊🤘🔥
    Now we got a metalverse.🌐
Thanks for this multiple reaction and bummer to hear about your METAL KINGDOM reaction screwed up.
The One (BM fandom) is excited once again with the new 3rd single "METAL KINGDOM" released from upcoming album "The Other One", also a live performance returning to the stage after almost two years was held during this weekend along with two new songs and world premiere, new announcement with more shows in April and later they will join Sabaton's Europe Tour as a special guests.
So far no one is having any copyright blocked issues reacting to those songs so don't worry about it, but my suggestion is to stick with early BM songs before jumping to this new era with more mature sound.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist.
    *MoaMetal* scream and dance.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is insane just like you noticed, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride, but either way you gotta be careful, you might lose your shoes and towels or even worse your smartphone just like during latest shows.😰
This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment.
With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males.
BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you heard album tracks remember they aren't playing there.
    In this case they are:
    - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs.
    - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
    - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene.
At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too.
If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked.
    See you next time! 🦊🤘🔥

This song is certainly different from Metal Kingdom as this is very much from the classic era of Babymetal, whereas MK is from the current new period where they seem to be on a more experimental phase with the concept album. They have said that this current album is a "side story", so they may return to a more classic style on the next album. OTFGK
Babymetal's name actually has nothing to do with their ages when the group started. The Babymetal name has a twofold meaning. First it refers to the birth of a new kind of metal music in their signature style of 'kawaii metal' (cute metal). Secondly it is a Japanese play on words of the terms ヘビーメタル (hebimetaru) 'heavy metal' in English, and ベビーメタル (bebimetaru) 'babymetal' in English, with the two terms looking and sounding almost identical in Japanese. Thus, like the band itself, the name is a playful twisting of something well known to make something new.

    Great reaction.
1:52 "I think the important thing is to not overthink it" Su-metal would be proud, because she said: "No thinking, just feel it" 🙂
The band is called Kami band, because Kami means god or spirit, they are: gods of metal. Because, these guys can play ! They are regular session musicians. For touring in the west and for continuity after one of them sadly passed away, they also now have not just a Japanese regulars, but a western Kami band as well. Some say it might also have something to do with all the work to get visas when touring.
But surprisingly they aren't the ones in the studio most of the time, in this case it was actually Dragonforce guitarists that helped create and record this song. The very first feature on a Babymetal song.
I would recommend for a reaction: Babymetal Death at Legend 1997

BABYMETAL is to be experienced LIVE is my conclusion.
Quite a few at that concert said METAL KINGDOM was the favorite. It might not be what you would listen to on the interstate in your car, but try to picture yourself line at the hall as the opener, with everyone chanting the wo wo wooos together.
That day's set list is: METAL KINGDOM/ Divine Attack/ Distortion/ PA PA YA/ Gimme Chocolate/ Megitsune/ Doki Doki Morning/ Light and Darkness/ Monochrome/ Headbanger/ Ijime Dame Zettai/ Road of Resistance/ THE LEGEND. The meaning behind the name BABYMETAL is two-fold. First, when their producer Koba-metal envisioned the group early on, he felt he was creating a brand new genre of metal (which would come to be called "kawaii metal"), a newly-birthed musical baby, as it were. But it had nothing to do with their youth, because in the beginning, he didn't know he was going to select young children to form the group. He knew he wanted to go with idols, but didn't know at the time that it would start with some of the youngest idols, so that part was pure coincidence. The other meaning behind it is that one of the Japanese words for "heavy" is bebi, which is pronounce nearly the same way as the English word "baby." Bebi metaru is literally "heavy metal."

First time I heard/saw them my brain almost shutdown. They instantly earned a permanent spot on my workout playlist. Their live shows look dope as hell, too. One of the few bands I wouldn't hesitate to drop cash on for their live performances.

Road Of Resistance Live In Japan 🇯🇵:-
Su-Metal was 10 when she performed with Karen Girls at the SSA (SAITAMA SUPER ARENA). The Arena that night holds about 20000 Babymetal fans but when you see the centrepiece Island and the two curve bridge, it can hold up to 30000 or even up to 40000 depends on the configuration of Babymetal concert for each tour they performed. This song is co-written by Dragonforce with Herman Li and Sam Totman plays the guitar 🎸 solos, but Kami Band live show is brutal and tight. This is a classic Power Metal genre or speed metal as some might refer to. Bands like Dragonforce, Helloween and even Sabaton do power metal genre. Arkadia from Metal Galaxy Album is the successor to Road Of Resistance. At 17 Su-Metal alongside Yuimetal and Moametal who is 15 at that time, gave a perfect 👌 performance on how live show should be. This performance alone cemented my love ❤️ and appreciation for Babymetal. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘😍💕🌸🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult. .

Very anthem like.. Well, you'll be happy to know that the album track for this song was collaborated on and played by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce. That is where the entire sound for this came from, but the KAMI band (the band playing here) is playing it even better than Herman and Sam did (Herman's words himself).
As far as BABYMETAL goes, despite the fact of how young the girls were at the time (I want to say 17 and 15; they started this when they Su was 13 and Moa and Yui were 11), the term BABYMETAL is meant to be "a new style of metal", as they are infusing all different types of metal with J-pop. So you'll see J-Pop mixed with black metal, power metal, death metal, djent, rap metal, etc. With this, they have so many different ways to go, and all without sounding stale or old.
As for seeing them live, they have toured through the US twice, and probably will again after their new album is released.

Since you're a (former?) band, you guys NEED to listen to "Rondo of Nightmare" by Babymetal next. Really want to hear what you all have to say about it. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

BM has been doing shows since their inception in 2010, which helps to explain how perfect is the synchronization they display. Although I'm now a bit over the band, I still enjoy their performances, with Red Night at Tokyo Dome perhaps being the best stage production I've ever seen. Although Su-Metal does not use much vibrato, she hits clean notes and has a decent range. To me, they are more of a production show than standard band, but the concept has obviously been very successful.

I BELIEVE THAT AFTER YALL REACT TO A LOT MORE JAPANESE BANDS YOU WILL GET USED TO A LOT OF THE THEMED BAND OUTFITS AND BAND PERSONA. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE WORD, GIMICKY, WHEN DESCRIBING JBANDS? THEY WANT TO GIVE THE VERY BEST PERFORMANCE POSSIBLE FOR THE FANS. THEY WANT TO PUT ON A BIG SHOW THAT PEOPLE REMEMBER. THERE ARE MANY VERY HIGH QUALITY SMALLER VENUE JMETAL VIDEOS WITH BANDS THAT DO NOT WEAR MATCHING OUTFITS. TRY LIVE PERFORMANCES OF MARDELAS AND RAGLAIA, FOR THAT LIVE METAL CLUB EXPERIENCE. BEWARE THESE BANDS WILL NOT GIVE YOU A LOT OF VIEWS: BUT IN MY OPINION THEY WILL GIVE YOU BRAGGING RIGHTS YEARS FROM NOW WHEN AMERICA GETS EDUCATED BY THE COOL REACTORS. THE JWAVE WILL GIVE YOU GUYS UNLIMITED CONTENT TO MIX IN WITH THE GREAT EURO BANDS.

@@metalheadsjourney 'the only thing that would make that cooler is if the set started collapsing like Justice for All' Babymetal did that as an homage to Metallica in 'Babymetal Death' live at Legend of 1997. Legend of 1997 was a concert on Dec 21 2013 for Suzuka Nakamoto's 16th Birthday. 1 or 2 years before the video you just watched.
