In the video Mike is playing the cowbell with his right foot, not left. Apologies for the mistake.
Thanks for your support! - Hudba
For me he's The Greatest of all time
I agree with you, he is so special and better than portnoy😁
This was awesome G he is amazing 🤩🥰😍xxx
@@fatihcoskun8613 Sure he’s a better technician but I prefer Portnoy’s sense of groove and feel and the way those go into his parts.
Thank you 🔥❤️🔥❤️
The eternal debate!
I am a Mangini fan as well. Thank you for sharing my point of view on Mangini!
An honour and a pleasure my friend.
Thank you for giving Mike his flowers! As good as he is, I feel he is STILL under-appreciated somehow. And you nailed it about him being one of the most accurate drummers ever. I saw him live and he was an absolute powerhouse, made 0 mistakes playing some of the most technically-involved music with DT
I first saw Mangini live at the Modern Drummer Festival where he played the two kits....one setup righty, one setup lefty. And he would just move between kits when demonstrating various styles of music. I then saw Dream Theater on the first tour that Mike played on and no offense to Portnoy, but he made playing Portnoy's parts look like playing an AC/DC song. If Portnoy's fill was going down the toms with two 16th notes on each tom, Mangini would just do double strokes to work down his mirrored setup. Also, the part where he was playing the ostinato with his foot (I think it was a small cowbell), you mentioned it was his left foot but I think it was actually his right foot. It looked like he kept it on one side of his body.....like when he started the pattern in 5 on the hi-hat with his left hand and left foot. Then he moved to right hand/right foot. I also love the fact that there are those DT fans that complain that Mangini doesn't have feel or groove.....even though he played with Extreme which is a very groove oriented band and probably wouldn't have been hired if he sounded like a robot. I think with DT, he gets to apply his skills more and I think he's a perfect fit letting the rest of the band stretch out and be more technical. But that's just me.
Thank you so much for your interesting input! I think everyone can agree that Mike Mangini is more technical and varied on the drum kit than Mr Portnoy but I can not deny how good Portnoy is at creativity and arranging parts. Mangini did indeed play the ostinato on his right foot. I mentioned I got it wrong in the comments when I uploaded the video. I look forward to hearing more input from you in the future!
@@warlord_drums You also can't look past the fact that Portnoy also helped write lyrics so he was an integral part of DT. Again, no sleight on Portnoy....DT has just evolved with Mangini. Either way, great reaction brother!
Bruh, nice reaction and you’re looking like Gary Oldman in _The Fifth Element_ with that hair, which is awesome!
Best comment ever! Cheers dude. 😂
Someone has the same thought as i am. Awesome!!
Im sure you introduced me to dream theatre!
Man is a legend!
Love the commentary
Thank you Lidz. ❤️
Wow Mike is insane. Thanks for that video. Nice to see you again.
Full of talent 👌 🥁 🪘 🛢
Dude's an animal, and has his techniques in check as he should as he was/is a professor at Berklee? :D
Fantastic analysis!🙏🏻 He is truly amazing, and your breakdown is on point.
Thank you so much. Come back for my next reaction video and cover. 🤜🤛
Mike Mangini answering all critics with performance, technic, skill, and accurateness. Good job Mangini...
The hand foot technique is also known as the Portnoy fill. The difference is that Mangini does it way faster. Mike Mangini is 61, he was born in 1963.
Manginni não tem pra ninguém e simplesmente o melhor do mundo
Awesome as always G 🔥🔥🥁
Perfect summery of the solo/player in general! A fun watch 👌
Thank you brother!
All the years with Dream Theater, he has my respect and love!

19, 20, bout the time you stole my dream theater octavarium dvd 😂 sneeelerow
Whoop whoop
He can play two time signatures at the same time
He certainly can my friend!
A sign that you went to Mangini's classes: verbalizing drum patterns with your mouth aka beatboxing, lol
He is amazing 🤩
You are too!
Fucking amazing ❤❤
Oh....and you should definitely check out some Matt Garstka from Animals As Leaders.
He's an absolute monster also! Definitely in my list of reaction videos. I'd like more input from you. Thank you for your comment!
Sick! The only other drummer I've seen with a similar (although more modest setup) is Travis Orbin
And what a player he is!
He's also a computer scientist
I also call him a robot lol, in comparison to Portnoy who I call a beast.
