- Digging around in old footage I felt it was time to tell the story of an unsung member of the Yogscast that had been with us since the beginning. Here is the true story of what happened before we shot the Heroes and Generals Challenge. Sadly a lot of footage was lost after the day, but you get the idea!

Confirmed yogscast doesn't ever leave the city.
Jet Jenkins They got one part of that right, you're supposed to keep revs high to prevent the exhaust from sucking water back into the engine.
Tedrick Leong no thats wrong. Keeping it revved would serve no purpose to keep water out.
Jet Jenkins No - high revs ensure that exhaust gases are continually expelled at a rapid rate. The trick is not to lift off the accelerator which would create a vacuum in the exhaust, sucking water back in.
Tedrick Leong lol obviously you've never actually driven in the bush, I've been in water up to my knees before and didn't have a problem.

That stuff on the ground, oil looking stuff, was from you getting the bottom soaked, and then all the grime dripped off as it was sitting there. Nothing bad.
What, do they put the air intake on the bottom of cars in the UK? You want to go fast but not too fast that your initial splash bursts up into your intake. Then, hammer it

***** Yes, you do hammer cars through something like that, after youve gotten in the water. You wont accelerate fast enough to get a half meter of water on top of your fucking engine once youre in it, unless youre driving a low rider from south compton.
Have you ever driven through a flood? Successfully? Obviously not if you think youre supposed to take your time. I live in texas, it doesnt rain often here, but when we're in rainy season it floods easy, because our roads are not made for floods because they only happen once or twice a year. Never had my 2 door coupe die in water, air intake is above the right tire, outside of the engine for cooler air.
Hi no they don't they have the intake up high in the engine bay so they must have floored it it get the water that high up to kill

I love all the Yog's videos, but Turps revealing the damage done by the swinging door is one of the most genuinely funny things I've seen on these channels for a while. Turpster, my sincerest condolences for you loss, but cheers for the laugh.

I worked in film locations for years and on every shoot, we had tons of issues. One time there were four flats, three people got stuck, one hit a tree, and one tore up the bottom of their car. I was there until midnight waiting for all the tow-trucks. That's not counting the dozen+ people that got lost. Take city people off city streets, and everything goes to shit.
The back window though. Ouch. What a bad luck day! Simon's hand, your car, Duncan's keys...you guys go to (and through) a lot of trouble to make videos for us to enjoy. Thanks for that.
Honestly, I'm amazed that this Opel got through that much water and didn't rust apart by the end of the video.
Love seeing these little videos, just so you get a feel for what they're actually like.
I really love these vids because through it all, this is a real as it can get. This is not a hit on the Yogscast's scripted stuff, just that it makes you feel like you know them a bit more.

Easy fix for a flooded engine - take the coil pack of the top of the engine, remove the spark plugs, and crank the engine. Watch the water spray out. Once clear, spray WD40 on the spark plugs, and dry excess of tissue, before refitting plugs and coil pack.
That ending almost brought tears to my eyes. RIP in peace.

Water doesn't compress, so cranking the engine with the plugs in will likely bend or break a con rod, or damage the crankshaft.
Wow... first the engine floods, then the wind blows open a huge metal door shattering the rear widow, that's just rubbing salt in the wound.

The same exact thing happened to me during a huge storm four days ago Turps! I feel your pain. But I was running from a tornado not going to shoot a CZcams video.....
yeah Lewis to the exact wrong approach. When you gun it and go fast through the puddle, it splashes up more into the underneath of the car. Making the damage worse. When going through a puddle like that go slow and steady. my dad has backed the back half of cars into a foot and a half deep water and not had any problems.

Turps if you don't want to get a new car because you don't use it that much anyway just get yourself a nice bike! It'll take care of your transportation needs quite nicely if you live in a city.... and yes I do realize this is old footage.... but hey knowing turps hes probably still praying to good ole' Harvey to fix his car.
I would have loved to see Turps' face right when the door fell, or he was told about it.
I think overall that was a long day for the yogscast what with the flooding, the tragic death of turps car, simon nearly blowing up his hand, Duncan losing his keys and then having a mud fight with lewis. reminds me of the moonquest night on the livestreams last year with the constant mishaps, server crashes and then simon hitting the moon. still it could have been worse, I mean that puddle was bigger than kim so it's probably for the best she didn't come!

It wasn't flooded, as that means something else in automotive terms. It was hydrolocked. The cylinders and everything were full of water. Depending on how fast the engine was running at the moment occurred, it could very well have suffered broken connecting rods or anything. The first step to even begin to recover is to pull all the spark plugs out, turn it over a few times to squirt the water out (without holding it too long and burning out the starter), then draining all the oil, because it'll be a white milky soup at this point. At that point a car might be recoverable, unless you did one of the other things like breaking or bending connecting rods or valves or something, which is a very real possibility, especially if you were gunning it. By the sound of it, that was Turps's car's fate, alas! Moral of the story is don't drive through deep puddles unless you have a snorkel.

I'm honestly kinda shocked that none of them knew how to fix that car/what was wrong with it tbh I mean maybe it's just me but I was brought up knowing how to fix cars/what not to do.
