  • EDIT: Sorry for the music being too loud :( I made a mistake while editing and forgot to check the volume on every device, next time it won't happen
    Ford VS Ferrari is with no doubt one of the greatest and legendary rivalry of motorsport, finally hallowed with the recent "Le Mans 66" movie with Christian Bale and Matt Damon.
    It's a story that showed us how Ford became from a simple car manufacturer to the name to beat in the motorsport scene.
    But what happened after that? Did the rivalry between Ford and Ferrari continued? Did Ford managed to keep his successes or actually lost to Ferrari? This short documentary covers it all! We hope you will enjoy it!

      Now that you're at it, also move a bit away from the mic, reduce input gain a bit and speak a bit louder, that should mitigate the sharpness in C's, Z's and S's, remove that clicking sound of K's and remove those nose hair fluttering sounds, tongue and saliva crashing into the teeth sounds too. I'm not looking for a fight here, I'm giving you a feedback!

      I was 14 in 1966 and remember both the '66 and '67 LeMans 24 hour races covered by ABC's Wide World of Sports. ABC did a 2 hour special in 1967 that I have never seen since then. At the end of 1967 Leo Levine came out with the epic "Ford, The Dust and the Glory, a Racing History". I bought that book as it went into great detail about each of the 4 years Ford had a factory effort. When Ford vs. Ferrari came out, the reviews said that Leo Beebe was cast as a villain. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. For this reason, I have refused to go see the movie.

      I liken it to Dodge's decision to cram superchargers in their Challengers and Chargers. It sent a jolt throughout the automotive industry,shocking them out of their complacency and revolutionized just about every manufacturer, into not just producing more and more powerful muscle cars, but performance vehicles are virtually every stripe you can imagine. Could cars like the modern Supra,the C8 Corvette and the current incarnation of the Nissan Z have existed today without the Hellcat? They got involved in stock car racing, dirt track racing, various types of modified racing, hill climbing, off road car and truck racing, World Rally Car racing, sports car racing, Formula 1 racing, drag racing.......it just goes on and on and NO ONE has done it to the extent of The Ford Motor Co. So many films about this but for some reason no one is even mentioning the specs for those cars. For younger people, homologation in older races were really really laid back, even 20 years ago, let alone in 1966. Did anyone even realized Ford had a 7 liter engine, while the closest Ferrari competitor had only 3.3L, and Porsche, which finished in 4th place right behind the Fords only had a 2 liter engine? :) That's how Ford won, does anyone even think about other Ford/Shelby cars from the time or any newer cars as a great balanced drivers cars? You don't make a great car and win a Le Mans all of a sudden while your regular sports cars drive like crap, it doesn't work like lottery :) Ford was just exploiting loose homologation rules, and that's why you don't see Ford winning anything today :) Everything about this story was just a big marketing campaign, and that kind of business structure ruined everything in this world.

    • @Pulsonar
      @Pulsonar Před 2 lety +14

      That might be so, but Ford should not have let Ferrari trounce them so convincingly on home soil in 1967. Daytona was no backwater race, it had prestige and WSC status, and one of very few 24H races. The Ferrari 1-2-3 win was a brilliant riposte to Fords 1-2-3 at Le Mans 1966, and they marketed that victory to maximum effect.

    Not taking anything away from the Ferrari P4, one of the loveliest cars ever built, but you sure seem to gloss over the fact that the Ferrari P4 (and P3/4) were beaten quite handily by the Ford MkIV at Sebring and LeMans later in 1967. As others have noted, Ferrari never won at LeMans again after Ford won in 1966. I’m sure Enzo would have swapped his Daytona sweep for another LeMans win. So who had the sweetest revenge?

I don't like racing at all, but I recognize that racing is where new things in ICE car making are tested like Lubricants, Tire designs, brake models, suspensions, etc, etc, etc. But the despise that Enzo Ferrari did to Lamborghini regarding the clutch and transmission problems is a no-no for me, and that put the nail on Ferrari's coffin for me. I prefer my 2014 Tesla P85D much better than any Ferrari ever built, although my Tesla has a ugly front, looks like Voldemort, but after 207K miles had never failed me............. I remember this from '67. I've never been so happy as I was then to see Ferrari putting not one, but three over the US 'just throw money at it' philosophy. Remember at the previous year's Le Mans, it took 7 litres of Ford to defeat a mere 4 of Ferrari. Ferrari - artistry; Ford - brute force. FORZA FERRARI.
