He is at a level no one will ever beat. Watch him play one handed
Except he himself will (and does) tell you that many drummers have him beat. Stop idolizing, its juvenile. Its obvious you dont play anything. Secondly, he is covering pieces that other drummers can play live in a way he cannot play live. Said so himself, it takes on average 20-50 takes to record these. Just listen to his actual live performances, nothing like you see on his channel.
Watch Estepario's reactions to other drummers, he reacts to live performances not performances with 50 takes. Thats why he says that guy is incredible and much better than I am. Because they are. He doesnt hide that he is a YT drummer (akin to the Instagram guitarists thing, with 400 takes to do something that sounds marginally better than what Satch or Vai managed live)
Thanks for pointing out the 'claw'. Watched many reactions by drummers to El Estepario Siberiano, and many are amazed by this grip, as if unusual. I was taught it in my first drum lessons, as a kid, by my teacher who believed you should start with jazz basics, and this grip was essential to quick, good dynamics. Kieth Moon, uses it all the time, maybe it's a British thing, but doubt it.
I always found it comfortable to use. I'm so happy that I found another drummer who knows "the claw" lol. It saved my life so many times when I forgot to have my potassium intake from bananas and got cramp! 😆
I'm completely self taught and I found out about the claw all by myself. Eventually i was pretty surprised to see, that it's actually a thing 😄
It means a lot to hear a native English speaker say he’s willing to read subtitles. Being from the Netherlands myself, I speak and understand the English language very well. But if I have a choice between subtitles and an English dub, I ALWAYS choose the subtitles. It makes me feel like I’m experiencing content the way it was meant to be experienced. Me (our) perception is usually that native English speakers are usually too lazy (?) to read subtitles. Thanks for proving me wrong! ; )

Great reaction, I guess you can react some Mangini plays. The alien tour prep video, A nightmare of remember pt2 tour drum cam( And he doubles the blast beat part), Enigma machine breaking the fourth wall concert( Towards the end of the track, a solo are playing.) are good for reaction.

Ok, you know your stuff. Respect for that. Any interest in early Roger Taylor work? He is one of the early mew rock drummers in england. Not talking about Radio Ga Ga, but march of the black queen etc.
Btw, the last three dream theater albums are quite boring. The creativity died when Portnoy left Petrucci to do his own thing unchallenged.
